  1. Thanks for all the input guys. Thanks to you another query solved.
  2. This answer does it. Guess it's no good OCing it then. Thank you.
  3. Don't know what happend or what you were seeing. But I only used BBcodes. I changed it, see if it works.
  4. Hi, Has anyone tried to Overclock an Asus PA238q ProArt monitor or aware of the same? 1. What’s the monitor’s Refresh Rate OC potential? Can I get to 1920x1080p @ 75Hz without breaking it? 2. Can Asus ProArt series monitors be run 24x7 @ OC relatively safely (without frying the panel I mean)? 3. And if I do get to OC my monitor, which would be the preferable connection/cable type to use? Dual-Link DVI-D /DVI-I or DisplyPort 1.2 or HDMI 1.4a!. All opinions / suggestions are appreciated. Thanks for reading & helping.
  5. Nice. Didn't know abouth the OBS. Thanks. But I was simply planing on enabling iGPU and running my old monitor on it as an extended disply when needed. RAM OC: More like a ambition. Nothing much. Won't push it much as I believe they don't come with over temp protection.
  6. Again Thank You. I've considered the X99. But I hear there are some bugs in that system as of yet. Very poor OC. And I'm rather looking forward to OC. And about that iGPU, I was planing on twicking it to run simultaniously with GPU [Experimental]. And I'll much like some opinion on my OC goals.
  7. Well Aproximately 5%. May varry a little. And I did consider the 980. But in my local its costing 250$ more. And I've come to believe that the Intel HT on i7 will help in Photoshop. But thanks very much.
  8. Thanks for the input. Just what I need. Your Build looks pretty similar.
  9. Hi Guys, After 3 months of gruelling searching and researching and head scratching and banging my head on the wall I have finally FINALLY decided on the parts of my new rig. All thanks to people at here at LinusTechTips and some other respectable tech forums. Rig purpose: Gaming = 40%, Photo editing = 15%, Video rendering = 5%, Web Browsing = 20%, Media playback = 15%, Others = 5%. Parts: Chassis=> CM HAF-X (C-942 KKN1) [From my previous build, 3 years old] PSU => Corsair AX850w 80+ Gold [From my previous build, 3 years old] Motherboard => Gigabyte ga-z97x-ud5h-bk CPU => Intel i7 4790k CPU Heatsink => Noctua NH-D15 (Dual Fan setup) RAM => G.Skill Ripjaws X DDR3 16 (2 x8) GB F3-14900CL10D-16GB [1866Hz (XMP), 10-11-10-30-2N, 1.50v] Graphics Card => Zotac GTX 970 4 GB (GPU Clock 1076) [With Dual Fan Aftermarket coolers] SSD => Samsung 850 pro 256 GB HDD => Hitachi Ultrastar 4k7000 2TB (will buy later; can’t squeeze in the money right now; probably RAID 1) Monitor => Asus PA238Q ProArt -> 23’, 1080p, 50-75hz, 6ms, IPS, 16.7mil (Precalibrated -> DeltaE <5) Keyboard => Corsair Gaming k70 RGB Cherry MX Brown Mechanical. Mouse => CM Sentinel Advanced [From my previous build, 3 years old] Headset => Creative Sound Blaster Tactic 3D Rage wireless HDTV => LG 47LA6910 (Asia version) [Already have] OS => Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit {For now. Until Windows 10 comes, if it’s any good} Plan on OC [CPU = 4.5GHz, RAM = 1866MHz 9-10-10, GPU = 1150] What you think guys. I need your final opinions. Thanks P.S.: Posted the same request at another forum. Hope it'll be forgiven and not considered spam. I'm rather desparate for expart opinions. All helps REALLY apreciated.
  10. Hi, Need a new Motherboard. Came down to these two. I like that ‘a little more stability assurance' provided by that 168 hrs. server test of Black series. [My last board broke after 4 months of using on OC; RMA boards are never the same as new ones.] Differences :: {A} ud5h-bk vs {b} ud3h-bk 1. Price (local) > {a} $40 more > {b} 2. Features> {a} 2 LAN (Intel + Killer), 2 more back panel USB 3.0, 2 more SATAIII, etc. (might be useful but not game changers for me.) 3. Things that concerns> [*]{a} VRM = 16 phase (6+2 true phase) digital PWM vs {b} VRM = 8 phase (4 true phase) analog PWM [*]{a} on-board Clear-CMOS button vs {b} on-board Clear-CMOS jumper Querys: [*]How much impact does analog vs digital VRM of these two boards has on OC stability and on prolonged use stability? [*]How much pain should I expect from absence of a clear CMOS button? [*]Do the above benefits justify the $40? [*]Are there any other significant difference that would justify the $40? All opinions are greatly appreciated. Thanks for helping.
  11. Thank you guys for a quick reply. From your response I take +1 for IPS then. As to answer your quiries: My primary gaming focus is not 'multiplayer competitive FPS'. Rather graphics intens 'eye candy'. So. +1 IPS on 'eye candy' I guess. But what are your opinions on g-sync on gaming. I believe it is universally agreed that V-sync did coz us more pain than alleviating them.
  12. Hi Guys, It’s a little big post, but guys PLEASE take the trouble of reading through and help me. I’m building my new ‘next gen’ rig. After long tiring searching & researching I came to conclusions about most of the parts, the one left is Monitor. Rig Usages (approx.): Gaming = 40%, Photo & video editing = 20%, other = 40%. My Budget: $450 My Dilemma: 144hz, 1ms, TN, G-Sync [e.g. AOC G2460PG (FHD) = $450, BenQ XL2420G (FHD) = 500] Or 75hz, 5ms, PLS/IPS, No G-Sync [e.g. Asus PA238Q (FHD) = 330, Asus PB278Q (QHD) = 500] {I can squeeze in another $50} Explanation: To a certain extent I’m aware of the differences of TN and IPS panel (at least from their ‘effect’ point of view). I’ve been searching web on this matter but all the articles seems to be rather one tract (I mean either ‘gamers’ or ‘professional’) but as you can see from my usage I’m an ‘enthusiast gamer’ AND I’ve equally kin interest in photography (post prossesing). So I was wandering how well a IPS 75hz will do for me. And is it worth giving up G-sync for? (Personally I consider V-Sync ON/OFF to be a real pain) Finally it comes down to this: IPS vs G-sync; both of them I believe are new techs with significant impact in their respective field and they, as of November 2014, doesn’t exist together. So, which one to take, which one to leave? Or is there any news where they come together in NEAR future (as in next 3-4 months) that I'm oblivious to? I’m seeking your opinions as friends and fellow computer geeks (pardon my language). Please believe me I really do appreciate you reading through this big post and your help. Thanks.
  13. Thank you. I did know about the exixstance of the WD Red Pro. however i didn't look it up as I never found a popular store in india selling it. Apart from the features (which you say is same as Red and rpm@7200, what the price diffrence is like if you know of any in your local stores. And depending on the price difference is the performance improvement worth it. I'll look it up. But as your status say Industry affiliate & WD, I'll still hold your opinion valuable.
  14. Thank you. I really appreciate the detailed explanation. MoBo, CPU, DRAM, Heatsink, SSD, agreed and confirmed. thanks. Would like a little more clarification on GPU & HDD if you would please. For GPU confusion kindly see my multimonitor setup confusion. Regarding HDD = I do plan on doing RAID1 for back up (redundency) but was indecisive b'coz of the red series' intelipower (varing 5400 rpm) performance hit. I will be using the HDD mostly for data storage ( which I hold dear like a collector or something) and the OS and aplications and games will be on SSD ( hence increased failure risk by striping in RAID0 not a big headache). But still not wiiling to take signifiacnt transfer rate hit on the HDD. (waiting for 300GB data transfet to complete @ 25 mB/s is stress on my life-energy). Again thanks. and any further input is really welcome.
