Screen going black on video playback and slow performance (99% of the time) is drivers, drivers, drivers. Update everything you can find - CPU, GPU, chipset, any optional drivers from the vendor's website(s), and try again. Also try disabling Fast Boot and (if this wasn't what you were already talking about when you said Fast Boot) Fast Startup in the Windows 11 power settings. In my experience that causes way more issues than it fixes.

That time to BIOS is normal for Ryzen 7000 desktop, by the way - only way to fix that is over time update your motherboard BIOS and it may get better. Zen 4 just takes a hell of a long time to do memory training, it's a fact of life.

    WE have lift off!!

Had to go into the BIOS to set it to ignore the CPU fan lower limit as nothing is plugged into that header. Temps with the new AIO are 20 degrees C cooler than before.

I can't thank you enough for your help!!!!

That should be the Commander Core that attaches to the CPU fan header.

Those are the only cables that come off the pump. The Commander Core is meant to be used with that. I assume the pump is going to get power from the Commander Core itself through that connector. The USB header cable will probably be used to control it.

Does it look like it's missing anything coming from the assembly? If not, that's probably how it's supposed to be.

There's nothing coming from the Commander Core itself?

    @Logun
I watched a video of this cooler, and it looks like there is a 3-pin connector that comes off the pump itself. So you should have a total of 3 cables coming from it - does it look like anything was cut from the cables at all?

The last cable is a USB header splitter. I'm presuming it's so you can attach another device to the header, alongside the pump instead of the pump fully consuming the entire header on its own.

What connectors come off the pump? Does it look like anything was cut off or cut back?

The header splitter is for the Commander Core and pump - they will both occupy one header.

Can you send photos of the included connectors, ensuring that they are all being pulled off the pump assembly, and none are being left behind? I'm fairly certain it is only there to provide RPMs, as well as telling the motherboard the CPU has a cooler mounted to it. The cable that I'm seeing is pretty short.

The 3-pin cable is completely separate from the 24-pin and USB header cables, and directly next to them. You are sure NOTHING is there, even wires that look like they were severed?

I'm not sure why it's not there. But it's only there to prevent the motherboard from complaining(that alert can be disabled), and to provide RPM feedback. The pump does not get power from the header.

Depends of what you want from it
Basically any B650 board will work ok, all have overkill VRM and the 7800X3D don't need much power
Only difficulty is if you want some specific PCie lanes/M2 setup, all all boards have different but equally weird choices with everything from Gen5x16 to Gen3x1... really have to look at details here :
    https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1NQHkDEcgDPm34Mns3C93K6SJoBnua-x9O-y_6hv8sPs/edit?usp=sharing

Good all around boards would be B650 Gigabyte Aorus Gaming or Elite, either ATX or mATX for 50 bucks less (C$200 to $300)
A rather more luxurious nice one imo at 450 canuck rubles is the Asus B650E Strix E-E, the cheapest to have a postcode (and B650E has more PCie lanes too)

I have personaly used the MSI B650 TOMAHAWK and GIGABYTE B650 AORUS AX in multiple builds without issues, with X3D CPU's as well 🙂
Here is a long video by Hardware Unboxed, he goes through 35x B650 boards, maybe you can get suggestion here.
There is also a written article for this video if you prefer to read.

It looks like you're trying to plug the end of the cable that goes in the board connector into the PSU. Flip the cable around?

Eh, even then you don't need the extra 4 pin. The single 8 pin can handle nearly 400W, and unless you're using a 7950X on LN2 you're not gonna get anywhere near that. The extra 4 pin I'd consider there more for marketing purposes than it is to actually be useful.

If you do want to plug it in, the split end connects to your motherboard, not the PSU. I wouldn't bother though.

This feels like a os/filesystem issue. I find it very unlikely the drives or raid is causing this issue.

I believe he's referring to a tweet of Linus's today where he was like "ugh Madison is here" keeping up the joke that he can't stand her.

The truth, of course, is that if she actually annoyed Linus that much he wouldn't have just hired her to move to BC and come work for him.

I know a lot of us like Madison but I think at this point the best thing for her success with LMG is to just stop talking about her all the time and let her settle in and do her job. I know LMG's usual policy is that new hires don't appear on camera for several months in case things don't work out. In this case it's awkward because there's a whole segment of the audience that are already Madison fans, I can see how it would make her feel a lot of pressure on top of what she's already feeling starting a new job at a company she's wanted to join for a long time. Can we just chill?

However, there's no appreciable benefit going beyond SATA 6 Gbps speeds for applications.

    Hello,

Next year might be the school year where my child begins to come home by themselves. As such I'm beginning to look into electronic door locks and cameras. There doesn't seem to be much in the ways of reviews on the internet so I thought I would check here to see if anyone has first hand experience with these products. Any information to get me started would be greatly appreciated.

    Thanks!

Logun reacted to Oshino Shinobu in How do I use a NAS?
For the most part, NAS boxes like that are plug and play. They'll come with directions, but they're fairly easy to set up, and most of the time can be configured via a webpage, similar to router configuration. You don't have to use one of those, you can essentially just use a PC as a NAS by installing some NAS software on it, either over an OS, or as the OS (FreeNAS). That's a bit more involved though, so one of the boxes may be better for you.

Some of them will allow things like Plex to be installed and run, so it can be used to stream content using that media server/player platform, or you can just essentially use it as external storage. I'd recommend having a look round on youtube for guides on NAS setup and use.
