  1. Dell "High end" monitors seem to suck ass. I have a couple U3011 and you cannot do much with them on an AMD R9 290. When I had my Titan The CRU utility worked quite well but I was only trying to OC the refresh rate - not downsample. On AMD I cannot even get the custom resolution to show up in the CCC
  2. Exaclty. The way I heard it you could run older games at higher res. I didn't understand it and made a mental note to come back to it. That was last month and so now I'm searching for it all over again.
  3. I remember hearing on a podcast a while back about a piece of software which would allow you to run any game at any resolution. (I'm generalizing here) Would any of you know what sorcery this may be? One I've found thus far has been UniversalResChanger 2.0 Any others you've used with success?
  4. I did win a Borderlands Pre Sequal code through twitter. That was kinda cool. I nearly gave it away though because they just said it was a borderlands key so I thought it was BL1 lol.
  5. The official rules also do not state a maximum number of entries...?
  6. I thought Linus said last night that it was the first 3? ninja edit> just checked and it is first come first served - from the rules:
  7. This will show what the community here is made of. Either they step up and post the letters or they don't. I've only seen one letter thus far and it was U
  8. I found Linus when he was but a wee lad doing his NCIX videos. I came for the tech but I stayed for the Blonde dye job. I'm glad to see you guys making it, and I'm even more glad that you are becoming a household name in the tech sector. Your no nonsense reviews will keep me coming back for years to come. Your brand is built on integrity and backed by people that I can trust to tell me exactly what they think. That's why I don't sweat the sponsors either (like AT&T) Keep it up and let's keep this train moving. I'd like to see you soon overtake Pewdie Pie
  9. I am very hopeful because IMO 4K and 24" just don't mesh well - at least not for those of us who don't have natural 20/20 vision. even at 39" I found text on games like Civ5 incredibly hard to read without leaning into to 1-2' away. I am encouraged by seeing 4K monitors at 28"-32" so I'm hoping the manufactures will see people with 2-3 monitor setup and test market a ~50" screen at that demographic....
  10. True but even now they are testing out filming at different FPS - unless The Hobbit was the first(?) and last of it's kind
  11. Will we ever see some of the new monitor technologies cross over and be implemented into TV's? Specifically I'm thinking about Gsync and Freesync being implemented into 4K TVs' As well as pushing higher refresh rates to larger screens. I would love nothing more than to have a 50" or 55" 4K TV which has a max refresh rate of 120Hz and integerated Gsync or freesync. (I believe Display Port 1.3 has a bit enough bit rate to allow for that) I want the world! I did some testing a number of months ago with the Seiki 39" TV, with the 50" firmware flashed on it to enable true 120Hz refresh at 1080p. 1) 4K truly is eye-popping gorgeous. Instantly noticeable 2) 120Hz was nice but not as instantly noticeable as the resolution improvement (and this is coming from someone who has been at 1600p for the last few years) 3) obviously the GPU horse power is slowly catching up which makes the Sync technologies just about a "must-have" if you're planning on playing anything from the past 5 years or so. Is the market for such a panel just too small? Should I being to look into an indiegogo project akin to what these guys did? https://www.indiegogo.com/projects/ncase-m1-mini-itx-pc-case
  12. Definitely could be with some streams, but this is dreamhack that I'm watching. It was fine yesterday morning but last night I noticed a distinct degradation on streams which are usually fine for me.
  13. I'm trying to figure out why TWITCH is a heaping pile of crap over the past few days but I know next to nothing about networking. Where is a good place to start to try and see why I'm getting buffering every 15 seconds? I started with SpeedTest and with Windows Task Manager, but ST indicates I've got 50MB down and TM shows nothing that indicates anything is wrong.
  14. Would there be any use to using like weeping tile or maybe even a pool noodle split open on one side to put the cables into? The shelves I have from Ikea don't hold the amount of cabling I have well enough...
  15. What are your best cable management tips and tricks? I'm pretty defeated at this point
  16. K thanks, I'll keep Ultramon in mind. I have don the power down the 2nd monitor and booted with the first, shut down power on and then turn on the 2nd. We'll see if that corrects the issue. Is it ok that on the Nvidia control panel my main monitor is listed as 2 ?
  17. Hello; I have 2x Dell U3011 monitors attached to my GTX Titan. One via Dual Link DVI and one via Display Port. Depending upon which monitor I turn on first, the icons on my desktop will shift. For instance if I turn on my main monitor I will have no visible desktop icons until I turn on my second monitor. Any idea what causes this and if I should get a DP splitter (thinking that would solve it?)
  18. Just curious - does it cost a noticeable amount to leave it on? Does it wear anything out? Does it put it more at risk to hackers if it is always on?
  19. It will **IF YOU LET IT**. You need to write - you need to CALL! Every Single Day (ok well seriously at least weekly) my name is X from XXX and my zip code is XXXXX (staff'll love you for the foresight). I'd like to let the senator know that I do not support the FCC's recently passed plan to allow telcoms to alter bandwidth speed on a per-content-provider basis. Further, please let the senator know that I rise in support of reclassification of internet service providers under Title II entities. Make sure your representatives know in very clear terms that you do not suppose this.
