  1. Mobo is ROGStrix B650-A Top left corner on the board is the CPU power connection. It’s 12 pins - 8+4. The 8 is what everyone expects, the 4 if for support for overclocking I believe. So I have a breakaway 4+4 pin plugged into it However - on the PSU itself the locking mechanism does not fit as there is a lock on each one of the 4+4, not just one in the middle, or half on each. https://imgur.com/DNAiSLP https://imgur.com/PDOo2gO On the other end the 4 is plugged into the cpu plug mobo manual https://imgur.com/6bOCEOW and mobo CPU plugged in https://imgur.com/hR6Z9ND
  2. Yes sorry I didn’t notice the comments here - a new proper cable worked as expected. I was lucky I was able to test other cables against the suspected faulty one
  3. one more question about the A50's - the dolby access exists on both PS5 and Xbox versions, it just comes down to buy the license? (included with Xbox version, not included with PS5?) So another way of asking - if I buy ths PS version and buy a basestation only for xbox I can swap easily and get the Atmos with the Xbox basestation.....right?
  4. Hello I'm looking at picking up a new headset. Currently looking at the Astro A50 vs the Arctis Nova Pro Wireless. My sticking point is that I will be using them for both Xbox and Playstation. What is PS5's 3D audio like? Is it really something I need to consider? Will there be any issues with either of them? Googling tells me I need an adapter for the A50s? And then googling tells me I don't need the adapter, but I'm not sure what is lost if I dont get the adapter? (I do know not to get the Astro adapter because it's only for HDMI 2.0, not 2.1) The sale on the A50's makes it the more appealing choice right now. Does anyone have hands on experience? Thanks for the input!
  5. Great call! It was the install folder for the Xbox Game Pass. It doesn't recognize it normally as its stored in their native xbox format. Thanks!!
  6. C drive is RAID0 with 2 x 500GB 970's Both drives are recognized and so total space is shown as 930GB However a full 450GB is unavailable for use. It is not full, it is not in use. you can see on the screen shot that WinDirStat show 450GB as "Unknown". Windows explorer counts that amount as in use, however it is not. As we can see on WinDirStat it's not addressable. I cannot delete it, I cannot "explore here". It exists but that is all. I assume this means one of the SSD's has an issue? (even though it is recognized in the Bios, and Disk Manager, and Windows Explorer? Any suggestions?
  7. Cable failure confirmed. Had to borrow another 8K cable from a local store, disconnect the PC, move it over to the tv to test with. Boom proper 4K @ 120hz (actually I had it up to 144hz without issue)
  8. From a fresh start the TV exhibits the same behaviour as in the last post. I assume this is a cable issue?
  9. The above was done using port 4 on the TV. I attempted to use other ports and this is what happened: plug in HDMI TV detects new source and asks "Is this a PC" I hold "Down" on the remote to indicate source is a PC TV displays PC as 4k x 2k 60 hz. Under PC resolutions in Nvidia Control Panel (pictured in OP) the highest resolution available shown is only 2560 x 1600 I enable "Input Signal Plus" through the TV settings and additional resolutions appear. I select 3840x 2160 120hz apply it and it sticks. I turn GAME MODE on through the TV settings and the TV goes black This behaviour is repeated on other ports. As well this is why it's so hard to trouble shoot because the symptoms keep changing. I'm still not sure if it's the cable or the TV TV is currently off and I will turn on again in a few minutes to see what happens after it's been at rest for a bit
  10. yes the cable should be good - 8K compatible == 120hz @ 4K and the 3080Ti is 2.1 as well as the S95B. The S95B is supposed to be able to hit 144Hz too based on HDTVTest (Linus referred to this vid in one of his as well)
  11. Hello, This gets a bit confusing so I will do my best to be clear: 3080 Ti 8K optical HDMI cable https://www.monoprice.com/product?p_id=38626 Samsung S95B Computer does have two other monitors (unsure if that plays into this) This is where we are starting. We can see the S95B is only set to 60Hz. I wish to select 120Hz I select this resolution, I click apply I get the pop up count down box and I click Yes (keep changes) The Resolution box blinks white and reappears at which point the original 4k x 2k resolution @ 60hz is selected and nothing has changed - the resolution I tried to select and apply is not set. 1) the S95B is set to Game Mode 2) The "External Device Manager" -> Input Signal Plus is selected (radio button is selected) **** I did have this working last night - I do not know how I got it working. I played around for an hour shut it off in frustration, came back after a break and it all just worked. **HOWEVER** during game play the screen would intermittently go black for a second or two. I switched to a much older game and experienced the same issue, just less often. I'm not sure what to do. Any trouble shooting steps I should take to rule other things out?
  12. I just purchased a new TV - I got suckered into grabbing the new QD-OLED QN65S95B from Samsung. I guess if I want "to get the most" out of the TV I need all new HDMI cables, as I have mainly "High speed" and only 1 Premium, with no "Ultra High Speed" The difference is that UHS is the only one capable of carrying HDMI 2.1 If I'm wrong please correct me I need to know. So it seems I need all new cables 2x 4' for the Xbox and PS 1x 12' for the PC *I'm not sure this is even viable but I'm hoping it is 1x 2' for the HDMI switch Without access to the type of tester LTT used in their video what would indicate a cable is failing? Artifacts? Thanks!
  13. Hitting the road for a vacation and looking for recommendations of hand held consoles for some retro gaming for my son. I see tons of emulation machines but no idea what’s good and what a ripoff. Any suggestions? Thanks!
  14. I recently realized I was running my 3080Ti with a 650w PSU. A 750w is recommended. JayZ serendipitously released his "Never do these 5 things" videos in which he stated to not reuse PSU cables. In my instance I'm going from an EVGA G3 to an EVGA G6. Same brand but I want to be safe - should I still re-cable my entire build or is would this be an acceptable time to simply swap the PSU itself and reuse all the existing cables?
  15. I know LTT did secret shopper videos on this a year ago but I don't think they all ship to Canada. What are the best ones to look at if ordering from Canada?
  16. Andy showcased a device to clean up retro console signals and convert from RGB to hdmi. What was this device? I've recently picked up a PS2 and am looking to try it out on modern tv.
  17. Hello, I am worried the jokes with Madison are too close to going wrong. This includes going on too long. I completely understand the joke and laughed at first but now I'm a little hesitant to laugh at the latest tweet even though its still just the same joke. Maybe it's just stirring up old memories for me now (and even now I'm talking like 30 years ago...), but I think it's better to publicly building people up? I feel really awkward writing this but I hope it read with an open mind. I just don't want other people to experience what I have experienced when a joke like this goes on too long - or the wrong people decide to dog pile. (please don't make poor assumptions about me due to my low post count. I have been lurking since the very beginning of LTT)
  18. Can the cord hangers be used on the underside of a desk or will that change in orientation cause them to pop open?
  19. Are there any good tutorials out there on how to set up and use a TS451 (or similar NAS). Mine simply sits on my desk and I'm sure I'm not getting the most out of it simply because I don't have a clue. Everything I've searched on thus far is either way off topic or not a similar enough model for me to gain anything out of it. Things I'd like to learn about: 1) Setting it up in RAID0, and then later RAID5 as I get HDD's 2) Making it available for use throughout my home (easiest way of accessing it via my media center, via my wife's laptop...etc) 3) A General tutorial - I was expecting to be able to treat it as just another drive through my PC, but so far I've been having to go through the web interface for everything....??
  20. I just had a realization the other day that I no longer used vendor drivers when I re-installed windows 10. Not 100% but the only drivers I had to install were Soundblasfer for my sound card, AmBx for my gaming lights, - and even Nvidias driver somehow was getting installed when I would re-install the OS. I even run a RAID0 for my boot drive and never had to install Intel IRST drivers at installation time. just curious if other people noticed the same?
  21. hopefully this helps - a sata power connector is the power cable that would go from your PSU to your HDD or SSD power port. See 9:49 for a quick shot as to what he's plugging in
  22. Which Noctua fans do you preferr?
