It seems like they've gotten costs under control and they have products people actually want to buy. The 6000 series and 7000 series early on were very lackluster, and at the same time their chips couldn't compete with Intel's performance. Now they have APUs that people want for small builds and graphics cards that gamers and coin miners want to buy. I think things are looking up for AMD but they are certainly not out of the woods yet, but they're far from bankruptcy and I think they're headed in the right direction.
 
As for the stock price, that means very little. Investors can be very finicky about companies seen as riskier like AMD, so even a net profit will likely be ignored in the face of declining revenue.

However, the company also projected a decline in revenue for the first quarter. For the current quarter, AMD expects revenue to be about 16% less than the latest period, plus or minus 3%. Analysts polled by Thomson Reuters were expecting revenue of $1.36 billion. For the fourth quarter, AMD reported a profit of $89 million, or 12 cents a share, compared with a year-earlier loss of $473 million, or 63 cents a share. Excluding restructuring and other charges and amortization, the company reported a per-share profit of six cents, compared with a loss of 14 cents a share a year earlier. Analysts were expecting a per-share profit of five cents. Sales jumped 38% to $1.59 billion, topping the company's October projection for about $1.53 billion, which was slightly more than market expectations at the time. So as AMD actually turns a profit, could this be the turn around that everyone thought would never happen? What do you think about the next quarter? Up from today? or down? Why?

This specific organization is "dedicated to helping support and defend public-interest journalism focused on exposing mismanagement, corruption, and law-breaking in government." Essentially they accept donations and crowd fund in order to support other organizations trying to expose government corruption.

yeah maybe, but you can't possibly say "Phenom II bottlenecks anything passed a 7850".  bottlenecking isn't that clear cut.  There are so many software variables.  Maybe it will be a CPU bottleneck when a helicopter explodes and the CPU has to do a lot of physics calculations. But maybe it will be the GPU if you are looking at a waterfall and the GPU has to process all those reflections.

as for op @jaywee, does the gpu even start up when yyou turn the computer on?
does your power supply have 48amps or w.e on all your 12v rails?
sometimes its not the wattage that matters. if you dont have enough amps running to your gpu it will just not have enough power to do anything..

It no doubt exists, and no denying it either. Our earth's history had shown a tendancy to heat and cool over large swaths of time.

I will stand by whatever the data tells us. The only question I have is, how is our carbon dioxide/monoxide emissions not warming up the Earth. Or is it slowing the cooling. How about other effects as well. Migration patterns happening later because of how warm it is and species that normally live more south have migrated northward. We can't just take one set of data and say "Oh, global warming isn't happening afterall". Looking at the bigger picture, for example, migration patterns are still more delayed.

you don't need power for a NAS, I would recommend basically getting the cheapest stuff possible (that is still reliable). Maybe a motherboard/CPU/VGA combo.   It might be a good idea to get separate NIC though. I don't have personal experience, but cheap motherboard nics supposedly can slow transfer speeds-which is pretty important in a NAS.
 
ummm, maybe more than 2GB of ram? windows at least takes up the better part of 2GB, idk about FreeNAS or ubuntu. 

Good job... and that is what it normally take - a LOT of patience to get working...
