  1. If you read the fine print at the mobo manufacturers websites you will see it does and will in some cases ... and yes ... they do support it but if you are just gaming on the rig ... it does nothing except raise the Cas Lanency
  2. The Ram you have selected is 1.65v and may void the warranty of mobo and cpu and ram. You want to use 1.5v on the Haswell refresh CPUs and mobos. and unless you are using ramdisk or using some programs that benefit from it ... the 2400Mhz is a waste of money 1866Mhz CL8 or CL9 1.5v is what you need
  3. yeah I did not see the part about streaming ... I just saw game build ... sorry
  4. Call me a "fanboy' but that is one of the best Z97 boards out there ... especially at the $200 price point
  5. THIS would game very well just add a good set of headphones and has large ennough of PSU to add second GTX 970 and more drives in the future PCPartPicker part list / Price breakdown by merchant CPU: Intel Core i5-4690K 3.5GHz Quad-Core Processor ($199.99 @ Micro Center) CPU Cooler: NZXT HAVIK 140 90.3 CFM CPU Cooler ($66.93 @ Amazon) Motherboard: Asus MAXIMUS VII HERO ATX LGA1150 Motherboard ($203.99 @ NCIX US) Memory: Kingston Fury Black Series 16GB (2 x 8GB) DDR3-1866 Memory ($159.99 @ Amazon) Storage: Samsung 840 EVO 120GB 2.5" Solid State Drive ($79.81 @ Amazon) Storage: Western Digital Caviar Blue 1TB 3.5" 7200RPM Internal Hard Drive ($54.98 @ OutletPC) Video Card: Asus GeForce GTX 970 4GB STRIX Video Card ($355.91 @ Newegg) Case: NZXT H440 (Black/Red) ATX Mid Tower Case ($109.99 @ Micro Center) Power Supply: SeaSonic G-750 750W 80+ Gold Certified Semi-Modular ATX Power Supply ($84.99 @ Newegg) Monitor: Asus VN248H 23.8" Monitor ($187.58 @ Newegg) Wireless Network Adapter: Intel 7260HMWDTX1 802.11a/b/g/n/ac PCI-Express x1 Wi-Fi Adapter ($45.99 @ SuperBiiz) Keyboard: Logitech G710 Wired Gaming Keyboard ($118.13 @ Amazon) Mouse: Logitech G502 Wired Optical Mouse ($59.99 @ Newegg) Total: $1728.27 Prices include shipping, taxes, and discounts when available Generated by PCPartPicker 2014-10-26 20:33 EDT-0400
  6. alwaysFXS said What cheaper mobo has the same build quality and superior sound offered on the Hero???
  7. The i5 will not be good for editing or rendering or live streaming ... and the CM EVO 212 will do a good job of cooling unless you get crazy with the OCs And if you can't get the GTX 970 get an R9 290x
  8. Just a few dollars over budget ... but got the R4 case the i7 and good Asus mobo and 16GB ram , 1080p monitor , SSD , 1TB HDD , GTX 970 GPU PCPartPicker part list / Price breakdown by merchant CPU: Intel Core i7-4790K 4.0GHz Quad-Core Processor ($358.89 @ DirectCanada) CPU Cooler: Cooler Master Hyper 212 EVO 82.9 CFM Sleeve Bearing CPU Cooler ($33.07 @ DirectCanada) Motherboard: Asus Z97-P ATX LGA1150 Motherboard ($129.95 @ Vuugo) Memory: Kingston Fury Black Series 16GB (2 x 8GB) DDR3-1866 Memory ($159.98 @ NCIX) Storage: A-Data XPG SX900 128GB 2.5" Solid State Drive ($77.99 @ Canada Computers) Storage: Western Digital Caviar Blue 1TB 3.5" 7200RPM Internal Hard Drive ($54.98 @ DirectCanada) Video Card: EVGA GeForce GTX 970 4GB ACX 2.0 Video Card ($379.99 @ NCIX) Case: Fractal Design Define R4 w/Window (Black Pearl) ATX Mid Tower Case ($94.99 @ Memory Express) Power Supply: EVGA 500W 80+ Bronze Certified ATX Power Supply ($39.99 @ NCIX) Monitor: AOC E2260SWDN 60Hz 21.5" Monitor ($109.88 @ Canada Computers) Total: $1439.71 Prices include shipping, taxes, and discounts when available Generated by PCPartPicker 2014-10-26 16:27 EDT-0400
  9. Here is another option that has OC potential and an R9 290 GPU faster 1866Mhz CL9 ram and an SSD PCPartPicker part list / Price breakdown by merchant CPU: AMD Athlon X4 860K 3.7GHz Quad-Core Processor ($84.00 @ NCIX US) CPU Cooler: Cooler Master Hyper 212 EVO 82.9 CFM Sleeve Bearing CPU Cooler ($28.98 @ OutletPC) Motherboard: Asus A88X-PRO ATX FM2+ Motherboard ($101.98 @ OutletPC) Memory: G.Skill Sniper Series 8GB (2 x 4GB) DDR3-1866 Memory ($81.99 @ Newegg) Storage: Mushkin Chronos 120GB 2.5" Solid State Drive ($59.99 @ Newegg) Storage: Western Digital Caviar Blue 1TB 3.5" 7200RPM Internal Hard Drive ($54.98 @ OutletPC) Video Card: HIS Radeon R9 290 4GB IceQ X² Video Card ($229.99 @ Newegg) Case: Corsair 200R ATX Mid Tower Case ($38.98 @ NCIX US) Power Supply: Corsair Builder 600W 80+ Bronze Certified ATX Power Supply ($49.99 @ Newegg) Total: $714.88 Prices include shipping, taxes, and discounts when available Generated by PCPartPicker 2014-10-26 14:49 EDT-0400
  10. It depends ... both builds have there own strengths and weaknesses The Intel will game well ... but is a dead end ... no chance to OC and not a great rig for productivity or multitasking The AMD will multi task and can be OC'ed and come close to the gaming performance of the Intel
  11. Yes we need more information to better help you... what will the PC be used for ? Gaming only? video editing ? 3D rendering? just web surfing ? IF EDITING OR RENDERING which apps do you use? whats your budget ? (do mail in rebates count against budget?) do you need peripherals? monitor? mouse or keyboard , speakers? headset? Operating System? what country and what currency? do you have a preferred vendor? (sometimes much more expensive to have only one vendor) any other info that may help us help you.
  12. Adde at least one backup drive ... it would be a shame to lose all your hard work ... just because of a drive failure and you may consider dual GTX 780Ti s the price is falling and they are better for rendering
  13. Build it yourself ... it is all snap together ... I have build model planes that were harder to assemble
  14. If you can get a good AIO for under $30 bucks ... I'll give you a cookiue or something
  15. Seasinic or XFX or Corsair 80+ bronze or better ... some newer Cooler Master's ... I am still debating which ones
