  1. I have an Asus Maximus VI HERO whit an Intel i7-4770k, some time ago I saw a tutorial on how to modify the BIOS to enable boot from the NVMe drive but at the moment I can't find it. I have 2 16x slots free and away from the GPU but on Amazon I only saw a 4x card that I like, there are also some 16x cards but they don't have the rear support bracket and I don't trust them I want the SSD and the adaper card so when I buy the new motherbord I can get rid of the adapter and use the SSD directly on the motherboard
  2. I want to add an NVMe SSD to my old computer, I plan to upgrade everything but I don’t have the money to do it all at once so I want to start to the most critical part. In a couple of months I will buy a new motherboard and CPU, it seems a “waste” to buy a regular SSD now. Maybe I will not get the performance and convenience of the m.2 now but unfortunately the SSD is old and it’s abandoning me so it’s the first thing I need to change. Is there something particular that I should look for when I’m buying the PCI adapter card or are they all the same? Should I buy a 4x or a 16x card? Thanks
  3. Ok thank you, I was trying to pass it through a VM but it wasn't working, it worked with an USB pendrive so I was beginning to doubt that was possible to just move the hard disk to the external enclosure and being recognized by Linux.
  4. I had a computer with Linux installed on an SSD and it had an hard disk formatted in ext4 that I was using just to store files, can I move the hard disk to an external enclosure and attach it to another Linux machine? Thanks
  5. Found the solution: computer date was set to 2099
  6. Some time ago I shared a folder on a computer with Ubuntu via Samba, yesterday I tried to access it with my computer with Windows 10 installed but it gives me the following error message: I tried searching on the internet but I didn't find any answer, is there anyone who can help me? Thanks
  7. A few days ago I installed the latest Windows update (KB4503293) and my Logitech G935 headphones stopped working. I've read dozens of articles about the fact that the update is affecting some Bluetooth devices but I didn't find anyone who actually had problems with any device. Logitech hasn't released any updates yet and I'm back to the previous version of Windows to solve the problem. I guess I can't stay on this version of Windows forever, has someone had the same problem or can help me solve it? Thank you
  8. It works great and I haven't had any problems with the new card
  9. Hi! I recently installed Ubuntu 17.04 in place of Windows 10 in a computer that I use to share a hard drive over the network, everything works (for the moment) but I have some questions since I do not understand much about these things: -Now I'm sharing a temporary hard drive (Ext4 file system) to do some tests and from another computer with Windows 10 I see a folder called "lost+found" that I can't see from Linux. I also connected another hard disk (NTFS file system) and other folders appeared in addition to my files, this time however the hard disk was not shared and I saw the folders directly from Linux. My question is: Can I delete or hide these folders? -I was moving random files on the hard disk (Still the temporary one I mentioned earlier) to see the performance and if everything worked but with some files I get the error "Copy the file without its properties? The file includes properties that can not be copied to the new location". Any clarification about this? -Before installing linux I was sharing a hard disk with NTFS file system, can I continue to use the hard drive as it is or is it better to format it and use the Ext4 file system? All PCs in the network use Windows, apart for a Mac. Thanks to everyone for the help
  10. I did not open them. I've read that Ubuntu already has all the ports open, is it true? EDIT: I only opened the ports on Windows and it worked. Thank you very much for helping
  11. I've installed XRDP, in theory with Ubuntu 17.04 is the only thing I have to do.
  12. Hi, yesterday I installed Ubuntu 17.04 and I spent all day trying to connect via Remote Desktop Connection from my Windows 10 computer to Linux. In the end I came to the point where I can enter the username and password correctly, the problem is that the connection closes instantly without any error message. I did not find any solution apart from changing resolution but, in my case, it only takes a few more seconds to close.
  13. The best solution is to buy the 720W version, although for most of the time there will be a load of 200-300W. Also the battery life does not bother me because here the power fails for just a second, it rarely happens that there's no current for more than a few minutes.
  14. If I buy a 720W or a 860W UPS, could it lose efficiency with a load of 50-60W?
