  1. I remember in June of 2018 trying to decide whether to get a 10 series card since they were so old at that point or waiting for the 20 series cards which were sure to offer better bang for buck. So I impatiently grabbed a 1070 ti from evga since they have the step up program if any new cards come out... I'm glad that the 20 series doesn't do shit in a price to performance perspective since that means I made a "good" investment but it also pisses me off since they should've been out last year at around the same prices as the 10 series +yearly price creep but were held until now and then not pushed as a better value in any way...
  2. Honestly I would also definitely recommend checking out EVGA. I was able to pick up their 1070 ti sc black edition for $450 new and their warranty alone is excellent. Just by registering it you get an additional 2 years. So that's not bad at all. Plus imo their cards look good and neutral and the fans are quiet enough. I've had bad luck with Asus gpu cooling solutions sucking but their rma team is excellent. On that hand I've never actually had a problem with msi's cards in the first place so...
  3. Currently I'm using a Pixel XL as my OP3 was stolen, and It's been getting a little long in the tooth but it's so difficult to find an actual replacement. Its camera is still fantastic and it has a headphone jack with battery life that actually gets me regularly through 2 days sometimes 3. But after the pie update, it's been getting really, really slow for some reason in really mundane things like opening hangouts. Like I'll click hangouts and it opens it to the loading white screen, and then I get to wait about 30 seconds for it to let me actually send a text. It doesn't even happen every time, sometimes I'll go to another app and switch back and it'll do the same thing for no reason. Long story short I was excited for the pixel 3 xl until I heard about the price at which point I was excited for the OP6t. UNTIL THEY REMOVED THE DAMN HEADPHONE JACK. So now it seems like my choice is between an lg v40/g7 or an s9+ and I've had bad experiences with both companies so at this point it looks like I'll just be waiting for my og pixel xl to die before a new phone. So gg oneplus. Y u do dis ?
  4. I don't completely disagree with you but the fact that you can ask someone if they have a pixel 3 and they'll actually be able to give you an answer of no rather than "what's a One plus?" means that you're probably sadly wrong.
  5. Rip I have a mini itx system anyways so no expansion cards for me?
  6. Unfortunately for me I'm using a usb mic XD
  7. I do agree that something like the 2600x (OP doesn't want to oc) makes more sense unless you plan to stream. Though with that said, for virtualization purposes, the 2700x would make sense. You shouldn't worry about thermals on the 2700x. Using something like the hyper 212 evo or something or even something cheap like a cooler master 120mm aio and it should be fine. If you're really concerned about thermals then you can disable the auto core boosting and that'll keep the cpu within tdp solving the thermal issues. I wouldn't leave it at 1.4v since some mobos will lock it at that voltage and gamersnexus showed that not all mobos actually output the same voltage that they are saying.
  8. Noctua's p12 redux are fantastic. So are corsair's ml120, sp120qe, sp120rgb, hp12, ek's vardars if you can find one without the ball bearing, bequiet's silent wings 3, phantek's ph-f120mp is decent, thermaltake's riing 12 are okay but there are better options for the price. The p12 redux are probably my recommendation right next to the ml120 pro's. They are silent and cheapish and you get the option of 1300rpm or 1700rpm.
  9. If I had to take a guess... 4096 bits. But that was already guessed so I'm probably wrong? Very cool piece of tech though? Rip I was answering while the answer was being put into the thread.
  10. If you're waiting for intel to "fix" its pricing, well you'll probably be waiting just as long as people who want better price to performance ratios in Nvidias new gpu's. Ryzen really is good enough for pretty much everything. On an r5 1600 at 3.85Ghz pretty much every game runs perfectly. Gta V is still weird sometimes on ryzen but it's barely noticeable. If you can grab the 2700x or even the 2600x on a good deal then you're killing it.
  11. +1 on replacing the thermal paste. But also the mistake was choosing asus for an r9 card. Asus is great but they design their coolers for Nvidia cards so they tend to do much worse on r9 cards. My r9 285 strix usually sat around 85-90 and got loud. So another couple of suggestions that are going to cost more money are: grab an all in one liquid cooler and zip tie it to the gpu or using nzxt's g12, get something like an arctic accelero extreme heat sink, or the most expensive option of getting a custom water block and delving into custom cooler.
  12. "listen to this device" messes me up badly too. Ples fix microsoft. But anywho I got the original hyperx clouds from when they came out so I didn't have a choice from hyperx's excellent gaming lineup. XD
  13. Ooooo what gpu did you get?
  14. Yeah I totally forgot about that. On one side the closer the impedance of the amp is to the impedance of the headphone then in theory the less power loss. But yes higher than 8x difference is preferred. It was just a suggestion. My a30 does pretty well with my he4xx but I suspect that is more due to the pretty even phase and impedance response and the already bright nature of the he4xx. The magni 3 would undoubtedly be the better pick but some people swear by topping and everybody has their preferences. Tubes typically have higher impedances and people still like their signature so really it should be more about the "synergy" and user preference. Thank you for pointing that out though. I remember Amir mentioning that in his magni 3 review.
  15. It's really a split of whether or not you care about ray tracing. Which isn't out yet... But anywho the 3Gb additional buffer does have some impact as in Rise of The Tomb Raider on a gtx 1070 ti in dx12 mode with the highest texture setting, I use more than 8gb of vram at 1080p. just food for thought. On an off topic, why wont the 1070 ti use more than 7.5Gb ram nvidia? cough cough 970.
  16. Currently rotating between Sennheiser HD58x, HD6xx, and Hifiman's HE4xx with a pair of HD598's and hyperx clouds kicking around somewhere. This is all being powered by a gigabyte ab350n (alc1220) connected to a Schiit Magni 3 pumping out spottify's highest quality streamed pcm. Looking into a dac but the topping d10 wouldn't arrive before I moved and the massdrop x Grace design uses a micro b instead of full sized b ?
  17. I've heard mostly good things about Audiotechnica's ath-m50x and m40x but I cannot confirm. Iem wise, massdrop has their edc and edc3 both under $100 and both have detachable cables. The edc are less expensive and the more "fun" sounding pair with better bass whereas the edc3 are more neutral and while they sound fantastic, they definitely lack bass. I've heard that beyerdynamic's dt770 doesn't block noise out very well even though it is closed back, however it does have a pretty good sound signature for most genres especially bass heavy ones. On another note, fostex claims that their t50rp series are isolating and the dekoni blues are both comfortable and sound great but they require an amp of some sort and since the headphones are already $200 by themselves, you'd probably have to break budget to get a great amp. Just food for thought
  18. Honestly you might as well go with the hd58x and save yourself $50. I own both and the hifiman he4xx and the difference between the 58x and the 6xx is existant, but not incredibly vast. Switching between the two it's pretty much a tossup on which one I prefer at that moment. With that being said, the 58x don't necessarily need an amp and the 6xx do definitely sound better with one. The he4xx are also a good pick and literally a middle ground between the two in price and that choice comes down to your taste in sound signature. The 4xx has smoother lows and quicker all around sound while the sennheisers have a more relaxed sound with the 58x sounding ever so slightly more lively than the 6xx. If you coupled that with something like a Schiit Fulla 2 or something a little more high end like Aune T1 SE MK3 if you like tubes or Massdrop O2 + SDAC then you'd have a good setup. The latter two would leave you with about $100 left if you did the 58x and if you paired those with the fulla 2 then you'd have $150 left to put into something like maybe a better gpu or fancy peripherals or monitors(both visual and audial).
  19. Well if based on the links you provided that your budget is indeed around $250, then instead of the 598's, I'd definitely get the Sennheiser hd58x if you don't want to use an amp and the Sennheiser hd6xx, Hifiman he4xx, AKG K7xx, Dekoni blue, Fostex t60rp(maybe), Beyerdynamic DT 770/880/990, or something of that sort. If that is your budget, then something inexpensive like a schiit fulla 2 is decent, magni 3 if you only need an amp, topping a30, objective 2 amp of some sort or massdrops sdac/o2 combo would be good add ons for better sound. Also of note is that I can enjoy my he4xx and hd58x from my computer without an amp but my hd6xx really do need an amp.
  20. The dekoni blue or the t60rp are probably the best way to go out of these especially since you could buy them for about $200 and then pick up something like a magni 3 or topping a30 or really any decently regarded amp for under $100. The dekoni blue for sure have quite a bit of thump i've been told.
  21. Even better than that I just connected the router to both items and disabled wireless on the router and it just works which is great. Thank you to everyone who answered!
  22. Gotcha that makes sense. It's an older Netgear something or other that does abgn at 300mbps but I'll give it a shot when I get home. I like the idea. ?
  23. Both great options. Honestly what I've noticed is holding me back on my 1070 ti is that specifically in rise of the tomb raider in dx12 mode with the highest textures, I get heavy stuttering due to the fact that the game literally uses more vram than the card has which is insane. But for 1080p if you're willing to not completely crank every game you have the 1070 is good enough with the 1070 ti being a nice to have if you can afford it.
  24. Oh dear all of these problems with the early drivers for the 2080 are making me nervous of my evga step up to it? on that note the improvements are from driver improvements and I'd expect that the micro stuttering may be from driver weirdness or old driver remnants still being there or something.
  25. I have the gaming black edition of this card and while I immediately took off the cooler and put a waterblock on it, the single 8 pin will be fine unless you plan on doing some power modding and sub ambient cooling. Mine boosts up to 2050Mhz and stabilizes around 2026Mhz. Definitely go for the aio as the ten seconds I ran the stock heatsink, it wasn't loud, but it was noticeable.
