Yeah, that would save some space. Not sure if I’m ready to do custom loop water cooling yet though. It’s nice to not have to worry about liquids. 😊

I would take a look at your motherboard's BIOS, and just try different fan curves. Ideally you want it very low when the CPU is cool, and then you want them to ramp up once it's underload. The only way you can really test this is to set it in the BIOS, then run some benchmarks and see where the noise level and temps are at. You've got a lot of fans, so it's not surprising that they would be pretty noisy. As for the GPU, same kind of idea but with whatever software controls their fan curve(I believe MSI Afterburner will do it?).

ML fans require 12v for the magnetic levitation bearings to work properly. The case fan control uses variable voltage instead of 12v pwm to control fan speeds. Plug the fans directly into the motherboard or cooler fan headers instead.
What rpm are you running the fans at? If you haven't already, try a Quiet preset from the motherboard settings.

Thanks! Did all of the above and it worked. Slot 2 would basically end up suffocating the GPU, so I tried again in slot 1, but no luck.

I think there might have been some dust caught in the first PCIE slot since I got it to work after a few tries after blowing into the slot.

Tordal got a reaction from rheyL in Wrist pain
Just a quick update for those of you who might visit this thread. My wrist pain has gradually faded, despite the gaming and work activities staying the same (or maybe even increased). At the moment I can barely feel anything, so at this rate it should be completely gone in a month or two.

    I've done the following things:
Created a copy and paste macro on my work PC (no more reaching down for the Ctrl button with my pinky). Created some auto-play macros on my work PC (for working in spreadsheets and Microsoft Dynamics AX) to solve repetetive work (leaning back and drinking coffee while the macro does the work for the win! Bought a Razer game pad for my late night WoW gaming (quite a bit more ergonomic than the square standard keyboard I use for typing). Wrist rests all over the place, both for mouse and keyboards. 1-3 minute breaks every hour, to stretch my legs and do some simple muscle exercises (the latter only once per day at the start and less often now). Hopefully someone can find this info helpful.

I'm not sure but it sounds like one of the ram slots might be going out slowly, but that's just speculation. try taking out the last ram stick (2nd if you have 2 sticks, 4th if you have 4 sticks) and swapping them around and removing them one by one, one of the dimms could also be corrupt, or your os might be corrupted and might need a fresh install. a laggy mouse can be a product of not having enough memory, or none at all, leading to your cpu having to use the tiny amount of memory it has, and then using your storage in place of physical memory. there could also be some type of malware issue, try checking your cpu usage in task manager to see if something is eating it up.

I've had the Focusrite Scarlet 2i2 sound card for a while now, and I've had a "problem" with it since I bought it really.

Every time I start up my PC I have to unplug the sound card, and plug it back in. If I don't do that both in- and outgoing sound will sound like a distorted robot voice (impossible to make out words or even melodies).

I've tried plugging it into USB2, USB3, USB hubs, updating drivers, uninstalling the drivers and doing a fresh install, formatting my PC... I've even changed motherboard lately due to a re-build of my PC. The problem still persists.

    Has anyone been experiencing this?

I didn't originally intend to do a build log of this, so pardon the lack of images and not to mention the poor quality.

Anyways, after buying a new desk I realized that my case didn't fit into the cabinet, so I had to move my gaming rig into a smaller case. My choice landed on the Parvum Systems 2.0 case (pretty much just because I like the look of it, and it looked like a fun thing to build in).

This is what it used to look like in my Define R4 case:

So, time to take out the parts I need:

Starting to look like a PC now (ghetto mod of the tubing, cause I'm too lazy to do a custom loop):

For those wondering about how it was to build in the case, it was quite simple actually. Very easy to hide cables and make the build look tidy, and the PSU and other not-so-good-looking stuff is hidden behind the motherboard tray.

The CPU cutout was poorly positioned for my motherboard, so I had to take it off and mount the CPU cooler bracket first before putting it back in.

The plates sometimes doesn't fit perfectly (see last image, top left corner of the case). Next time I open it I will sand it down to get rid of that gap.

I'm not a big fan of the fan mounts on this case. If you want to use noise dampening rubber bits to hang up the fans then you've got some work ahead of you. I managed to do it, but it's not straight forward (had to cut off some parts of the rubber bits to make them fit through the holes.

    Hi!
After getting a bit into e-sports and wanting to use my TV a bit more, I decided to build myself a HTPC.
This is my 2nd build ever, and it's a pretty simple build. It's a bit fiddly installing the CPU cooler, but other than that it's straight forward.
And it's completely silent (as long as I'm not using the optical drive). A bit strange since I'm used to at least have silent fans as a confirmation that the system is running. Nice when watching movies though!
    Specs:
    - Case: Streacom FC5B Evo
    - Mobo: Gigabyte GA-Z87M.D3H
    - CPU: Intel Core i5-4570S
    - RAM: Crucial Ballistix Tactic LP (8GB)
    - Storage: Kingston HyperX 3k SSD (240GB)
    - PSU: Streacom NANO150 PSU adapter (150W)
    - ODD: Streacom ST-OB2 DVD/Blu-Ray

Super ready to start building!! :)

The inside of the case without any components in it

Motherboard is in and... Damn it... Lesson learned, never ask Komplett.no for help with picking components for you build!

Take two! Let's try again. Self picked motherboard this time :)

Passive CPU cooler in place! (came with the case)

SSD, RAM and the Nano-PSU installed. And some ugly cables as well! Glad there's no window :)

Ready to boot soon... Damn it #2... Not standard size. At least that's my fault for not noticing :)

Take three! Cable installed! The PSU cable was a bit short, and no way of extending it without modding, so it'll have to stay like it is :)

    Finished build:
A lousy attempt of doing some glamour shots with a mobile phone, roof lighting and on the floor :P
