Anita is a selfish person in it for the money. Although she does have some valid points about games she twists 99% of the games she talks about in a way to make them seem like they dehumanize women in ways they don't actually do. But you can't blame developers in trying to lean towards making the vast majority of people something more interesting for them (men.) And nobody better say there are as many female gamers, but it's not even close. Those statistics that back that statement up include the mobile market which many can argue aren't even made up of actual gamers.

Why is this women let anywhere near game devs.

In Taiwan they speak Mandarin, people often refer to their accent as "Taiwanese", but that is false, Taiwanese is a different dialect of Chinese that is only really spoken in secluded places by grandparents. Everyone speaks Mandarin.
I found Taiwan to be more modern in terms of their infrastructure than suprisingly enough, Seoul... So that is saying something.
The people are nice, as long as you actually make an effort to integrate into their culture and learn proper Mandarin.
While it is significantly more westernized than the rest of China, English still isn't spoken all that widely, but that is changing very quickly as English is now a mandatory course in their school curriculum now.
 
BUT, if you are sensitive to being made fun of, or "bullied", then don't go there; they won't hesitate to call you a 老外 (lǎowài). A good amount of the people are fairly xenophobic, but it isn't much of a problem, if you learn Mandarin they will accept you with open arms.

I always find topics like this amusing because everyone is different there will be a few people in their mid 90s lighting up right now and there will be a few people 6 feet under who were taken by SUNDS. I can't say the activities of a good few people around here are any better clocking up 1000s of hours playing games.

just one more thing. you do know that there are so many carcinogens in the air of big cities that it rivals smoking already? that i will be able to give proof soon, as im currently involved in a research of that. lets just say that cigs might not be the big killer anymore.
