  1. While this solves the issue for 4- and 6-core CPUs, it does nothing for 8-core CPUs. In fact, they are kind of more screwed since the unofficial fix no longer works as of patch 1.05. Bummer!
  2. Thank you so much for this. My performance is a little better, but definitly more consistent. Before this "fix", I was getting 40-50FPS outside V's appartment on the Ultra Preset DLSS Quality and the crap like motion blur and chromatic aberration OFF!! After the fix, my FPS is above 50-55 at the same settings. I will still turn down RT a little just to get higher frame rate and experiment with DLSS balanced with some sharpening, but that is just me wanting more FPS in what can be considered a first-person shooter. But, more importantly, this seems to mitigate a lot of the low GPU utilisation I was experiencing. Now, my GPU is always above 90% whereas it would dip to 80% or even lower before (outside V's apartment). Everyone with a Ryzen CPU should do this, and it is really frustrating that CDPR somehow let this slide. Like, come on. everyone I know has been buying Ryzen for the past year!
  3. Agreed. I think it will take a little more time for them to iron out the kinks. But I would still expect that if people follow the system recommendation for the CPU at whichever setting they are playing on, that the CPU not be a bottleneck like it is in arguably the most important part of the game. We will have to wait and see, but I for one will continue to report these things as well as crashes to CDPR so hopefully they can fix these by the time I give the game a second playthrough.
  4. I have an EVGA FTW3 Ultra, so it seems like the issue is vendor agnostic. The issue is also specifically in the open areas of Night City for me. In indoor places, I get around 65-75 FPS with 98% GPU utilisation.
  5. I have a R7 3700x and RTX 3080 and get about 45-55 FPS in night city at 3440x1440 ultra RTX with DLSS quality. On occasions, when the FPS is closer to 45, the GPU usage drops to 80% while the CPU usage stays at 50-60%. Looking at afterburner, it appears that some CPU cores are staying idle during gameplay, and the load it being distributed among the others, with some cores reaching 90% usage at time. So, it seems in my case that there is some CPU bottleneck even though my CPU (and that of many people here) is far above their recommendation for RTX Ultra. I have tried lowering DLSS quality ad changing other settings to high instead of Ultra, but it changed nothing in the performance for me, which makes sense if I am being CPU limited.
  6. I used to use the snipping tool to take screenshots, but then I discovered Greenshot. It has so many option, and you can set it to use the print screen key, as well as other variations of it like Ctrl+Prt.Sc for capturing only the window. There might be other programs to do it, but this is the one I know. If you take screenshots often, I would recommend anything over snipping tool.
  7. My nickname. 5 is also my favorite number, and I don't know why I have it three times! Coincidentally, 555 is written on the nail clippers I use, but no one wants to know that lol!
  8. YAY, another Natsume Yuujinchou Fan!! It is honestly one of my favs as well. No matter how bad I feel, watching this anime can get rid of all my problems and puts me in such a feel-good state!! The only other anime that has given me the same feels is Shouwa Genroku Rakugo Shinjuu.
  9. I was going to emulate this game on PC. I guess now I don't have to! YAY!!!
  10. Why do you need to carry so many things? You if you are planning to carry all your binders for all your classes, I would urge you to reconsider. You can make do with a single 2.5in binder and have dividers for all your classes which will contain only the more recent stuff, and store the rest in binders at home. Also, you can get digital versions of your textbooks, which will shave off tons of weight. However, if you still want to get a backpack for all this stuff, check out some of the hiking backpacks https://www.amazon.com/s/ref=dp_bc_6?ie=UTF8&keywords=large backpack&node=3400471. They are usually very tall, so you can stack the books and binder. There won't be a dedicated compartment for your laptop, but if you keep it in a sleeve, it should be well protected.
  11. Don't worry OP. I built my first computer a few years ago and was so scared, I watched literally dozens of YouTube videos on how to do it. Actually, the first video I watched was one of Linus' and it is what got me into technology. The experience you are looking for can only be had if you do it yourself, like you said. All the other comments are right. computer components are really not that fragile, so don't worry too much. When I built my computer, I plugged the PSU into an extension who's ground pin was broken (I know, stupid right). My entire case was electrified for some reason, and I was using it like that for about 1h until I found the problem. Surprisingly, nothing broke. Like most of the comments said, the only fragile thing is the CPU pins. Actually, the pins on the Rizen CPU are thicker and harder to bend than those on intel motherboards, so unless you obviously put it in wrong, and force on it a lot, you should be fine. Some common sense goes a long way. If it is not going in, don't force it! Another part where you can go wrong is plugging the power button cable into the wrong slot, so it won't turn on. Just consult the motherboard manual, and you will be fine. In fact, most computer stores can even install the CPU on the motherboard for you, for a small fee of course. Worst case scenario, they can do that part and you can build the rest, so you still get the experience Best of luck!!
  12. Agree. I wish I could get that monitor, but it is way too expensive lol.
  13. Welcome fellow anime fan!! It seems we both have pretty similar taste in anime, since I love most of the ones you mentioned. I understand you want anime that are still ongoing, but would like to mention you would be missing some true gems from years past!! Out of the ongoing ones, here are the few that I would recommend Attack on Titan (you are already watching this) Nanatsu No Taizai (Seven Deadly Sins) Some anime that are finished that I really likes, and that I think you would like as well, Steins;Gate Baccano! Angel Beats Death Note Code Geass Fate/Zero A good way to discover anime is to use the website MyAnimeList. It has info about pretty much any anime out there, as well as reviews from dedicated fans to help steer you in the right direction. Here is the link to my list if you want to see what I watched as well as rating I gave each anime. https://myanimelist.net/animelist/PusheenKill?status=7&order=4&order2=0 Last thing I want to mention. There are enough anime already completed to last a long time. Sometimes, I even feel like the anime I watched are way better than whatever anime are currently airing. Keep looking, I am sure there are tons of anime there that you will love
  14. The 6600k sounds like the better buy. Can be overclocked too so you can get a little more performance out of it that way. As for the RAM, It does not really matter that much, since almost all the popular brands will give great performance. Just make sure it is DDR4, since that is what Skylake supports.
  15. The i7-3770 is definitely better than the S variant in pretty much all scenarios, since it has higher clock speeds. However, I would definitely not pay 500$ for one. If you are willing to spend that amount of money, you should go for the i7-6700 instead!
