  1. They didn't originally price the vega64 at 600+... supply and demand is a thing. vega 64 was never intended to compete with 1080ti and you can see that based off the MSRP at launch. As far as the "extremely specific settings" did you not scroll down and look at 1440p and 4k? Its right.. there... But to each his own.
  2. Well its even ahead at 1440p as well according to this benchmark. And then slightly behind (7fps average) at 4k. If the prices were to stabilize ever, a $500 card keeping up or beating a $750 card is beyond worth.
  3. Thats true, i doubt people are playing 1080p with a 1080ti but im sure there are people out there. However its not so much as an incentive to go out and buy a rx vega now (prices are still too fubar) But this is still a possible sign of things to come if AMD can continue to make strides with dx12 games.
  4. This is what we wanted to see when we first heard about vega. To come out and beat the brakes off the 1080 and compete with the 1080ti. If this is indication of things to come im really excited. "So it appears there’s some magical driver wizadry that AMD has done to take advantage of the multi-threaded nature of DX12 " ^this needs to continue lol
  5. Thoughts? Concerns? What does this mean going forward for dx12 games? Pretty impressive if this trend continues through dx12 games http://wccftech.com/amd-rx-vega-64-outperforms-nvidia-gtx-1080-ti-23-dx12-forza-7/ (not sure how legit it is but nevertheless)
  6. Benefits of WC are worth it... ive WC all of my systems, why stop now lol. Its addicting , that and Ill be reusing a lot of my WC parts as well, still have rads, res, fans, fittings etc left over.
  7. Another part to the story is the custom WC options, more than likely going with EK as i have in the past. unfortunately the only blocks they have are for the much more expensive 1080ti variants. Still cant get over the 1080ti strix being $800... + a 100-120 block ... ugh.. I such a tough decision.. tbh lol. My last monitor was the asus mg279 2560/1440p ips 144hz for $450.. shouldnt have sold that gem.
  8. I think that monitor is more of a pipe dream than anything. I might just get a TN for gaming and have a 2nd IPS for editing. mostly just wanted to kill two birds with one stone. With Black friday/cyber monday in a couple of months I hope to catch some deals so we'll see. Leaning more towards the 1080ti BUT again, I think im going to be a lil upset if Volta is better or even just as good as the ti for less.
  9. Yeah, I keep telling myself "hold out for _______" Held out for vega, now with volta possibly next year makes me want to wait on a 1080/1080ti as well idk.
  10. Im refraining for hopping on the 4k bandwagon just yet, until the monitor i want is out... 144hz, 4k, ips... 34in curved.. a man can dream . I keep getting mixed feelings on multi GPU. Ive seen some people get dual 1080s just for the price , bought second hand. But this system should last me 3-5 years.. i hope.
  11. Yeah that 1080 is a refurb, just as a price point comparison, I more than likely wouldnt buy that one. the TR 1900, mostly for the 64 pcie lanes more than anything else and not wanting, rather, not ready to spend $1k on the 1950x that I want. The rig is going to be dual purpose , gaming and video/picture editing replacing my last x99 build. Hopefully tthis helps. I will also actually make use of the PCIE lanes with other expansion ports for media capture cards/pcie ssds etc. Possibly going multi gpu as well.
  12. Starting yet a new build for myself here shortly. I have spec'd out everything Id like to have for a HEDT build to last for quite some time, with room to grow if the need ever arises. However, I'm really at a loss on GPUs , thanks AMD... I was , like many, planning on running a vega card but between not being able to find any and the cards overall performance, I'm going to go with nvidia. My question now is: Is a 1080ti worth the $200-300+ Price hike over a 1080? My prices are based off the cheapest 1080 and 1080ti I could find on newegg. Any thoughts or suggestions appreciated. Additionally, will we ever see a price drop on 1080ti's? $700+ for a single gpu is just a bit much imo ... let alone the AIB 1080ti's that are closer to $800 (Strix for instance) Link to current build : https://pcpartpicker.com/list/ZXzPZ8 Asus prime mobo is a placeholder, going with the strix , website doesnt have the strix for some reason .. Thanks.
  13. Whatever you do, Dont get the MSI Krait Edition, sure it has a pretty sick color scheme (white/black) But my god it has so many issues, im on my 2nd one due to RMA and I regret not sticking with Asus for motherboards. MSI makes great boards otherwise, Gaming 5/7 Mpower Xpower etc are all good but yeah. Just my 2 cent. imo ASUS>Msi>Gigabyte/evga/asrock .
  14. Agreed, its a HUGE change of pace to what we have now with BF4 and hardline (if anyone plays that on pc) Limited weapons, Similar terrain for all maps. Not sure how I feel about it. As you said, might be shallow.
