  1. Wait, i just realized. By MCM do you mean Mighty Car Mods? The one where they paint the intercooler? If yes, then i have seen it
  2. I haven't seen that one. The one i'm thinking of is a guy called "Richie" on the Overclock3D forums. http://forum.overclock3d.net/showthread.php?t=46321 It's a little down the page in this thread.
  3. I saw somebody who made a very in depth "experiment" with painting of heatsinks. He didn't use Plasti Dip, but surprisingly, the paint helped dissipate the heat and the temperatures actually dropped.
  4. Exactly. That is why i can't see why i would be such a big problem, if i am only going to be painting the accents.
  5. Okay. I think i'm going to paint the heatsinks before installing the CPU, and i'm going to use the H100 so changing the thermal paste on there, isn't going to be a problem.
  6. How about the thermal pads? And are there any thermal paste you have to replace?
  7. Hello LTT So I just ordered the MSI Z97 MPower MAX AC, and although i love the yellow, my build is going to be Black and White. Im fairly new in all this modding, and disassembeling hardware, so i don't know what surprises im going to encounter in the process. For example, are there any replacement of the old thermal pads and thermal paste involved? Or can i just use the ones that come off the board, when im finished? Also, will the heat be a problem? I've read that the paint will insulate and trap the heat, and obviously that's a bad thing. But in other posts, people dont have a problem at all? The heatsinks on the Z97 MPower, aren't completely yellow, and keep in mind; I's only the small yellow strips and places, and of course, the big M. I hope you guys have some tips and tricks, on how to do this, so i (hopefully) don's mess everything up. Sorry for any spelling mistakes, i'm from Denmark so English is not my mother tongue. - Praksis
  8. Are you sure? I've seen some people painting their heatsink with Plasti Dip, and none of them have any heat problems.
  9. I just ordered the Z97 version of this board, or specifically the MSI Z97 MPower MAX AC. (Yes.. The one with the stupid water cooling thingies...) I really like the yellow, but since my Corsair AF Series fans dont have any yellow rings, i decided to paint the heatsinks White. Yes, i could just paint the rings yellow, but when i have to do it, i would rather stare into the black and white scheme. So, my question: When i take the heatsinks off the board, do i then have to get some new thermal pads, or thermal paste? Is it reusable? And if im just going to be using regular White Plasti Dip, how many layers do you think is enough? And how long should each layer dry? As closure: do you have any other tips and tricks, when i'm going to paint it? I have never done this before, let alone disassembled any computer components, so any advice is much appreciated. Sorry for any spelling mistakes, my mother tongue is Danish, sooooo there probably will be a mistake, here and there. - Praksis
