  1. On November 8th I lost my home to the Camp Fire, which destroyed the majority of structures in Paradise, CA. Everything I owned except what I had on me at the time was lost. I spent the next two weeks in a mass shelter looking for somewhere to live. I was able to find a hotel, however with roughly 27,000 people dislocated the closest hotel I could find was 150 miles from Paradise. So here I am, far from home, technically homeless, jobless, TOWNLESS! I have a lot to do to get my life going again and I need a computer asap. With all of that being said.. I need a laptop that is more reliable and easier to use than the old iPhone I’m currently using for everything, but that’s not saying much. Most important things are reliability and performance. I will be filling out plenty of paperwork, uploading/downloading files and images, and viewing larger PDFs and spreadsheets that tend to crash my phone. I would also like to have the option of playing games when things settle down. Mostly less graphically intense games like Don’t Starve and Oxygen Not Included. I ask for recommendations here because I simply do not have the time to properly research on my own. Thanks in advance. I have included a photo of my house for those interested.
  2. Based on other reviews and comparisons of the Modmic I'd say this is not an accurate representation of it's quality, even with the fixed audio version. I'd like to see this revisited, maybe with soundcloud audio clips of several mics like older LTT reviews. If however this is representative of the Modmic it's a hard pass from me. I wouldn't buy a mic that sounds like that for $20, let alone $70!
  3. I've been putting off buying a new phone because nothing quite grabs my attention. This phone is the exception. There's something so nice about the design, and the front facing speakers are a must for movies on the go.
  4. I'm rocking a Dell membrane keyboard and laser mouse that came with my first computer.
  5. I'm using a refurbed GTX 660 that I got from EVGA when I RMA'd my 480 that was damaged by a bad driver update that pumped way too much voltage through it. EVGA has great customer support, I'm kind of a fan boy now.
  6. I'm quite impressed by how close this thing can be to the wall. Blew me away when I saw it.
  7. I'm using a membrane keyboard that came with my mom's Dell she bought in 2000. The computer has since died, but the keyboard lives on (barely). The larger keys are wobbly and hard to press. Worst of all it only has 2-key and sometimes 3-key rollover, depending on what keys are pressed.
  8. This is a bit uninspired, but I would recommend an iPhone for non-techies. Everything you need is there and just works. When my mom needs a calendar, a map, email access, whatever it's there. And with iPhone's proliferation any problem that does arise is easily addressed with a Google search. Older models are cheap or even free with contract in the US and work great for non-power users.
  9. Tiny computers like this seem cool for more casual gaming, like hanging out in the living room with friends. I like that it's easy to hide away, just strap it to the back of your tv and you're good.
  10. These are beautiful. How have I not heard of Feenix? The headset is my favorite.
  11. I have a wireless mouse whose battery is located uncomfortably far back causing it to drag ass whenever I try to reposition it. Seems like a minor thing but it really throws me off. Linus said the FinalMouse has "an extremely light shell" which sounds fantastic.
  12. I prefer 10 keyless for gaming. I tend to smack my mouse into a full size keyboard.
  13. Love the GTX 900 series, the performance to power consumption is impressive and they look so good. These ZOTAC cards look even better, I can't decide which I like best.
