large leaks you see rigth when you get the hole system water up (deppends where the leak is). Tiny leaks, i would say any component can handel (you dry/clean them before use offcorse) as they arent power up on leak/bleed test. Set with kitchen paper under any fittings you have so you see leak clearly when you wake up. and ofcorse your PSU isnt in the case when you do the leak/bleed test so any water cant go in it...

Passive heatsinks (specially GPU ones) need decent air flow so (so you must have case fans allover) with those in maind. Im sorry but, your system are not going to be silent at all. If you dont do anything that needs GPU to run on idel/web use. Then what is keeping your GPU fans up and running???

Ahh, so thats why my rebuilded Second PC isnt helping so much on Folding. It runs HD 7970 and so far, points and speed are the problem But then again it OS(distro what ever) is "Ubuntu" (for super easy install and Steam) and after Nokia sell im trying to, not to get any more M$ to my home, if i can help it

Hmm great point. I havent used any kind of AIO water coolers so dont have a clue what they sound like. But if its made anything like this Corsairs upcomeing ones... I think you can use same things that you slow your rad or case fans down... For the fan not stoping. i would RMA it if CPU-z shows no use of GPU and it still runs.

PLZ, dont do that! If you dont have, water or active air cooling for those other parts of that graphic card allso. Depends on watercooling and how its made. But for the point. Say that to the people who F@H 24/7

Yep, it has thats why i bleed test and i count bleed tests leaks in too. Mostly EK-angle fittings dont last too many reuse on different PC's. Allso one Alphacool reservor cracked, most likely craced from heat.

If and when you reinstall GPU Drives allways do "clean install" (via custrom install) and member to pause/...quit folding firsth! Edit: current Fah core 0x17 gets my 980 up to 85% use so not sure is it just drivers or what. I mean they already have some driver issues on 9xx series for 0x18 allso... I currently have 347.52 drivers installed.

with my HD7970 i need a round 300watts from my wall for core17x(if i member correct). Now with 980 i need ~220watss to run this and a round 250watts with core 15..

So we dont need to look for how much that system would take power from wall and inglude it to counting...? Example: My current system(under nick just click it) with i5 4670K, GTX980 SC acx takes 220w from wall on full foulding. Before GTX980 i had HD7970 and the system take like over 300w. (..i may take more correckt reading of HD7970, before i take GTX980 under water..) EDIT: Heh, Only one card under 500$ on your list... EDIT2; So is it GTX970 vs. R280?? Edit 3: Oops Speak too soon. GTX980 seam to take 260w on wall meter when foulding 0x15(like now).. on gpu-z its close to 99% of powerconsum with it and 0x17 / 0x18 takes like70% so maybe driver thing ore something with these new cards or something..

To me OC is only stable if it dosent lose anything that normal clocks can do. .. if game works but folding fails(or anything else in computer world) = OC failed and so it isnt stable OC! and Points are points "if you get them after all" (no failed WU on log after end).

Hard to say anything as we dont know your local prices... So plz, tell us models that are in you price range with current price, after model name. that would help a lot.

I just updated to new nVidia driver 347.09 (WHQL) And just after installing that and restarting my sytem, i was wellcomed with new 0x18 project (atleast to me) 9112. I hope i this dosent mean that everytime i restart my system i have to start over GPU projects and i just was lucky to finish one rigth at the time of locking out. Anyways with this project it runs about 5k faster then other 0x18 ones, that i have seen

man! as core18 is only for Windows with nVidia, i would think theyalready know about it by now and are doing something for it or it is what it is... not good for us.

Mine for Folding is from Whaler_99 (if i member correctly) from time when you get them little lover results For Office Builder (that i may join too will see) there is note on shop how much time it should take(last time i look it waas every monday they add them). For folding badges plz look Folding FAQ Core 18 yeah what i have seen and have for 900 series its demanding for the time it takes. Lets hope nVidias next driver fix this too... But anyways we arent here for points, right. Edit: i would say Office badges arent on Whaler_99 taple and more on people at head of Linus team that takes the money in, but i may be wrong. Atleast they have lot to do (holidays, news, videos, mooving stuff,...), so give it a time.

Yeah, FahCores 0x18 seems to run slower on my system(GTX 980) too. .. http://linustechtips.com/main/topic/216822-new-core-18-wus/ (i posted my results on that thread first) I have seen around 10 of them now with my eyes more on logs all kind of project numbers too. Webcontroller seems to have most info of that core and its new projects. allso i run with 344.75 driver and im hopeing new one would help us but will see.

is that 7970 berforming as good as that old one on other progs?

With full load, i menth "Full load of FaH client". But, i have it allways pluged in on wall meter, so if you have other prog in maind to use for this then tell me and i show you the results B) It has bean while when i looked my CPU, but what i member is that it didnt like to overclock much even if it is "K" Heres a picture of this power draw. Sorry for the mess Messy pic. so.... that lighted up white/gray thing under my monitor is that wall meter i talked about and CPU-Z tells that my CPU is runing @4,2GHz on 1,192v

Well, i have Corsair's AX1200 next to me, with no job from dual HD5970 days. But then again, i like more of silent room as i also sleep here with my PC runing. At the moment my system takes 220W from wall with full load so yeah added 7970 would bring it next to top with low fan case and so on not so good for future (as Fanless PSU). But sorry for the OT all!!! and Thx for the info, Tobben! ...we will see what happends...

Hmm, any added problems with that kind of setup? ..with games and so on? I mean my HD7970 was power hungry, but i could add it to my main gameing/floding system(on profile), without big hiccups?
