that person was talking about GPUs, not CPUs, and they are absolutely correct. no one who actually has the option of using nvidia ever chooses to use an AMD GPU. at least i haven't seen it. every reviewer/influencer always makes a video where they put away their nvidia GPU and force themselves to use an AMD GPU for clicks then move back to nvidia almost immediately after

seems that way, and it shouldn't be this difficult. i have an Intel X550-T2 at the office, but i don't want to go there right now (covid, riots, looters, trigger happy cops, etc). so i'll have to live with it for now. 
 
gigabyte gives you an intel T550 build right into the board at this same price. but i hate gigabyte's BIOS. guess i'm stuck between a rock and a hard place.... 

found the firmware update on marvell's website. went from 3.1.98 to 3.2.100. nothing changed. 
 
EDIT: decided to intall the driver from marvell's website. now it's working. what the actual f.... driver's from asus and aquantia website didn't work, but the one on marvell's website did. well this is stupid.

i tried asking asus people via support email and via facebook, and i can't get a clear answer on what the difference between the two is. as far as i can tell from checking the published info, the "alpha" version has 90A phases vs 70A phases on the non-alpha. but i can't imagine that this is the only difference between the two since the 90A phases are a placebo. pumping THAT much power into the CPU would be absolutely uncoolable. 
 
any ideas?

hello. i just picked up some 16TB exos drives, and they were $100+ cheaper EACH than the ironwolfs and ironwolfs pro on amazon. the overall difference was over $1000 for 8 drives. 
 
was there some sort of a price shift? if what you say is true and the exos are the higher tier drive, the price doesn't make any sense. 

what the hell are you picking that x570 board? you don't need it. get something more reasonable. 

i tried ordering online. it needs a canadian address just to get to the check out. i was going to ask someone in canada to grab one for me, but later that day i got a shipment date from amazon.es (spain). my ETA is sep 9. my relatives won't get it to me sooner anyway. 
 
also, amazon spain only charged me 1094 euros (1204 USD), and that's with shipping and import taxes already rolled in. seems to be an error in my favor.
