  1. WD must have surveyed a bunch of morons, if their statement is true about asking "tech savvy" people their preferred configuration when it comes to mech+nand combo drives. I would have liked a Seagate approach but with a larger than 8gb flash.
  2. Your title says one thing and your post says something else. Are you trying to update the cpu on your existing motherboard? If so, you have to find it out what CPU your motherboard can support. You may have to update the bios so that the board can see later model CPUs.
  3. If it has diagnostic lights in the front, you can try this: http://phubner.eng.ua.edu/Files/Optiplex%20745/trouble.htm I know I had to replace the motherboard on somebody's Dell SFF(can't remember the model) because of capacitor issues. Had to buy the board on the Ebay and swap everything out.
  4. Is this a tv or a pc monitor? for a 1:1 pixel mapping, it should be set to 0% otherwise your picture quality might not look the best. If it's a tv, then look for "HDMI zoom" or "HDMI overscan" in your tv settings and switch it off. Then you can slide the scaling to 0, assuming that the TV has a native res of 1920x1080.
  5. There's a scaling option somewhere within the catalyst control center. It's a slider... put the market at 0%.
  6. what the hell is Autoruns? I've been using Windows for a long time and I've never heard of it.
  7. http://techreport.com/discussion/25690/wd-black-notebook-drive-combines-120gb-ssd-with-1tb-hdd#metal Where are the 32gb nand flash hybrid drives ? You can't use the space on the mechanical drive until windows is up and running...so I'm guessing that you have to install proprietary drivers to gain access to the mechanical storage. wtf?
  8. do they have wifi you can connect to? if so, this asus thing should be fine but you have to make sure it supports wpa2 or whatever security they are using for their wifi. Also , why do you need to connect your modem to the asus bridge ? the network chain already has a modem.
  9. how about companies start making their products more power efficient from the beginning?
  10. I'm looking for a 120 or 250 gig ssd drive by Samsung or any other top tier manufacturer. can anybody point me in the right direction?
  11. and how do you know it will mess up the install? i'm assuming you're getting a message that tells you this information. What is the exact wording of this message?
  12. spend the money on upgrading the powersupply instead. and then follow my advice in my previous post.
  13. looks like a decent enough pc minus the gpu and powersupply. if you replace both of these, you should have a good gaming desktop. it's a core i5, right? just get a radeon 270x or something and get a better powersupply like the Corsair builder series 500watt.
  14. what's the exact error mesage when you try to initialize the drive?
  15. google search will give you an extensive list, but a popular one is Dosbox. Another option is VirtualMachine. Just out of curiosity, what software does he use on the 386?
  16. not sure. probably a chrome update broke compatibilty? try one of ther Canary builds... or some other latest beta builds .
  17. link fixed. your problem seems to be with chrome and killer nic conflict.

  19. would i spend 300 bucks on headphones by established brands who have been in the business for decades ... or do i spend it on a company who caters to "gamers"... let me ponder for a bit.
  20. wtf ..386? don't they have dos emulators for newer pcs if you REALLY need some old software?
  21. where are the Google ass kissers? "android's so much better because it's open... omg!"
