In case anyone wants to touch their M50s up:
You can just unscrew the plastic clamps at the end of the headphones,
remove the pleather around the headband and wrap some cloth leather etc.
around it from there for a clean look. I used some rubberized black textile band.

If you want more stable 100 fps you can just grab an i7 4790k off ebay,
5 minutes work and maybe 80$ cost if you sell your i5.
There are next to no games where a 8700k will be needed to get to 100 fps if your gpu is
up to snuff for your resolution.

Prime small fft is basicly just turning your pc into a toaster,
try aida64 for stability, youll even get a warning if stability issues are detected.

With that budget you wont really be able to afford a new high end rig,
so it would be better to upgrade.
Get him a i7 for his mobo + a 90mm or 120mm fan tower cooler (might get hot with a stock heatsink),
a gtx 1050-1060 and a 256-512gb ssd for the OS and for video editing.

Rolling Potatoe got a reaction from Eduard the weeb in Upgrading confusion. PLEASE HELP
Nope, only ddr4. Skylake introduced DDR4 to the mainstream 2 years ago and there were only a few mobos that accepted ddr3l. Used ddr3 prices have also gone up though, so it might not be too bad. Look for auctions on DDR4 to save some money, they often go for less. I managed to buy 16gb corsair LED DDR4 for 85 euros because the auction was timed badly and sold my boring 16gb hyperx kit for 130 euros with ''buy it now'' recently .

I wouldnt buy the 3000 rpm noctua ppc fans, you can only downregulate them to 50% or so before the stop working, and at
1500 rpm theyll still be quite audible.
Also why 2 expensive gaming monitors? I dont think you are planning to game on them at the same time.

I went ahead and installed some quick disconnects,
seems like the flow rate wasnt affected at all....very nice.
The QD3 disconnects feel very solid and are easy to connect and disconnect
with almost no spillage, the downsides are the size and the price of course.

Rolling Potatoe got a reaction from JS Life in Can i run this?
Peak power usage would be around 400w with that setup after overclocking,
the 450w psu would probably work but you should get something higher wattage
and higher quality psu. Considering your GPU costs 800$ you could spend a bit more to get a
650w gold rated psu like an rm650i.

That is a bit overkill if you dont want to go sli or never want to hear the fan spin up.

This should do well for ~ 100$ less https://www.amazon.com/Corsair-RM650x-Modular-Supply-Certified/dp/B015YEIBJ8/ref=sr_1_6?s=electronics&ie=UTF8&qid=1511717485&sr=1-6&keywords=650w+psu

If it is still clear with no stuff floating around and no bad smell it is probably perfectly alright.
The Ek ethylen glycol stuff is pretty resilient if concentrated enough, rated for 2 years but it can
    probably hold on longer.

At that size 4k would mostly just give you scaling issues unless you play with your nose stuck to your screen, so id say the 1440p one.
You could also consider some of the ultrawide 3440x1440 high refresh rate monitors.

    You can use terminals

The metal parts goes in from both sides and is then connected over the metal innards and screwed down.
The terminals are connected with plastic, you can just cut off however many you need.
Make sure the end of your fan cable is as solid as possible though, maybe strip it down a bit and make a knot or something
    before you put them in.

It might be a problem with the GPU itself not being able to support 4K@60Hz but that seems a little unlikely...

Rolling Potatoe got a reaction from ArduinoBen in FPS drops after few minutes
Is that a 1gb gtx 750? You might be running out of vram, even in 768p.
Other then that try monitoring your cpu and gpu clocks, usage and temps while you are gaming
when the fps drop happens, might be the different load causes something to throttle
    the cpu.

Rolling Potatoe got a reaction from UsualEverydayGuy in Is now a good or bad time for buying a new graphics card?
2 Months? I dont think so, new GPUs are still ~ half a year away.
Only upgrade if you need more GPU power though.
A 1080 is up to twice as fast as your 390, but its not like you couldnt just lower
a few settings and have the same performance with very similar visuals.
I dont know what resolution/refresh rate you use though, for anything higher than 1440p 60 fps
you could probably use some extra performance. Because of mining 390s still have good value,
so maybe it is the time for upgrading?

Rolling Potatoe got a reaction from shotsfired in Vega 64 watercooled VS 1080ti watercooled, benchmark request!
Vega 64 performs clock for clock the same as vega 56 in games https://www.gamersnexus.net/guides/3053-vega-64-vs-vega-56-clock-for-clock-shader-differences , performance wise you are buying an overclocked vega 56 for 500$. Vega 64 will probably never come close to a 1080 ti in games,
but you will draw a lot of power if you try. If you have a freesync monitor and really dont care about the power draw it might make sense for 500$,
but at around the same pricepoint a 1070 ti makes a lot more sense otherwise (overclocks nicely it seems). If course if you really want all the performance you can get go for a 1080 ti.

Rolling Potatoe got a reaction from Yoo Song Won in Where is the resolution in a projector?
How the colours/pixels are generated depends on the projector type, but except for laser projectors they all use
bright white light from a lamp that is then filtered to get red green and blue subpixels on the screen. So yeah, youll only renew the brightness.

You can just add 1440p to your resolutions in your gpu control panel, this way itll show up in pretty much any game.
