  1. Thanks, but I forgot to add, this code is now allowed to use any OO principles, so no linQ or anything - which is stupid as to why I am not allowed to use the benefit of c#...
  2. Hey everyone, I've made some code to generate an array full of random numbers (between 2 points), to create a "Set" of data to be analyzed. This works fine - I've got my random set, but for it to be counted as a valid set, it has to have no duplicate numbers. Sure, I can make the RNG to a really high number and hope I don't get a duplicate, but that is beside the point. (In fact, I tried that and still got 3 repeated numbers...) How would I make my RNG generate a random set of numbers without duplicates? Here's the code for my RNG if this is of any help: int length = 9; Random r = new Random(); int yes; int[] setS = new int[9]; for (int i = 0; i < length; i++) { setS[i] = r.Next(1, 19); Console.WriteLine(setS[i]); } I've had a look at multiple sites, such as StackOverflow and I don't fully understand the methods people are showing on how to solve this problem. Thanks for any help given.
  3. Hey Everyone - Heres a probably really stupid question for you today: I just bought a used Macbook Pro (15" Core i7 2011) for dev work on my iPad and to test unity games on my iPad. The only downside is it comes with 4GB RAM. I know that the ram is standard DDR3 SODIMM, but you can get "Certified to work with Macbook" RAM. I'm curious - does it have to be certified to work in a Macbook or can I just buy any kit of SODIMM DDR3 (as long as it matches the required specification.) Thanks.
  4. Fair enough. The service says it's not available just yet in my region. I was just curious as to why Geo-blocking is still a thing. I had a look back and Linus did a thing similar to this on TechQuickie. I suppose I should have just had a better look. - anyway, thanks for your help on the matter.
  5. So - assuming I could create an account, that would be classed as legal? (I can create an account looking at the service through a VPN - I said Netflix as an example, I'm looking at a different VOD service.) IF I created an account, would they be able to find out that I'm not from that location - i.e. via a billing address (for example, I'm from the UK and want to access a US service), and if I were to be found out, would that have legal ramifications on myself and/or the company?
  6. Here's a quick question for you - although I have a slight suspicion I already know the answer: Is it illegal to access Geo-blocked content/services - even if you are willing to pay for the service? A lot of people would assume - let say Netflix for example, restricts content based on location. I know I can use a VPN to get around this. But that is not the only problem when using a paid service. If I am willing to pay full price for the service - even though it is not available in my country, is it classed as legal or illegal to do such a thing? I'm assuming its illegal but would like some information/input as to why. Thanks for reading.
  7. I suggest having a look at this post on TorrentFreak. It talks about all the best VPN providers (2016 as 2017 is not finished yet :P) https://torrentfreak.com/vpn-anonymous-review-160220/ As for "VPN Unlimited" I found this quick review. I personally wouldn't trust them as they are based in the US and has a worrying Privacy policy. Check this article out: https://www.cloudwards.net/vpn-unlimited-review/ EDIT: Apparently VPN Unlimited store logs on your activity (max of 7 days) Source: The TorrentFreak post
  8. I've never heard of that one, so I can't vouch for it. If you're looking for a good VPN, look at the following: TunnelBear: Only used the free version, so don't know what they are like 24/7 CyberGhost: Currently using since I got a cheap deal when I bought the license PIA (Private Internet Access): Have used in the past, extremely secure As for the 3 years over the lifetime, that's a smart idea. Just be careful as a lot of bogus VPN services have appeared to take advantage of the changing FCC laws.
  9. I appreciate that. You were honest and gave me an answer. You at least have told me about people who I should talk to, and that is of some help. Before, I didn't even know that. Thanks.
  10. Hey everyone. I want to ask a few questions about something that I have to get sorted for university pretty soon, and would like input/opinions. I'm currently studying as a Computing and Games Development student (1st year). In-between my 2nd and final year, I have to do a 1-year placement that is relevant for my course - in my case, games development. I've been told that I don't have to think too much into it until my second year, but I still have some questions, which if possible would like your input on. After looking at the sheet provided to me by my university, there are only around 10 companies in the UK that have offered placement in the past to students at the university and course I attend. As such I've been thinking about widening my search and was curious of the following: Would it be possible to do placements outside of the UK? if so, how would I go about that? Would I have to contact companies directly or go through my university? (I say this as nearly everything they provide is UK based) Would I have to get a student visa (if needed)? Finance and living, how would I arrange something like that when I'm from a different country? If so, what companies/places would you say would be the best to ask/look for placements? Basically, I have a lot of questions on my mind, and I don't really know where to start - so any help would be really appreciated. Thanks for reading.
  11. That DVI Port doesn't support analogue signals, and as such, doesn't support VGA. For DVI to support VGA (analogue), it needs to look like this: You can see the extra pins on top of the slot connector. For your GPU, your DVI doesn't support that. Either that or look for a DVI-D to VGA adapter something like this connector:
  12. I would say so. I personally would say you can't go wrong with either. But its your choice at the end of the day.
  13. These are the options I have on my CPU to give me a stable 24/7 overclock on my i5 4690K on the ASRock Z97 Extreme 4. Bare in mind, there may be features that are unavailable on your board or vice versa. So take these as a guideline only, for example: I do not know how good the voltage delivery is on the Z97 Aniversary, so depending on that, adjust your voltage to what is needed/safe.
  14. Since your motherboard, the z97 Aniversary is similar to my Extreme4 - as in same generation and same manufacturer, if you give me a few minutes, I'll have a look in my bios and see what I've got done and see if that will be of any help to you.
  15. If you just want it to boost to the new overclock when doing work, then do what @DildorTheDecentsaid. If you want it to stay at that speed 24/7, even when at idle, going into the bios and turn off any power saving features, such as intel Speedstep, and if there is a specific option for a static clock speed, see if it is enabled (some boards won't have this option.)
  16. AH-IPS is the same technology as IPS, its benefits over regular IPS are: Improved colour accuracy, increased resolution and PPI Greater light transmission for lower power consumption. source: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/IPS_panel 1: I did not go to TFT Central, I just went straight to the manufacturers website. 2: As for being the same, if you look at the Eizo panel (http://www.eizo.com/products/flexscan/ev2455/), it just claims IPS. I was speculating since they are the exact same aspect ratio, exact same refresh rate, exact same size, with the exact same brightness...I could keep going on for every option, the only difference I can see is the typical GtG response time is 5ms on the Eizo, where as it is 6ms on the NEC (but that can be down to slight manufacturing tolerances or measuring flaws) - So I'm saying its safe to assume they are probably using the same panel.
  17. More warranty is better in-case anything happens, but you are paying extra for it - not as an additional price but on the RRP. As for power management, thats just screen time out and such. So there's no real difference. Go with what ever one you think is better for your needs - can't rally go wrong with either one. Both from reputable companies.
  18. A C2D Macbook is quite old now. And with Apple dropping support for older products, if its still getting updates, it might get dropped pretty soon. Depending on your budget, you can get a newer MBP with an i5 for a little more, around £400 used ~ $450. Would last a lot longer and perform better as well. It would also help with video editing.
  19. @HipBoth panels are the same, one is using IPS and the other is using AH-IPS. Both have the same refresh rate and backlight - my guess, if you buy the both of them and rip them apart, they are both using the same panel. Now I've said that, dont actually do it XD. Since they look identical feature wise, go for which one you want, NEC may be cheaper, but does it have the same ergonomics you are after?
  20. Not that there should be any surprise since its been announced, but Ryzen is officially on PCPartPicker: http://uk.pcpartpicker.com/product/7qyxFT/amd-ryzen-7-1800x-36ghz-8-core-processor-yd180xbcaewof
  21. I'm really interested in that the $259 6/12 R5 1600X. Since all prices I've seen so far are in USD, I'm assuming when converted over to GBP, there is no VAT included (For us UK people). So converted over 1:1, that makes it £207.92 (as of 15/02/2017), add the 20% VAT, that brings it to £249.50. A little bit more than a 4/4 i5 6600K on Amazon. A 6 core/12 threaded CPU at the price of an i5 - now does that mean AMD is really undercutting Intel, or does it mean the architecture is not as up to snuff as people hope and needs the extra cores as a grunt to compete with Intel's few core chips? (I'm not saying its like that, its just a case of devils advocate...) On the other hand, that 1700X is also interesting. 8/16 for $389. Doing the same conversion and assumptions, that puts it undercutting the i7 7700K (when not on sale, at a full retail price of £415 on Amazon) with a price of £375 and even in spitting distance of Intel's i7 6800K. Of course, these numbers I've come up with could totally be wrong, but either way, depending on the price/performance, Ryzen is starting to look really interesting.
  22. While the pricing is very eye-catching, we don't have any solid numbers on the performance. I'm hoping its going to be competitive, but holding out on the hype until reliable benchmarks are out. If its as good as what people say - then great, but it could all go down hill for the lower end chips as the only one we've seen in action is the top of the line one. That being said, I'm not ruling Ryzen out of my next computer upgrade.
  23. Hey everyone. Quick question for you all: Since I'm planning on getting a new system, I would have to sell my current one. How much do you think I could get for it? There is some stuff missing from the list below, such as storage (for obvious reasons) and a CPU Cooler - I plan on reusing my current one, and my GTX 1070 - as I need it What I was considering, rather than selling an incomplete system, I was going to buy a new SSD, HDD and Cooler, (maybe find an old GPU to throw in) and then sell it on. Parts that I'm Selling: Intel Core i5 4690K - Stable OC at 4.8GHz 16 GB Kingston Fury 1866Mhz - Stable OC at 2133MHz ASRock Z97 Extreme 4 Motherboard Phanteks Enthoo Pro - Windowed, Black Edition Corsair HX 750W Power Supply (80+ Gold) Parts I would have to get to complete the system to be sold: be quiet! Dark Rock Advanced CPU Cooler PNY CS1311 120GB SSD Seagate BarraCuda 1TB HDD Thanks for reading and possible help on the matter. (sorry if posted in the wrong section or if its against Guidelines.)
  24. Out of curiosity, is it possible to have a link to the photo at 2:05 in the video of the red sky. That shot looks amazing. I wish I could get shots like that, but alas, my photography skills aren't the best and I always miss shots like that as I don't always carry my camera with me due to size - I can't just put it in my uni bag as it takes up too much space. I have been thinking of ditching my DSLR to go mirrorless as this allows me to "pocket" or "bag" the camera easier when out and about. Awesome video Brandon - love to see more camera/gear reviews in future.
  25. I might give that a try with my 1070. Although if your i7 4790K is getting maxed out, I doubt my i5 4690K will be any good.
