abusedduck got a reaction from geogga in Ducky Shine 3 (YOTS) vs WASD V2?
YotS is here! And an amazing keyboard to type on, at that. Typical Ducky quality all housed in a fantastic aluminum chassis.
Go with the Ducky.

To answer your questions in short:
Yes/no. The keyswitches are the same; so in theory, the typing experience should be the same. But the stabilizers on the longer keys (shift, space, etc), may differ.
Exact keyboard layouts differ from brand to brand. Things like key spacing, height, indention, etc., can all be different.
Nope.
ABS plastic is the "cheaper" feeling plastic. PBT keycaps definitely feel more premium.
I don't have experience with WASD keyboards, so I can't comment; I've just felt they were a more "modders" keyboard.
Edit: My Ducky YotS w/ MX blues will be here tomorrow. I'll report back here with my findings.

I currently use the Ducky DK9087G2 Pro w/ MX Browns and love it. They have a wide range to choose from: with PBT or ABS key caps, with or without lighting effects (if you go for the Shine), etc.
I've also heard good things about the Vortex Poker 2, and the CM Storm Quickfire Rapid.

btw guys, Thank you sooo much for your suggestions and info. When I got on to check if I got any responses, I was totally blown away by the amount of replies. I'm new to the forum, and it's soo awesome to see good, knowledgable, active members.
When I post on Overclock.net, I'll get like 1 or 2 replies in a week, and no real help for what I'm asking about.
So, I think i found my new tech home!
Plus, i love linus's vids, watch em everyday just about. (great vids to watch on your lunch break)
=)

You know what, you are right, idk why i was thinking it had reds. It is just about perfect, except its a bit on the pricier side, and the led back lighting isn't very even (so I hear), nor is it very bright. But at least white can go with any case color scheme
WOW, that's pretty much perfect! I mean, it has the layout I like, multiple choices on switches and backlights, no dedicated media keys, or volume rollers, but still, looks like a great keyboard. Thank you soo much for suggesting this. I had never even heard of them

I know they don't get recommended as much around here, but I might look into Keycool keyboards. The 84 and 87 models sound like they would be near perfect for you.

abusedduck reacted to Paul9631 in Buying A UPS
I am running a 1300VA 780 watt APC UPS.
When picking a UPS, first carefully evaluate what you want it to do before you pick one. For example, do you only want to have 5 to 10 minutes of power during which you can quickly exit everything and shut it down, or do you need a continuous workflow during power outages that might last for an hour or more? Most people need something in-between those two extremes, but that's a decision that you need to make for yourself.
Next, be sure to evaluate EVERYTHING you will plug in to your UPS, and plan for expansion. Think carefully about this one, as you don't want to forget to factor in the power of your 80 watt multi-monitor setup or something. For a dedicated PC UPS, this shouldn't be too complicated, and it seems that you already handled this step.
After you have a ballpark idea of what to look for, start isolating particular features that you need. Because you are worried about frying your computer, you might want to narrow your search to UPS units that have AVR or Automatic Voltage Regulation technology. This means that if the input voltage is too low, or too high, or if the signal is just really dirty, the UPS will switch to backup power, even though it's still receiving current from the wall. Other things to look for are features like software packages that allow your UPS to communicate with your PC. If, for example, you leave your computer on all night, it might be worth it to make sure you have something like APC's "PowerChute" software that can safely shut down your computer for you if you aren't there when the power goes out.
Finally, I would recommend making sure to go with a quality brand over anything. A bad UPS can cause more harm than good, so make sure it's coming from a quality company. APC is typically considered the gold standard, but they are the only company I have dealt with, so I am not the best resource on this front. I have heard good things about other companies, but I don't want to give any recommendations, because, as I said, I don't have any experience with anyone but APC.
Good luck! A quality UPS can last for years, so don't skimp out to save a few bucks now. Over-spec a little bit, and you'll be better off down the road. Plus, if you only put a few hundred watts on a UPS that is designed for much more, that just means that you can run even longer on the battery!
I would look at something like the "Back-UPS Pro 1000" ($130 on Amazon) from APC, but it all depends on what you need.

Again, good luck!

.....
People who have not tried typing on a buckling spring KB simply do not know what they're missing. When I was trying out the KB, I find myself typing just for the heck of it......wrote some gibberish emails to a few friends simply because I was enjoying the KB. And it's great for gaming as well, played UT3 (used this game to test gaming responsiveness of all my KB's) and the Model M performed admirably.
BTW, I do have a pair of shoe nearby.............. ;) :D

The Razer 2013 Ultimate is pretty cheap when you consider the options that it has (full LED backlight, macro keys, etc). What did they like/not like about the Razer keyboard? Maybe we can narrow something down based on that info. :)

abusedduck reacted to RJF049 in Phobya WaCoolT Test Bench
Hey! I am fairly new here and new to tech forums :) excited! So I recently moved my rig from a Corsair c70 case to an open air test bench. No real big reason other then I love the look of open benches. This is my everything rig. I do all mah digital art and gaming and web browsing and photo editing on it.
Current specs:
ASUS Rampage IV Formula
i7 3930k running @ stock speeds
GTX 680
Kingston HyperX genesis tenth anniversary edition ram 16 GB @ 1866mhz because i cant get the speeds stable at any higher right now :(
ASUS xonar essence STX sound card
INTEL SSD 520 series 120GB
Seagate Barracuda 2 TB HHD
WD 250 GB HHD (Just because i have important files on it and have been too lazy to move them all to my seagate)
Corsair AX750 PSU
Phobya WaCoolT Test Bench
Cooling:
Swiftech Apogee HD cpu block
Alphacool Nexxos GTX 680 block
Alphacool Nexxos UT60 360 Radiator
XSPC 120 radiator
EK-RES X3 110 Reservoir
Swiftech MCP655 with the Bitspower mod kit
Bitspower 3/8 (ID) - 5/8 (OD) Black Sparkle compression fittings
Corsair SP 120's and AP 120's for all fans
Ducky blue switch keyboard
Razor Deathadder black edition
Dell U2711
Sennheiser PC360 headset
The first photo is the old z77 rig in the Corsair C70 case. The bench has all the same cooling components and blocks. I sleeved the tubing as well for the bench rig..worst time of my life but I would do it again because it looks the ballls. It's not a perfectly clean job on a couple of them but it was a tight fit with the cloth sleeving and the compressions barely fit over it. >.< Let me know whether you liked my old rig or the new one better :)

If it has a brushed aluminum finish to it like the pictures suggest, I think this might be a pretty sexy looking case. I kinda wanted to do a white 900D build, too!
