I'd still test it anyway. The fact that it's a good brand does not mean it can't be broken. - Just out of curiosity was it Crucial ram by chance? I've worked with a number of AMD systems that have had issues with Crucial ram.

I'd use it to bring my intel rig back to life (currently has an i7 920 in it with a dead motherboard that i cant find a replacement for)

Your motherboard should have OC-Genie, have you tried using that to see if that did anything?
