  1. Most games don't really care if you have a SATA SSD or an NVMe SSD. In fact, a 7200RPM HDD is totally fine for most games because they only load once per level / area. However, the games where you absolutely will notice a massive difference are heavily modded skyrim and fallout 4. I had to put these games on my NVMe RAID array because even on SATA SSD the load times get really aggravating when you have 100+ mods going (over a minute going outdoors / indoors sometimes). I bet these two games would benefit hugely from being installed on a PCIe4 drive.
  2. They also already did an intro video for this project over 8 weeks ago. No progress was made, and the Mac Pro is going to come out sometime in the next 1-3 months, so they had better get their butts in gear if they want to finish this before that happens.
  3. It's been over 8 weeks since you guys posted the first video on this project, and the only progress you've made is that you found a RAM kit for it? Kind of disappointing. Is this going to drag on and on for months like the 6 editors 1 cpu series?
  4. So this monitor looks like it will be about $500 from looking around. Not too bad for the specs honestly. I see no real reason to sell my Dell S2716DG though. I don't really understand the 1ms hype though. 60 to 144 Hz is definitely noticeable to anybody, but I have no idea if an average person could tell you if a monitor is 1ms vs 5ms other than professional CSGO players.
  5. I found it interesting that they use FAT32 instead of exFAT to format the SSD. Having all those 4GB files and needing to run a format when you want to delete stuff seems pretty clunky to me. RED could justify the high price they charge for these if they put two drives in RAID 1 in each mini mag, used exFAT formatting, and provided alerts both on the camera and on the computer when one of the drives fails, letting the user send it in to be replaced. In the super rare case of a double drive failure, they would provide data recovery services. The drives don't even need to be nvme if sata has adequate bandwidth for recording.
  6. I always thought ZOTAC was not as good as some other card manufacturers, but this really seems like a big win for them. The only thing I dislike is 3-slot coolers. I know they work well, but they take up too much space.
