  1. A lot of pure white setups really lack when it comes to peripheral choice. So at least people can match their DeathAdders & Nagas and whatnot if they want to pay that Razer tax.
  2. Popping the GT 420 in there to see if it'll be recognized will have to wait for tomorrow when I go back over there.
  3. I was using it about a week and a half ago, no notable issues.
  4. On the plan B route, will calling AMD actually lead to a solution? I'm okay with doing that tomorrow if I can't get it figured out tonight.
  5. Here's the SS of Device Manager. As you can see, no 7850. I'll have him make double-sure that it's looking for a PCI-E device first. PEG device? I'm not sure what that is.
  6. I don't believe they are, no. Like I said in the OP, I'm afraid that if he disables them and the 7850 still won't be recognized, he'll be left with nothing. Also, I'm not sure he's confident enough to reset the CMOS without me there, not completely computer-literate, little nervous.
  7. He says there's nothing else in that drop down menu. He's grabbing a SS of his device manager now. Says there's no 7850, but I told him to do it anyway. Seems to me like the 7850 doesn't exist in the PC's mind.
  8. It's an 850w thing from XFX, non-modular. I don't know the exact model number, not at his house.
  9. The big thing is that when I would, say, right-click the CCC tray menu icon, there was no detected 7850. When I'd go into Speccy, it didn't see the 7850. I'd go into the BIOS and set the MoBo to look to a PCI-E device for video instead of integrated or on-board or whatever it said, and it'sl ike the MoBo just passive-agressively ignored my request and went straight to the APU. Why, I wonder? The 7850 is installed, it's all the way in, it's powered, the fans are spinning. Why does this computer love the APU and hate the GPU?
  10. When I was over there earlier, and we'd restart the pc with the monitors plugged into the 7850, nothing would happen. No video. Zilch. 7850's fans were spinning, it was fully inserted, same with its power cable, a 6 pin, and we tried a 6+2 pin at one point, but it wouldn't output video. So we'd go back to the MoBo, and the APU would give us video. We installed CCC too, a default version, and then one hand-picked off AMD's site for the 7850, in-case it needed the CCC to be installed already for drivers or something; No dice.
