I'm bookmarking this one for my "how to repair" shortlist on Windows 10, under "Windows 10 won't let me go for a pee, how to fix?"

one of my school PC was having issues with inputs as a result of Windows bugging out. Sounds like a software issue with Windows or the USB controller drivers.

    I would say there's a program watching for a "p" input.
Start the PC in safe mode and see if p works.
If it does then he has a program running in the background watching key inputs. Loads of programs do this.
Xbox app, OBS, Steam, Afterburner, Skype..... Almost countless.

Golfball_Pro got a reaction from Lord Nicoll in PSU Future proofing?
I have to disagree with "The wattage won't go away over time". Over time, components inside a PSU tend to degrade, and a 750w psu today, might drop as low as 700w or even lower over a period of 5+ years (depending on the quality of parts used in manufacturing). Depending on your power usage, as a rule of thumb, I'd add an extra 10-15% over your power draw. So If your system uses 400w, you should get a psu that is at least 460w, if not 500w.

Most systems with a single gpu, minimal or no overclocking of cpu or gpu, and 2 or 3 hard drives, generally don't use more than 400w.

So unless you'll be putting in multiple gpus in there, you should be fine with anything in the 500-600w psu range. If you can find a PSU with 100% Japanese solid capacitors, that's a bonus.
Just my 2 cents, wish you luck

ALmost any ssd today will last over 5 years. Gaming isn't very heavy for a ssd at all.

Reset and power switches don't need to be oriented any particular direction, they just short the pins. You'll be fine.

For switches its shouldn't even matter and if their LEDs just guess and if your wrong turn it around.

Maybe Donald Trump could be "accidentally" misspelled as Donald Turnip ?

In all seriousness though, the voters should have more choice than just two candidates, more choice means a better chance of someone good being voted right? It's unfortunate that it always comes down to just 2 candidates, instead of more candidates having an equal chance of winning the election...
    Just my two cents...

Another thing to factor in is the price.

I don't roll the dice on storage, but if a used motherboard is gonna cost me so much less than a new one that if it fails i Can just run out and buy another used one (probably even cheaper by that point) having STILL spent less than a new one then I'm more likely to yolo it.

Though of course this applies only for personal purchases. For the business downtime has a real cost.

Couple of things... working in datacenters with 220V and bringing in PC's on occasion with no auto voltage regulator. They have the stupid red switch you have to flip. BAM! I have fried a few PSU's that way, and almost lost it in my pants in the process. :)
My other issue sometimes, being in a hurry during a build.... not making sure the CPU heatsink was properly placed, tighten it down and nothing... shutdown due to thermal overload... Doh... Oh ya, the block has to be ON the cpu... no just hovering above. :)

Actually in the process of saving for a new rig, Currently using a Asus G751 with a Gtx 965m. Working hard to save for a more powerful rig for my second at uni. As you can probably imaging the laptop isn't the best for architectural rendering and sampling. It would go a long way in helping, thanks.

So AMD's new graphics cards are here, and they are pretty sick... But what's even more sick than hearing about a new graphics card? Owning one for yourself!

Aw yeah man, we are giving away one Polaris 10 video card and one Polaris 11 video card thanks to our good friends over at AMD.

So, how do you enter to win one of these fine graphics cards?

    1. Post a comment below telling us what graphics card you're using in your rig and why you want an upgrade to AMD's Polaris lineup. The two winners will be selected at random, so no, the content of your comment doesn't REALLY matter, but this is more fun than seeing 800 posts of "I want it" or "gibe nao pls." One comment (entry) per user.

    2. Check back here in about a week when the names of our two winners will be added to the OP (giveaway execution is an art not a science people, so I apologize in advance if winners aren't announced in exactly one week).

    3. Check your inbox here on the forum to make sure you didn't miss it. Our winners' usernames will be added to the OP here, so if you have any question about the legitimacy of a congratulatory message regarding this giveaway, please be sure to check back here and see if your name has been added.

And, while this isn't a requirement, feel free to give our friends over at @AMDRadeon on Twitter a follow.

Winners will be PMed from this account on the forum. Please do not consider winner messages from any other user in regards to this giveaway.

This giveaway is worldwide with no age restriction.

    Best of luck to all!!

Golfball_Pro got a reaction from sakthi in New build July: Should I wait for Skylake?
When building a new PC, hardware advances so quickly that if you're waiting for the latest and greatest to be released, then you will end up waiting forever. If you wait for Skylake, by the time it is released, you may end up wanting to wait again because company X says they will release product Y in another month. You wait for product Y and after it is released...
    you get the idea.

You want my opinion? Build now. Unless you absolutely HAVE TO have the latest and greatest there is, it doesn't make sense to wait or you may end up waiting forever.
I just built an Ivy Bridge PC about 5 months ago because I found an awesome deal on a processor, motherboard and GPU (not a bundle by the way, I bought them separately). In comparison to my old build, it was much better. Sure it isn't the latest and greatest, but for my needs right now, it's enough and gets the job done.

A comparatively similar Haswell build would have cost me about 35% more but I would only have got maybe 10-15% more performance out of the Haswell build.

I guess what it comes down to is, unless there is a feature or performance increase that you absolutely must have, build a Haswell machine now, and save yourself the potential headaches that may come with a new product on the market. Haswell is tested and there are more people using it: if you find any weird issues, there is more of a chance of finding someone who found the issue too and can help you fix it. With any new product, most of the time you're on your own until more people adopt the new platform and start using it.
