  1. lol, even if you don't know that high dpi is meaningless, a good sign that it isn't a good pc gaming mouse is that their icon for it being good at gaming is a gamepad! If when you think pc gaming you think gamepads, you probably aren't making very good gaming mice....
  2. fyi laser isn't better then optical. In most cases optical is actually better. But if you insist on lazer, the m65 is probably the best bet.
  3. If you use a lower sensitivity, you will make a mouse malfunction unless it is using a gaming grade sensor. Gaming grade sensors will also have less speed related variance, especially if you get an optical one, which allows for but does not guarantee more precise muscle memory. Logitech's gaming grade mice also have like 10-20ms faster button registration then most other gaming mice and non gaming mice which is super minor but is a noticeable difference. I agree that gaming brand shit is cheesy, my mouse is the only gaming thing i own because i do play at low sensitivities and need a higher then average malfunction speed. For keyboards, i don't know, mechancial switches are typically more durable then membrane, so instead of the membrane only lasting like 3 years, you can spend 4 times as much for a mechanical that will last you 6-10 years if you take super good care of it.
  4. Topre have much shorter actuation distance and have a much shorter debounce time; which makes them superior gaming switches compared to any cherry switches. Plus they have tactile feel. The knock against them is some people like that mechanical click they get from cherry mx switches which you don' get with topre. Along with you know, the price...
  5. hard plastic warps. Soft is also easier to transport so if you're going to a LAN or a dev and want to bring your own gaming gear, much easier to fit in your luggage.
  6. browns aren't hard to hit and should be fine for gaming. Topre is another option, but they're pretty expensive, so probably not ideal for a beginner.
  7. yep, because the technical specs are such a great way to measure the quality of a sensor. Like the mlt04 is garbage compared to the 3988, right? The 9800 better then the 3310? i understand the distaste for the subjectivity and the witch hunts done by some on overclock.net, but you can't just throw away the human element and just go by specs either. It isn't enthusiast because its unpopular its enthusiast because enthusiasts want those things. my point is whats the harm of using an old design?
  8. your dpi or cpi determines your tracking speed. Both optical and laser mice are capable of being set to the 400 or 800 dpi settings that are most popular with cs:go players. Tracking speed has nothing to do with why optical is preferred. Also, why do you think that lower tracking speeds is more desirable in FPS when you can use ingame sensitivity to mimic as high or low a sensitivity as you like with effectively any dpi or cpi? Also Linus is mouse expert because he has a youtube channel? Here is what Logitech's product manager says about the difference . Whats that? Modern laser sensors are capable of good tracking on a wider range of surfaces but have speed related variance that effect's everyone's ability to build muscle memory whether thats in a fps or moving your cursor across a massive multiple display setup and its not some made up bullshit about tracking speed? You even mention optical sensor's ability to track on surfaces like glass in the OP, which is totally wrong, its laser that can track on a wide range of surfaces, like this video points out. Optical struggles on transparent surfaces like glass. Who would of thought you're full of bullshit? if you look at the image at the razer sight. the claw grip shows the palm is in contact with the mouse, correct? It shows the palm grip has the palm in contact with the mouse, correct? What is the main difference between the two? How low the fingers come in contact with the mouse. There are people that have their fingertips hanging over the front of the mouse, that is palm with a short mouse. When you lift your finger off the mouse and just have their tips touching the mouse, that is claw grip. What do you think the difference between a claw grip and a palm grip is otherwise? That if your finger forms certain sized angle or greater its palm? Yes, you can argue the authority of razer to define the different types of grip. That isn't the point. The point is you still said that your palm pic was identical to razer's palm pic. and it is 100% clear as day that your palm pic fits their claw grip criteria, not palm grip criteria. i am also not saying the way you shape your fingers is wrong. Palm isn't right and claw wrong. Claw is actually generally considered better for gaming. I am just pointing out that you provided a pic of you doing what is widely considered a claw grip and labeled it a palm grip.
  9. you are so unbeleivably stubborn. look at this pick you posted for palm plain as fucking day. Index finger isn't touching the mouse until the last phalanges. On the razer sight, it clearly has the entire index finger shaded in contact for palm and it clearly has just the last phalanges shaded for the claw grip. and you claim oh its identical to the palm. Because you're too arrogant to admit you were wrong.
  10. you don't have to play at max dpi, using a laser mouse doesn't make your tracking faster... Instead of making up bullshit and pretending you know what you're talking about, why don't you ask someone serious about fps why they don't use laser mice. Why don't you ask a professional cs:go player what made them choose the mouse they did? the problem when you make a generalization in a guide like this is maybe someone doesn't buy a g602 because they think it has poor battery life because you said lasers are more efficient..
  11. the g602 is optical and it has the longest battery life of any gaming wireless mouse i'm aware of. So i think you are ill informed on power consumption of the competing technologies. I didn't argue that older is better. But you argued that Laser is newer and because it is newer it is indicative of being a better technology. If you think the performance is negligable, why do you think if you play FPS games you'll probably prefer optical?
  12. Most of Razer's mice use laser sensors. Their deathadder is one of the few that use optical. But every pro cs go player i'm aware of uses optical. So randomly every mouse sponsor decides to force their players to use optical sensors according to your theory? I know Logitech has stated they don't ask their players to use any specific mouse, they let them choose between their lineup. I agree that sensor isn't everything and there are many factors that can go into the decision of what mouse they choose. But if laser or doesn't doesn't make a difference in competitive play, there should be a good amount of cs go players use laser sensors, and there aren't. What are the chances of only mice with optical sensors by chance being the most comfortable to use for every pro cs go player? Laser sensors aren't rare. ANd high dpi is such a non factor its so easy to interpolate high dpis suitable for any setup, the deathadder chroma for example uses the same optical sensor as the 2013 deathadder. the 2013 deathadder has a max dpi of 6400, the chroma has one of 10,000. Exact same optical sensor. High dpi is 100% marketing gimmick. You can simulate high dpi even if your mouse doesn't do it for you. Yep, and mechanical keyboards predate membrane keyboards, so clearly membrane keyboards are better, higher end, right? They're using newer technology that is going to make mechanical keyboards obsolete, right? People get impressed because "Laserbeams" means marketing teams know they can charge more for mice where they can advertise "LASERBEAMS" means greedy, evil corporations slap laserbeams on their product and up what they charge for it.
  13. the picture of palm clearly shows space between the lower finger and the mouse, it isn't like the razer pic. first, technically laser mice are optical mice. what people generally refer to as optical mice are LED mice. its LED vs Laser with both being optical. i am not saying Razer products are good. Its just Razer has a mix of LED/optical and laser. The last 5 gaming mice Logitech has released have been LED/optical, g302, g402, g502, g602, and g100s. LED/Optical is just flat out better. The g700/G500 are laser because they're old models before optical technology had improved. Its possible in a year or two from now the best sensors will be laser, but right now, the best sensors are LED/optical. your concept of high end is flawed. name a cs go pro that uses a mouse with a laser sensor. The best performing mice are LED aka, optical. CS Pros aren't using a deathadder or a g100s because they're cheap, they're using them because the best sensors their sponsors have in their mice are LED.
  14. both claw grip and palm grips have the palm in contact with the mouse. The difference between the two is the palm grip has the lower part of your fingers in contact with your mouse and depending on how the mouse fits in the player's hand possibly also the finger tips in contact with the mouse. While a claw grip has the lower part of your fingers off the mouse with just the tips and the palm in contact with the mouse. http://www.razerzone.com/gaming-mice has a picture in the middle showing what parts contact the mouse. In the palm grip it has the entire fingers in contact. might of misread the laser section a little. But umm, optical's lights aren't always visible, often they use infrared.
  15. i would say pic of a palm grip is a claw grip. palm grip has lower part of fingers touch mouse. That grip shows the lower part of the finger isn't, but the tip is touching, thats a claw grip. You don't need massive sharp edges to be a claw. also, the description of laser is incorrect. laser isn't higher end. Even with Razer, the Deathadder is clearly the FPS mouse from Razer. It does not use a laser sensor. Razer puts laser sensors in their mmo mice, with a massive number of buttons, not their FPS mouse. Modern Laser sensors perform inferiorly to modern optical sensors. Lasers are implemented in mice where tracking performance isn't important.
  16. technically an upgrade, bullshit. Technically the 3988 is a peice of shit... Technically you can't say one is better then the other, and i'm just as correct saying technically the 3988 is garbage. Can Zowie's mice be better? Can every mouse company's mice be better? Absolutely. The design decisions of Zowie mice point to enthusiasts being the main target more then any other mouse brand imo. Zowie mice aren't popular in competitive fps circles because there are a lot of hipsters there, they're popular because Zowie target enthusiasts even if their execution isn't as good as some other companies. the deathadd's design is pretty old as well.
  17. you shouldn't be using interpolation on any mouse... and i don't understand how you can't see the problem with the 3988 sensor. The krait's tracking even with synapse off was the worst i've experienced in a long time and i've spent over $600 buying different mice this year alone. Zowie is enthusiast driven because they make design decisions that are unpopular with the masses of gamers, but many enthusiasts find desirable. Not just 1 feature. Zowie mice are all very light for their size. Zowie mice have no software, no drivers, Zowie mice have the lowest average max dpi of any brand. Zowie mice don't have more then 2 buttons on a side of the mouse. Zowie mice don't have shiny customizable LED lights. Zowie mice don't have braided cables. Zowie mice don't use omron switches. If you were trying to design a mouse that appealed to the largest number of gamers, all of these would be nono's. But most enthusiasts like lighter then average mice, like plug and playability, can't use macros, have no need for a dpi above 3200, don't want more then 2 side buttons, love huano switches, don't care about shiny customizable LED lights and think Zowie's cables are better then every other brand's. compared to the deathadder, the closest thing razer has to a enthusiast mouse. Enthusiasts were just begging for that 10k dpi, right? Or those customizable lights? Or that massive smoothing? Or braided cable? Or that well over 100g weight not including the cable, that makes the mouse's build quality feel slightly better to ameteurs but slows down enthusiasts? Or needing synapse to customize their mouse?
  18. you realize that different generations of deathadders have very different tracking? Their only similarity is their shape? That the only Deathadder that had superb tracking was the original? the mlt04 sensor in all the mice you quoted from my post is the best sensor for tracking sub 1.3 m/s. it is a world renowned sensor. The deathadder is world renowned because Razer has great marketing. Razer has the best marketing Zowie is the most enthusiast driven Logitech is the most engineered Mionix is the most solidly build Steelseries has the best ergonomics imo.
  19. Mionix Avior 7000 Mionix Naos 7000 Roccat Kone Pure Military Steelseries Rival Logitech g502 Logitech g402 Logitech g302 Logitech g100s Zowie Fk Zowie Fk2 Zowie Fk1 Zowie Ec1 Zowie Ec2 Microsoft Wheel Mouse Optical 1.1 Intellimouse Explorer 3.0 Intellimouse Optical 1.1 Ninox Aurora
  20. g100s.... even if you aren't on a budget, good solid little mouse.
  21. The Logitech g502 is the highest end. Its not for everyone because its a little on the heavy side even without any additional weights and some people don't like the metal scroll wheel. But it has the best sensor bar none. Also, all modern Logitech mice have these super heavy duty cable connectors.
  22. The g400s is one of the mice that suffers from excessive smoothing. Ideally you want to avoid it.
  23. then yeah, the zowie fk1 is the obvious choice.
  24. light and simple, Logitech g100s. average weight with 2 side buttons, Zowie fk1 Heavier with more buttons, Logitech g502. Yeah, Zowie mice are quite good, especially the fk1. Zowie mice have the best cords, flexible and quality. The fk1 has the best implementation of the 3310 sensor, which is the premium non propietary sensor. The only issue is Zowie doesn't believe in mouse drivers, so there is no software, so they had to limit your dpi options to 4: 400, 800, 1600, and 3200.
