AndrewSATX reacted to FAQBytes in Trump Clarifies Position On ‘Shutting Down’ Parts Of The Internet
Let me explain why China's Great Firewall doesn't work.
VPN (EDIT- alright to clarify, make yourself look like you're in Germany. Not that hard.)
So, are we still gonna waste time and effort with this?
Just decided to run a quick google for a source, and found 5 ways to bypass China's firewall within 10 seconds. With bypassing security being so easy that I know idiots who know nothing about a computer that used VPNs to access Facebook in school.
https://www.techinasia.com/5-ways-sneak-chinas-great-firewall
EDIT- Moved this on up.
Everything is just so far off base when you actually know stuff...
So, let's put on out skeptic caps and debunk this garbage!
Those aren't mutually exclusive terms, those are essentially the same thing. Even if you don't buy that, what if they use VPNs to make it look like they are coming from a place like Germany? It simply CAN'T work the way he wants it to. It might work if they are 5, but they aren't. Youtube's Geographic Block system used to work, then society as a whole got smart.
Let me set up a VPN.
Downloads a VPN onto phone (I have 5 on my phone right this second)
Click Connect while connected to Mobile.
VPN connects
Click Hotspot
Voila, wasn't that easy? Now everyone in the room has uninterrupted access to anywhere since they are 'in Germany'.
I'm not sure what's funnier, the fact they think this will solve the issue, or the fact that you believe them. This is from US soil to ISIS.
What are they going to do? Ban Twitter? Ban every social networking site? If you weren't aware, this is where most of their communications take place. It's safe, 'secure', and for the most part, encrypted. I'd love to see what that 95% of the internet is. I'm assuming that 5% won't be hard to find.
No, this will not solve any issue. Plain and simple.
The fact that Trump is using a Def Con to prove his point is hilarity to the max, and if anything, disproves his position even more. I've been watching Def Cons since Def Con 12, and frequent the older ones. I GUARANTEE these guys have already put out how to bypass everything they put up. Wikipedia article for BGP: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Border_Gateway_Protocol I think the only reason Trump quotes this is because it contains the words "Border", "Gateway", and "Patrol", the things Trump loves. The funny thing is, most BGPs are fully anonymous. I'll have to rewatch this video to make sure I'm not missing anything, but as far as I am aware, Trump is well out of his league. Need I remind him this is a "Bad Guy Convention"?
Actually, no. It is as 'bonkers' as it first sounds. It would have almost 0 effectiveness against ISIS. Even if we were to follow China's example, it would be absolutely ineffective. I recommend reading more into this and educating yourself.
My Conclusion
In any degree, shutting any part of the internet down will be completely ineffective in the war against ISIS. A simple critical eye should be able to call BS on this. A simple VPN will completely crush any of these plans.
Ok, let's assume it manages to be 100% effective against VPNs (Which need I remind you is 100% impossible).
Then you'd have to prevent every type of Torr-like system out there as well, which no, will not happen. People are smart, especially when going against the Gov't.
Terrorists are fast and can change tactics on the tip of a needle. The government will always be chasing due to the simple fact of the Gov't bureaucracy and red tape.
Doing so would be an expensive waste of time.

AndrewSATX got a reaction from UltraNeonGaming in Introducing the New Corsair Sails Logo
The new logo looks sick. I love the rough edges and pirate like style.
And this logo in yellow look way better than that crappy tramp stamp.
Now I can buy corsair products again...

Using GPU and CPU for different Projects: (thanks to @Patramix for this!)
I am assuming you want something like Seti@home to use GPU and Rosetta to use CPU(this is what i have on my pc)? or something like that
To achieve that, you need to go on your account page for the project you want to use the CPU and GPU, then go to your @home preferences (under the preferences section where it says for example seti@home preferences).
Once on that page under the Primary (default) preferences section you can force that project to only use the CPU and/or GPU for task's under the Use CPU and Use ATI/Nvidia GPU's. Save your modifications, then either update manually the project in your boinc manager or let it self update and tada that project will only use either the CPU or GPU (or both).
Keep in mind not all project carry both cpu and GPU tasks. so make sure to check your project to see if it as both.
Also dont worry about the 0.015% cpu use for GPU task you cant change that and you will still have all cpu threads for your other project, like for me, my GPU does only Seti@home and cpu do only rosseta
If your running multiple pc's you can use the other profiles to change what each pc does.

AndrewSATX reacted to Ship2000 in No more unboxings in Linus Tech Tips in 2014?
Well... I wouldn't really like if you completely abandoned unboxinigs, but you could do less of them. I had always liked when you mixed the reviews and the unboxings into one video (when you talk the first time and slick the second part).

AndrewSATX got a reaction from Vitalius in Xbox One controller vs PS4 controller
The position of my hands holding the PlayStation controller is way better to me the Xbox feels like I bent wrist after using it, but the Xbox has a more beefy feeling compared to ps skinny body I like a little meat on my bones.

AndrewSATX reacted to mitchpman13 in Noob on soundcards
Hey guys I'm not that great with soundcards. When I look at them I see so many ports on them and kinda get confused. I use a 5.1 surround sound speaker system that I know goes in my orange, green, and black ports on my mobo. Would I benefit from the sound card? Also how can I tell which plugs go where?
