  1. Are you referring to response time? If so, I would say it does matter, but is wayyy overhyped. Do not fret over the difference between a display with a 5ms response time, and a display with a 1ms response time. Most modern displays are fine. If you aren't bothered by your current display, it isn't worth upgrading because you think a faster response will provide a superior experience - it probably won't. Also, manufacturers often stretch the truth when it comes to response times, so a 1ms display is often slower in reality.
  2. I don't see it as redundant, I see it as efficient. Having a single place for LTT social media, videos, and important updates (all under one account) is appealing to me.
  3. I'm not going to pretend as if they aren't there: they most certainly are. However, it's not like creating a subreddit for a specific community will cause some mass influx of angry redditors to the forums.
  4. I don't think reddit has any larger percentage of idiots/trolls than the rest of the internet; it's just a larger community, so you notice them more.
  5. For a single place to have all of the updates. Unless a twitter feed is incorporated into the forum. I don't intent any real forum-like discussion to take place there - it's more of an integration thing.
  6. I don't know if any of you have seen /r/linustechtips, but it is entirely dead. So, I made reddit.com/r/Linus_Tech_Tips yesterday and threw a little bit of CSS on it (no clue what I'm doing, it's a WIP). At the very least his videos will be posted there by a bot, and I will post some of his updates from twitter/instagram (for people who don't have twitter/instagram accounts), along with other various things (WAN Show reminders, important forum topics, etc.). Hope you guys like it!
  7. I'm for it. I watch your channel now for analysis and a little bit of personality (the end of this last week's WAN Show reminded me of how much I missed the oldschool after parties with retro games and terrible jokes). If you have a daily news show, that would increase my engagement in your content. I think you have a really unique perspective on where products fit into the market, the future of new technologies, and I really respect your opinion (I would not have appreciated G-sync for what it is without your testimony). Couple that with gamer Luke, and you have a very good show. I don't watch your unboxings for stat sheets, I watch them for the overclocked benchmarks at the end, the "So, where does this fit in?", and the Linus-in-a-bathtub. If you can incorporate that into your new set of content, and give more in-depth reviews, I see nothing lost. At the end of the day, people hate change, so you will get flak for this, but I think it's a good long term way to improve the channel. I have a lot more reasons for advocating this change, but you get the idea.
  8. Linus, you are clearly post farming, which is against the CoC. Someone ban this clown.

  10. Alpha will be out well before then, then beta. But yes, the official release is about 1.5 - 2 years from now.
  11. Ehhh, this is a bit of gray area. It's not against any rules, but they've asked people not to do it. If you do really want LTI, Baragoon can be trusted.
  12. Well, it's only in pre-pre-pre-pre-pre-pre alpha right now, and you can only run around in your hangar. Chances are you won't be able to run the full game when it's released in two years no matter what you buy. The dogfighting module is coming before the end of the year. Any ship to pledge for is fine, as you can earn them all in game; they're more of a little head start in the persistent universe so you don't have to take out a loan at the beginning of the game. The Avenger is a cool ship for sure. They all have they're perks. Another thing to note is that they are currently in the process of creating all of the ship variants; the hornet line (original, ghost, tracker, super) is the first to be completed. You can melt your package at any time and use that store credit to change ships in the future, if you want. Here's a gallery of the Avenger: http://imgur.com/a/ryOoK#4 As far as whether or not you should pledge, I would say definitely.
  13. I would go with an AX1200i, if you need that much wattage.
  14. They take your money when the device ships, however, the bank will hold your money as soon as you place the order. Google contacts (sort of) them to make sure you actually have the money, and they hold it until your device ships, when they give it to Google. So, they aren't technically taking your money until it ships, but you will need to have the money in your account when you make the purchase.
  15. I think (hope) most of us understand this. Honestly, I think you're finding a good balance of professionalism in unboxings/reviews and LinusnessTM in The WAN Show. Obviously, LinusnessTM isn't a measurable quantity, so it can't always be a perfect ratio, but we don't expect it to be.
  16. I really don't think that's what OP said at all. He acknowledged that he understands and enjoys that majority of the changes, but misses Linus' on the spot reactions to things.

    SP LED Fans?

I personally think LED fans are gaudy, but more power to ya if that's your thing! Building your own PC is all about what YOU want, so I voted yes - options ftw.
