  1. Found a video on youtube from six months ago where somebody had the same problem. They solved it. Go to driver selection like normal on the AMD website; Vega 56 drivers. Don't download the top one, the win10x64, get the enterprise drivers. Works like a charm. Edit: DDU to uninstall current drivers and CRU to re-add Freesync to your radeon settings. My Freesync turned off at some point and wouldn't come back on, you gotta use CRU to add Freesync @ 60-144 Hz on your main display.
  2. Starting off, I had to update my video drivers so I could play RD2, it will not launch without updated drivers. AMD, Acer Predator Laptop, Helios 500. "desktop" vega 56 GPU and 2700 non-X CPU. Updated drivers, and since then, the Acer Predator Sense will NOT work, no matter what I uninstall and reinstall, completely clean and delete. Minor inconvenience, since ALL fan control is in that app. Great. Now when I close my laptop to put it to sleep and open it back up, it just has a static screen. With or without my second monitor plugged in. My second monitor doesn't static when I open, only the one physically attached to the laptop. If I put it on Hibernate, it won't do it. Sleep, static, have to reboot and everything. I've just not been putting it to sleep and letting it run, but that's getting kinda rough on my fans. Googling, in my case didn't help anything. Acer support is half roulette of either a great CS or a dingbat that doesn't know what a CPU is. Any help or suggestions would be appreciated, I'm pretty sure it's a driver issue, but I'm not 100% on that.
  3. Actually, I got a CS rep now that was able to understand the problem, pictures, and got it straightened out. Mostly. Still gotta return it and wait for a new one to arrive, they don't the "send and place a payment hold" like the Amazon do.
  4. It's too far past amazon's return to send it back; it's been sitting a while and I just got my extra HDDs in there for more memory. After dealing with Acer's horrible support for a $1500 laptop, I don't think they seem to care, or they have other things to worry about with ***id-19 going around.
  5. For a bit now I've been wondering why my USB Type C on my BRAND NEW Acer 500 wasn't working. It still charges things, and that's all I really needed, but now the second port started acting funny. In my adventures to clean the blower fans, which requires taking the whole backside off(Little short sighted on the gaming laptop perspective). I figured i'd check the solder joints on the USB connectors to the motherboard. Turns out, the NXT or Eberhard they had doing the solder paste stenciling was missing on the sides. Does anybody have any experience in dealing with Acer over voids on their motherboards? Moreover, this problem would be getting any motherboard they have going through that stencil or solder paste squeegee. I work with class 3 electronics that go through the whole process all day, that's the only way I thought to check.
  6. Rolled back drivers, DDU'd my ATI drivers beforehand. I've gone through a whole decimal of drivers trying to find something that'd work. Latest driver as of now, 18.3.4. Crashing still. PSU should be good, it's a Corsair RMx 650 and I haven't noticed any other problems with any other games like Assassin's Creed Origins, WoW, GTA V. I could try moving some cables around, my voltmeter is around here somewhere if I need to go that far. Might end up doing another fresh windows install, but I did that not long after I got my SSD as my main drive. Latest crash log:
  7. Latest crash is showing ATI dll janking up now. 8. I'm running an all AMD build, 1700 and a Fury Nitro. FFXV is installed on my SSD. The game crashes usually when I'm in combat or I'm saving, right when it says "Saving" in the top left corner. All the nvidia stuff is turned off, of course. My RAM and GPU memory usage usually stay about half. GPU memory runs 2.4/4GB and RAM is anywhere between 5-8GB out of 16GB. I've reinstalled the game twice, and my drivers multiple times. I am using the latest drivers on everything I can think of. The pagefile size is currently set to 32GB. Crash logs.
  9. It was either CC or Glary that had a security flaw come out. I think it was Glary, but I'd check to make sure.
  10. Essentially all this. Hit the CMOS jumper with a screwdriver, or pull out the battery for 10+ seconds. Turn off or unplug your PSU, hit your power button (that turns on the computer, not the switch on the PSU) to discharge; fans may spin just a little bit. Put battery back in, turn on PSU/plug it in, try again. PS/2 KB/Mouse are useful for situations like this. Clearing CMOS "should" work.
  11. Over the past couple days I've lost the ability to upload anything to the internet. I've tried on Chrome and FireFox. My phone will upload things fine, but it's a bit of a hassle. Facebook, imgur, ebay. Nothing. Router says I'm uploading stuff. I've reset everything and none of it has worked.
  12. Cats or dogs. Maybe a bearded dragon, they're pretty chill. They enjoy the warmth from a PC case. They shed, but it peels off instead of just getting all over your clothes.
  13. I'm still trying to get around to selling my 2600k. I had it paired with my 290. Just hard to dump off my old girl, we got to 4.9ghz together on air for a while.
  14. Honestly, you got the fever. It's okay, we all get it. If you're going to upgrade, get an 8GB card. 1070, wait for Vega aftermarket cards. Up to you on that one. I had a 290 and grabbed the Fury Nitro when they went on sale, now I'm selling my 290(a LOT later, ooops.).
