  1. Does any one know if there is SOC being developed for making a Amiga 500-1200 ? Bit like the Super NES mini and PS1 mini retro machines today, that you can plug into HDMI.
  2. So what programs do you guys use, if not Nice Hash ? And is there a link in the forum where some one has already done the leg work ?
  3. Is there a guide to mining ethereum I have a 2070 super and a 970 and I would like to mine with them at night. Just wondering if there is a good guide on the software to use and wallets. 1 year with the 2070 super running it 10 hours a day is seems after paying electric I can make the cost of the card back. 970 it marginal. I don't want to be conned and my inbox is just full of people trying to get me to sign up to their crypto mining. The adds seem a bit pushy to be legit. I don't want to be mining and find out I'm putting the profits into some one else wallet. Ethereum seems to be paying the most out for crunching numbers at the moment. I nearly went with Nicehash but was put of by being asked to turn off my virus software. Any tips and legit links would be great Thank you guys
  4. does any one know the size of the threaded inserts Linus used for the standoffs
  5. There's many reason for micro stutters, bad drivers being one. I had to find a old 2012 driver for my 440 GTX graphic card for Lara Croft, guardian of light game. this had really bad freezing problem on the card. Euro Truck Simulator 2 I had to go into Task manager and disable some of the CPU cores in affinity settings off the game, where as most games that run unreal engine seem to be fine. The only thing you can do is monitor your system when it happens to see if there any cause. Often there a CPU spike and then a big frame drop. some games do it. some games work fine and it's not linked to any hardware brand ! Personally I think it down to drivers
  6. time being , i would just leave the side panel off and aim a desk fan at it, just till you get your new case maybe go into the setting and select your bottom GPU as your main GPU when games don't play in sli mode
  7. I've gone over to using my media PC for daily use like Youtube, Facebook, accounts, old PC games ect I'll keep the gaming/poweruser PC for AAA games and ripping and converting films. my media PC would take 7-10 hours of use before it reaches the same amount of energy my gaming PC uses in a hour
  8. Just thought it might change the direction of the cooling some what, sorry it didn't work. The only difference i can see between your old case and the new one is the old case had a 120mm fan directed a the GPU's and the fan only being a inch of two from the graphic cards it's self. Judging by what you said in your comments , this seems to have a directs effect on the temp of the SLI GPU setup. My 1 card use to run at about 75c and I wasn't happy with that so i bought a card with hybrid cooling (watercooling) and this run between 40c-65c. 65c was a stress test with MSI kombuster. the air cooled card would reach 80+c with the stress test can only really suggest anything else other than jury rigging the same distance as your old case. maybe moving the bottom card further away from the top card, though that would mean losing the RGB sli connector and I don't even know if your board has another 16x slot below to allow you do do that ? though you can get 16x slot ribbon cables to allow you to do this. Water cooling would be the best options but i do understand why you're not happy doing this and would end up costing you about £200 on water blocks ect. I'm going to buy a second hand 980 or 980 ti and I have a bracket for my old corsair sealed 140mm radiator. Just because i know how hot card can get under air cooling. not only that, cooler the card runs the longer they seem to last ( well just something i find)
  9. I am thinking of making a aviation screen setup out of 3 old laptop screens each screen draws about 8-10 watts. 4 screens and it would be like looking out of a real air craft lol. it's just finding the right controller board for the screens.if i can find a controller board that would run all 3 screens , that would be great low powered PC for Microsoft flight simulator. over kill mod lol
  10. My media PC uses 35watts under load and i have a radeon R5 m330, soon as i add that i know it going to go up to 60 watts under use. the card has no vga dvi or hdmi connection on it (the pci plate is blank), it's purely made for hybrid graphics and will only turn on during gaming oh it only has one hybrid ssd hd drive in there
  11. maybe get a BIOS screen shot and explain that the power states mean
  12. Are you still drawing 500watts even while not gaming and do you have a large tv on at the same time ?? you might want to check what could be using 500watts an hour
  13. according to your reading, you're using about 500watts an hour. that quite a lot, are you running in sli mode ???
  14. lets assume you leave your pc alone and on , no power save states, just on and not in use ! i think that's what most people think off. If you want to help them reduce power cost , then explaining the power states might help. I don't think any one needs to rubs people noses in it when it comes to any person level of ignorance of PC hardware and software use
  15. Yeah because some of us haven't done it under lab conditions doesn't make it any less note worthy. I have a few projects on at the moment and i haven't posted in Linus forum for a long time. i'm making a custom case and a custom semi modular micro ATX power supply. had a lot of that's not a good idea ! and all i can think off, is wait till you see when it's finished you fecker I'm also going to update my PC after Christmas and I am trying to get an idea of what the most efficient high end gaming components are ?? If i'm not gaming all the time do i really need anything more than a raspberry Pi3 ??
