  1. Hey man, Post was by my cousin who the board is for. Trying to get the specific number component number.
  2. Hey guys, I've blown a mosfet/transistor off my motherboard (used the wrong modular power cable to try and power a cheap fan controller). if anyone has this model: Asus Maximus Viii Hero Alpha. I've attached a photo of the blown mosfet, there are 3 different other kinds on the mother board but I need to know which one it is so i can get a replacement. If anyone has this motherboard I'd really appreciate some help working out that component model number (should be on top of the part) Thank you!
  3. Hey guys, I just purchased the new Venom blackbook 15 zero. It is a really nicely built laptop and I am enjoying it, however the touchpad is a bit dodgy and I think i expected it to work a little better than it does, does anyone know if this could be improved with drivers or downloading software? I want to use features like three finger swipe to enter task view which currently isnt on this model. Also the main issue is whenever I rest my thumb on the trackpad it registers it as two fingers, other touchpads I have used still let me use the mouse normally even though my thumb is resting on it. Any thoughts? cheers, A.
  4. Hey Alwin, yeah you are right, I haven't really done any research properly in the laptop range, realistically though I'd be going for an i5, 8gb ram, no dedicated gpu and probably second hand. A second drive isn't really necessary but it would be handy as I can pick up some smaller ssds on the cheap atm. lets say I drop some of my expectations, do you have any recommendations in a $1000 budget?
  5. Hey guys, I'd rather go pc, not a fan of apple products. Touch screen isn't necessary, something slim and light would be good, going to have to lug this thing around a fair bit. 2 hdd/ssd slots would also be prefferable, doesn't need to come with large capacity drives I can get cheaper parts elsewhere if need be. Just looking to find a laptop with decent workstation specs and high quality screen for photo and art work editing, No preferred brands, but i'd like to stay away from the "gamer" aesthetic; something clean, thin and light weight. thanks for the help! any further suggestions would be greatly appreciated
  6. Hey guys, I'm looking to pickup a laptop that will only be used for work based stuff, in particular photoshop, some indesign and illustrator as well, Budget is negotiable but obviously cheaper is better, the kind of work shouldn't be too taxing on the cpu, but looking for an i7(or i5 if otherwise recommended), 8gb ram, 2 drive slots would be optimal, What are your thoughts on laptop models that have an ips display for this kind of work, atleast 1920x1080. cheers fellas.
  7. Hey gang, Trying to decide between a nvidia 780 ti and a 960, the cards will only be used for in video editing work stations, videos will be approximately 60 seconds to 5 minutes in length and will need to render 6 per work day. How much of a difference will the beefier 780 ti make on the rendering of the videos, will only be using adobe premiere. The 780 ti here in AUS is around 450 AUD, where as the 960 is about 315 AUD. Cheers
  8. Hey guys just wondering for those of you out there that have an R9 390 (or X version) how much you can overclock with the cards? I am thinking about picking one up Cheers
  9. Any particular reasons why I shouldn't go crossfire?
  10. Hey gang, just wanted to get your opinion. I am running a single 7950 (msi twin frozr ii) not getting great performance on the Witcher 3; around 45-50 fps average on high settings (overclocked core to 1150Mhz). I could probably pick up a second 7950 for an expected 150-200 AUD, or do you think it would be better to go for a brand new single gpu solution? Looking at a 390 (for around $500 AUD) or possibly a 970 (also around $500 AUD), The ideal scenario would be to run The Witcher on ultra settings with a solid 60 fps average. Thoughts? Cheers
  11. Could make for some fun even if you want repair it, could do a teardown photoshoot. or put it on top of your next christmas tree
  12. I'm running a MSI HD 7950, so it's pretty old (around 3 years), If I run Metro 2033 redux, at stock speed (960mhz) I get around 40-50 fps, I usually overclock it to 1150mhz, and 1550mhz on the memory, and I get a really stable 60fps, goes up to 70ish when in the towns of metro (not in fire fights) but doesnt dip below 55 in fights. So yeah, overclocking can be really effective depending on the game, I find it's really good if you have older hardware, you might not see huge improvements with a brand new card like a 970 or something, but maybe in a year or two it might save you buying a new card, I know it has for me, was thinking about getting a new card a year ago, but I'm still maxing most games with pretty good fps results.
  13. Get a hd 7950 I still max most games, you can pick em up for like 150
  14. For more than 2 sli slots you could look at the older 2011 motherboards, they have pretty good sli support, or you could go for a 2011-3, like the others said you want maximum bandwidth across the lanes. atleast x8
  15. Thanks for the help guys, I should have mentioned I will be using CS5.1 not CS6, not sure if that makes a huge difference, I won't be using premiere or after effects. Cheers
