So I am planning to Liquid cool my PC but I have never made my own loop before so I am looking for some help in the pricing area and at and what I should be buying. It would be nice if someone could help with a part list or even recommended brands. I was looking at maybe using the Swiftech H320 X2 AIO Liquid Cooling Kit then added in the extra hoses and brackets that I need. That's what I was told when I was shopping for the two monitors. I heard from multiple sources that if you have a machine that is actually truly using the 144hz then I shouldn't need G-Sync. This has proven to be true because I haven't had any Sync issues.
-
Personally I upgraded to a ultra-wide recently and after weighing in the differences I decided on a BenQ XR3501 and I love it. It's a quite a bit cheaper but on the downside it doesn't have G-Sync. But I haven't had any issues with it and I love it.

Help me choose a CPU and Motherboard

That Z97-AR seems like it would work just fine and might just get that one. I want to point out again however that I was never really budgeting.- 7 replies

Help me choose a CPU and Motherboard

Aesthetics kinda do matter because my PC is set up in the lounge room side on so the window is visible. So it is a part of the rooms aesthetics, however if its a all black board or something then it would look fine.- 7 replies

Hello all, I am looking to put a new CPU in my PC and decided to seek the assistance of the fine individuals of linustechtips forms. I know that I want a Intel CPU which means I need a new motherboard because my current CPU is AMD. As of right now I am planning on getting the i7 4790k with a ASUS Maximus VII Hero. I am interested to see if any others have better suggestions or ideas for me. Price isn't to much of an issue but I will say I don't plan on spending $1200 on that i7 5960x. The motherboard must also support SLI as I am running dual GTX 970's.

I don't really demand ultra but I like my games to at least run on high. I'm thinking I will just get a single GTX 970 for now and a new motherboard because regardless that will be a improvement from what I have now and then buy a second 970 whenever I decide I want an extra boost.
-
Ok so it seems to me that 2 970's seem to be the better option however then I run in a new problem and that is that my motherboard isn't SLI compatible (amature mistake during purchase). Would it still be worth it for me to buy a new motherboard because it seems I am going to need one anyway because Asimrc mentioned that 3 screen practically means 2 card minimum?

Hello I'm new here and you all seem like a great bunch. I have a question about upgrading my GPU. With the new GTX 970 and 980 I was thinking about upgrading my GPU to something a bit more powerful because my GTX 760 just doesn't cut it any more since I moved to 3 1080p monitors. I am looking into getting a GTX 980 but I wanted to check with some others about what my best option is to upgrade into for running 5760x1080 gaming. My budget isn't exactly tight but I will have to decide at time of purchase how much I want to spend. I also generally prefer Nvidia cards but I am open to be convinced in to a AMD if there is a good enough benefit to change.
