AMD will release the new chips in a month or two. So best if you wait, you don't wanna endup like all the recent buyers of RTX20 series.
3800XT is not worth it. It only adds 100mhz from the original chip which is obtainable with a small overclocking.
If you wanna throw money for a temporary chip, the best option is to get a 2600, the price is so damn low, once you have the 4000 chip, you can just sell it with minimum damage.

Dont bother with the 3800XT. I would say for your needs a 3600 would probably be best suited, as 6 cores and 12 threads is plenty for gaming.

Then upgrade to 4000 series if you want.
Try and go B550. I havent seen any review of the ITX boards yet, but hardware unboxed said they are working on a roundup.

Just remember that these new cards are likely going to be rather large, so a ITX system may be a challenge. Just make sure to check the dimensions, and whether the case offers adequate cooling for such a high power card

Wait for a custom card with a more traditional cooler. Either of the A4 cases, really any vertical GPU mount, is going to be a toaster oven. That goes doubly so if they're a case that separates the GPU from the board via a partition or divider. The air that would normally escape from the card's front fan would be pushed into a literal wall and not able to properly vent.

This is speculation on my part, but I have my doubts about any reference design RTX 3070, 3080 or 3090 being a great choice for any ITX case other than baby towers like the Tu150 and H210. That cooler was designed for an ATX mid-tower imo.

the InWin should be just fine with thermals, twin bottom fans to force air up right across the GPU and rear exhaust would be a great positive pressure system. If you put in a trio of beQuiet PWM 120mm fans or noctuas it would be dead silent and more than enough airflow.
really wish they had released that one before I ended up with my CM elite 130

    Hello,

    Trying to understand this.
I always heard, since the first lcd monitors appeard on PC, that it should always run at the native resolution or it would look like crap.
So if a screen is 1080p in resolution, a game should be run at 1920x1080 and if a screen is 4k, then the game should be run at 3840x2160.

But most games on the PS4 pro dont run at 3840x2160.
There are plenty that on the Pro run at 1440p resolution.

Is the result the same if I run my pc at 1440p resolution connected to a 4k tv?
Or does the PS4 somehow makes non native resolution look better?
I am not talking about games like uncharted or horizon that use checkerboarding to output at 4k resolution.
I am talking about games like crash bandicoot for example that run at a fixed 1440p on the PS4 pro.

    Cheers!

    To each their own.
Same way as I don't find comfort in gaming at a desk with a monitor, office chair and keyboard and mouse as that puts my mindset on a work and obligation environment as opposed to the big TV and recliner that feels like hobby and relaxation time,
So do I find way more comfortable and enjoyable to consume internet content, especially text on a tablet on a nice book reading position rather than the computer.
For multimédia content, once again the.tv and couch.

Also, as this is going, in 2 years, a mid range card like a nvidia 70 series will have a msrp way higher than a whole console.

    Come on...
    Consoles don't have mediocre visuals...
Looking at digital foundry graphics comparisons, most of the time they have to either pause the screen or zoom in to 300% for the differences to be seen.

I just spent a few time on candyland you tube Chanel and digital foundry looking at some comparisons between pc and ps4.

From what I saw, yes, there are differences of course, but most of the times, the differences in graphics had to be shown either with the screen freezed or zoomed in to 300%.

So that is my point I guess.
Outside the framerate where most big console games are locked to 30, the difference in graphics is not that big, especially when actually playing, moving, shooting, dodging....

That's what I was saying, most big budget, big studio AAA games of today are developed either as a single console exclusive when financially backed either by Sony or Microsoft, or are developed for all as multiplats.
From a financial stand point, it makes more sense to develop for the lowest common denominator and that is why currently I feel all the power, high specs and cost of a gaming pc are hard to justify just for gaming, especially if a person is a more casual gamer that is into single player story driven games and not online games or competitive games.

    Forgot to mention, 1080p gaming.
a 1060 cannot do 4k and the ps4 pro only does it in some titles and uses checkerboard rendering.

    Hello, how are you?
I am having a hard time making a decision here.
    I currently have a 3700k on an old Asus P8Z68V-Gen3 board with 16gb (2x8) Gskill Ripjaws X 2400 CL11 ram.
My 3770k is not the greatest overclocker so I run it at 4.5 1.2v daily.
My gpu is a 1080 Ti clocked ad 2000 core and my display is 1080p 144hz G-Sync.

Someone I know locally is selling a bundle with:
    6700k
    Gigabyte Z170X Ultra Gaming Motherboard
    32gb (2x16) Crucial Ballistix Sport LT 2400 CL16 RAM.

Everything is boxed and in great looked after condition.
Now, the board is not the greatest, and the VRM worries me a bit being 4+3 phases.
But then again, the Asus Hero for example uses 8 cpu phases, but they are doubled, so I don't know how much better a board like that would actually be, and if to  have some proper VRM I wouldn't have to end up spending over 200 on a board alone.

Now, what is getting me thinking is the price.
He will let me have the bundle for 400 Euros.
I am in Portugal, so EU prices.
Anyway, I think it might be a sweet deal.
GIven current RAM prices, 400 for a 6700k, z170 board and 32 gigs of DDR4 seems sweet.
But is it a good deal?
    Should I take it?
It also worries be the RAM, being only 2400 since I would must use it for gaming.

Sites like digital foundry already showed that RAM speeds matter.
The ram is 2400 at 1.2v.
Would I be able to clock it to 2800 or 3000 at 1.35v?

Also, how much of a bottleneck would 2400 ram on a 6700k actually be?

I am thinking about getting it, then try an sell my 3770k with board and ram.
If I could get 300 for it, the upgrade would cost me 100.
    Good deal?
    Should I take it?

Also, 8700k is really nice, but it's 400 the CPU alone. So currently it is not for me.

    What are your thoughts?

    Cheers!

    Hello, how are you?

    Today I am very happy.
I got a Force Feedback 2 USB joystick.
It is on great condition, no dents, scratches or any marks and works great!
I can't wait to get back to X-wing alliance and freespace 2.
But because the joystick wasn't used in many years, it is a bit dirty. Mainly on the joints and such.
I was thinking about using alcohol and some cuetips to get the dirt out, but I don't know of alcohol would hurt the plastic.

Any suggestions on the best way to clean this?

    Thank you.
    Best regards

Liquid Ultra is newer and a small amount better
no clue, a year or something? mine is still good but its been like a coupple of weeks lol
    when it goes bad
its very fluid but it sticks to the die and IHS so it dosent matter
cooler temps, more maintnance, pretty good risk to kill the CPU if you screw up

also LM is a pain to remove from anything so make sure you DO NOT SPILL IT!

Here is a tut that explains everything really well:

I Personally use a vertical mounted motherboard and had no problems yet, but if you plan on not re-seal the integrated heatspreader i would use a horizontal one.

For Delidding i used the DelidDieMate 2 from Der8auer, but i guess you can use what u like most.

Hello, I love delidding and will gladly question your answers.
I'd personally go for Thermal Grizzly Conductonaut, it's better than either pro or ultra I've heard of Liquid Pro or Liquid Ultra drying up after a while, and apparently Conductonaut is impervious to this, however I haven't used either of them long enough to know, but so far everything else about Conductonaut is true. It's got a higher thermal conductivity and is a little easier to apply alright. It also comes in very German packaging.  I mean, Conductonaut claims to be never need to replacing (I'll get back to you on that in 2 years). I'd say replace if the temps get high again, until that happens no one really knows.  Yes, it's quite fluid, being mostly gallium, it's very liquid, but also a very high viscosity. If applied right with no excess, it won't drip or run though. If you want a horizontal layout go for it, but it isn't needed.  Not really, the top of tie die is silicon despite what some people say. I clean mine with all kinds of acids (Sulphuric acid 80%, Hydrochloric acid 90%, Nitric acid 60%)  and have never seen the polished silicon change.
