AttackofMax's Achievements

  1. 1. I've tried it as an exhaust and switched to intake just to see if it would help a little and everything just stayed the same. 2. the lead is over everything. I seated the heat sink first then wired it up so the cords aren't the problem Yes I am using Link but I feel like the temps on that are lies because realtemp tells me the cores and not even one of the cores runs at the low temp Link tells me, Yes the pump is plugged into the cpu1 fan not the auxiliary cpu fan header. The fans are using the fan splitter and plugged into the pump. But thanks for the question.
  2. I would try to do that but I think the hose would press against the window panel of my case or my gpu. I'll try that when I get the chance.
  3. Well I added a picture of the orientation of the heat sink because it doesn't seem to be resting on any capacitors or even that close to anything that emits heat besides the cpu itself. Also for some reason the orientation of the picture seems to have rotated even though it shouldn't have.
  4. Oh yeah forgot about that. I used the pea method and it is very clear the fans that come with the H80i are crap when it comes to noise level. Lot of help man, thanks again.
  5. If I do have a severe case of bad mount m8, what could be the problem? Could it be that I have it on too tight? Thanks a lot M8!
  6. 1. Why? 2. I will try that after rotating the heat sink 3. I am using Arctic silver 5 4. The pump isn't the noise problem, the fans are. The instructions say bottom is best. Thanks.
  7. I had installed this cooler improperly the first time I tried making my computer and threw in the stock heat sink that my i7 4790K came with and it did exceptionally well. Decent lows of 32c ish and highs around 80c while running 3D Mark. It was completely silent and kept me playing games until I could get more Arctic silver 5 to install the H80i properly. What the hell happened! My idles were at about 33c but now 40c and when I ran 3D Mark it went up to 91c. I cannot bench test with prime95 because as soon as I start it, the cpu immediately shoots up to 85c then 95c and then throttles at 105c where I shut it down before any damage happens all in about 20 seconds. I have re-seated the heat sink, applied more compound, changed the fans to intake air rather than exhaust like I wanted (I know intake is better), changed all the settings in the Corsair link program where I had to do some regedit to get the fans and pump to show up and also get it to let me update the firmware. I have no clue what the problem is with this thing. Also with the stock cooler my GPU was running great at 25c-35c max while gaming and is now idling at 40c when I am only typing this. Side note: The H80i is so god damn loud! I don't know what to do, I do not understand how it can change this drastically, I am calling Corsair in the next few days but I hope someone could help me figure this out here. I want to switch back to the stock cooler but I am guessing that I have to do some diagnostic stuff for Corsair and for here so any advice or ideas is much appreciated. Thank you for taking the time to help. Edit: I am running at stock clock everyone, overclocking later when this problem is fixed. Link Stats: H80i Pump 2200 (full speed) H80i Temp 25c H80i Fans 3 & 4 1700 rpm (performance mode)(loud as hell!!!) i7-4790K Temp 32.5c (do not trust that at all, realtemp says lowest core is 35c and highest is 39c with jumping up to 42c) My GTX 970 sitting at 40c... doing nothing... so confused. Also gpu fan speed 1600 rpm. I should have just gotten an evo 212 cooler for $40 rather than this $80ish pain. Sorry about being frustrated, just things were fine and now putting in supposedly better equipment and everything goes wrong.
  8. I have put together my computer and I believe that everything is hooked up right and things should be fine. I tried booting up just to see if everything would at least start because I do not have an OS yet and I get a series of beeps, one for turning it on then one long, four short, and then a pause with another short beep afterwards. I just want to get it to post and be ready for windows to install when I get 8.1 Three of my fans spin up but they are connected to a fan controller and my CPU cooler fans do not spin up. My parts are on my profile but to save you the trip - CPU - i7 4790K Motherboard - Asus Z97-A RAM - G.Skill Ripjaws 1866 16GB GPU - Gigabyte G1 Geforce GTX 970 PSU- Cosair CXM 750W Storage - 840 EVO 250GB + WD 1TB Blue And an Asus disc drive This is my first build and I'm just happy that I got to see the fans spin and light up blue and also hear something from the computer. Any help is much appreciated and if there's any other info you need or steps you think I need to take, please tell me. Thank you for your time.
  9. I really want a 3D printer ._.

  10. The EDG750 PSU because I'm looking for a 750W PSU and I have an Antec GX500 case.
  11. I know I can fit A "GTX 970" in there but I don't know if the Gigabyte model will have enough clearance or if it will mess with the air flow of the case. A GTX 970 MSI or ASUS or the EVGA ones will fit but i feel that the Gigabyte card looks better, has a more stable 6+8 pin power, and that it is cooler and more quiet. I'd like to hear what others think which 970 is the best choice. Why not a 1 TB WD Black? Haha, yeah, no. I mean it would have the capacity and performance I'd like but at a bigger cost than just alone getting a 128-256 GB SSD for the OS/Games/everyday and a 1 TB Blue or Black or a hybrid for mass storage at half the price of that one EVO with most of the same performance. Thanks for the recommendation but that one part would be a third of my "budget", however loose it may be. If you find any SSD + HDD combinations that may be good, let me know. Thanks.
  12. Okay let me just make this clear, by content creation I do not mean 3D modeling (even though I'm slightly interested in doing that) or anything that hardcore. I mean video editing and streaming. I know that 8 GB is plenty for gaming today and I plan on upgrading to 16 GB later on even though I can go up to 32 GB... but that would go to waste for what I'm using this computer for. Thank you very much for the comments, keep them coming.
  13. My budget is around $1,200 ish range in $USD. A little above or below is fine but I am looking for a decent price to performance ratio. I am aiming to use this computer for a great gaming experience and content creation/streaming and will be using my 1080p @ 60Hz TV at first, then replacing that with a decent high refresh rate monitor w/G-Sync and pairing that with a small side monitor later down the line. The peripherals I'm going to use are my simple mouse that I've been using for a pretty long while now and my keyboard I haven't decided what to get yet but I will make sure that I comment what I choose when I make that decision. This is my first build and I am upgrading from my late 2012 Mac Mini with a 2.3 GHz Intel Core i7 8 cores, 4 GB 1600 MHz RAM, and Intel HD Graphics 4000 512 MB graphics... to (just general info) a Intel Core i7 4790K 4.0 GHz Quad-core, 8 GB 1866 MHz RAM, and a Gigabyte GTX 970 4 GB. Specs: CPU: Intel Core i7 4790K 4.0 GHz Quad-core Motherboard: EDIT -MSI Z97-G45 Gaming LGA 1150 RAM : Corsair Vengeance 8 GB (2 X 4 GB) DDR3 1866 MHz PSU: EDIT -Corsair CSM 750M 750W 80 PLUS GOLD Modular (Purchased)(Might be a little overkill but I want to be able to upgrade later without having to buy another PSU) GPU: Gigabyte Windforce GTX 970 4 GB (12" length) Storage: EDIT -Kingston 240 GB SSD V300 + WD 1 TB Blue Case: Antec GX500 (Already purchased) (Max GPU size 15") CPU Cooling: Cooler Master Seidon 240M Links: CPU - http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16819117369 Motherboard - http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813130771 RAM - http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820233142 PSU - http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16817139061 GPU - http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814125685 Storage - http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820721108 + http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16822236339 Case - http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16811129204 CPU Cooling - http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16835103181 I need opinions and thoughts about this build, my first one so any tips or suggestions are welcome. I really want the Gigabyte GTX 970 because of the look of the card and I think it may be a more stable overclock if I decide to do that later on due to the 6+8 pin power compared to Zotac's 970 with two 6 pin and the ASUS STRIX 970 with its one 8 pin. So I am still debating on which 970 would be best for me and will not clash too much with the motherboard colors. Also thinking about watercooling the CPU and then overclocking that maybe a few months after having it at stock and get some more money. Thank you for your time.
