  1. Alright im currently building a computer that i plan to game on either the new asus ultrawide 3440x1440 g-sync monitor or the acer version. Now because of the cost of the monitors i only have about $2000 i can spend on the computer. i was planning on going with a single 980ti but with the intention to upgrade to dual sli later down the road. but that may be a little while. as for the type of gaming im not really hardcore but tend to play a little of everything casually.(cs:go,Witcher 3, The division, rainbow six, mmo's like elder scrolls, eve online, wow, free to plays, mobas. Pretty much anything i can find to play. some damanding some not.) Now my question is with a single 980ti, i say single because i may be up to a year before i can get another 980ti, will i be able to play these game comfortable at decent setting. example medium to high no aa. and average atleast 60 fps and not drop below 40? i have been playing games at about 60fps average for awhile now on my current build at 1080, and get headache when im playing fps and the frames drop below 50. im trying to figure out if i should try and move things around and get the second card now or not?
  2. Hey, Let me start by saying I appreciate the help on my last post. but felt my format was poor so am revising it. For starters this build it aiming to be able to game on the new asus or acer predator ultrawide gaming monitors. also i need to keep the price right at $2000 give a $100 up or down. I have build a pc in the past but feel i made mistakes in my choice of hardware. so this time i wanted to get others ideas. Also i live in the united states, Georgia and unfortantly i will have to order all my stuff online becuase we do not have any major computer stores within a 100miles of my house.(microcenter,NCIX, ect.) So shipping is a thing. Second i prefer to order everything from the same merchant as its usually easier on the shipping and handling. Alright straight to the build then i will explain why i choose everything. PCPartPicker part list: http://pcpartpicker.com/p/zYPhWZ Price breakdown by merchant: http://pcpartpicker.com/p/zYPhWZ/by_merchant/ CPU: Intel Core i7-6700K 4.0GHz Quad-Core Processor ($413.99 @ Newegg) CPU Cooler: Corsair H110i GT 113.0 CFM Liquid CPU Cooler ($105.10 @ Amazon) Motherboard: MSI Z170A GAMING M5 ATX LGA1151 Motherboard ($162.98 @ Newegg) Memory: G.Skill Ripjaws V Series 16GB (2 x 8GB) DDR4-2133 Memory ($67.99 @ Newegg) Storage: Samsung 850 EVO-Series 500GB 2.5" Solid State Drive ($157.99 @ Newegg) Storage: Western Digital BLACK SERIES 3TB 3.5" 7200RPM Internal Hard Drive ($149.89 @ OutletPc) Video Card: MSI GeForce GTX 980 Ti 6GB Video Card ($623.00 @ Amazon) Case: Corsair Air 540 ATX Mid Tower Case ($124.99 @ Amazon) Power Supply: EVGA 850W 80+ Gold Certified Fully-Modular ATX Power Supply ($119.99 @ Amazon) Total: $1922.93 Alright now for my rational breakdown. Feel free to correct me on anything. I know i dont know everything. Well The cpu was easy seeing as skylake just released I felt it has the most future proofing, while also allowing me to use ddr4 memory. the cooler i went with becuase i know corsair makes good AIO, but have also heard good things about the kraken but was uncertain with or not it is better, The reason i went with the 280mm rad rather then the cheaper 240mm was because both will fit but i like a snugger fit and more cooling. The mother board was another easy choise i like msi and i like their mother boards this has sli support while also being a high end, not highest but still good. also like the color scheme. memory was a little hard so i just went with G.skills ripjaws. the speed i went with the base 2133 because im not sure if i shoudl get faster or not. still new to over clocking.Storage was easy for me. samsung for me has the best value to performance and size for ssds and WD blacks are great for gaming. the video card again was a no brainer i knew i wanted msi becuase i really like msi afterburner and want to use it as my overclocker software. i do plan to sli in the future but its not in the budget it. The case to be honest i like cube cases and the corsair air to me in the nicest one of that size and value i could find that would fit an atx board. The supply again evga i know had good powersupplys and i know 850w is a good future proof number for sli i know i could probably get away with just a 750 but felt alittle extra head room was needed. Well thats all of it. Please feel free to offer any all suggestion. im not set on any one thing im open to make the best for the dollar build that i can. Just remember i plan to also buy a $1300 ulrawide gaming monitor aswell so please know at most i can go up to $2200 but want to keep it at $2000.
  3. Thanks loads. this helps alot to answer my question.
  4. Could you link the video for me please?
  5. Hmm it would end up being about 6-12 months before i could get the custom water loop. in that case what AIO do you recommend i get and is lowing the powersupply to 750 really going to be enough? pcpartpicker has that build with sli 980ti pulling 712w?
  6. I was thinking about that and the thing is i was thinking of waiting for the AIO and upgrading to a custom water loop later down the roads. special since thermaltake has started putting out really good kits for a good price around 300 to 400. and with a custom water loop i could put my gpu/gpus on it. is that a good idea or should i just go ahead with the AIO? i have a AIO on my current build and while i know you can do over clocking its not as good as a custom water loop right?
  7. Yes i made a cheaper pc that wouldnt have been able to do sli in the future but i changed it to have future sli support. should i push and try and go ahead and get sli?
  8. This is my build im working on to buy with my tax return. i plan to get either the predator or the new asus ultrawide monitor. i would love all suggestions and insight as im still new to pc building. only my second build and i dont want to make the same mistakes i made last time.

  10. Thanks all of you for your quick replay that is what i figured i just wasnt sure if thing like post processing would become more extensive on a ultrawide?
  11. Well let me give you guys a little of the background info. Ill be getting my tax return soon and i plan to build a new computer with it. my current computer is a fx-9590, r9 290x, and i haved a not so great time with it, so im building a skylake computer with a 980ti. the build is about $2000, and i plan on also picking up the new asus ultrawide monitor when it comes out. now to my question. what would power the ultrawide better a i5 or i7? i know the i7 would probably do better but would it be way better. im just trying to cut thing to make the monitor more affordable. would i be better off getting the i7 or would processor not effect it that much?
  12. I would really like the Kova. Mostly because i have been playing mmo's like blade and soul lately and it would be nice to have more bottens on my mouse to set keybinds too. Well love your content keep up the good work.
  13. So im making this post because this is a major problem right now for Elite dangerous but there seems to be alot of people who dont know or dont relize what is actually happening. Please read all of this before commenting and i will be quoting alot from other people but these are people who have done alot of troubleshooting on this game and this is the results. i wont post everything they have said so at the bottem i will post a link to another form post that i highly suggest you read atleast the last 20pages of. Alright for starters let me explain the issue. Right now if you are running windows 10 and have a amd graphics card with any drivers 15.7 or newer and while playing the game inter supercruise(sc) you will almost certainly get massive frame drops. usually you go from constant 60 to 10 or lower in a couple minutes. Supercruise is a huge part of the game its how you get from station to station and planet to plant. and even to different solar systems. This has been going on since the driver updates to 15.7 so about 4 months. They have stated that it is an amd driver issue and that they can do a work around for it. aka pointing the finger of blame on amd so they dont have to face the truth. Now let me explain whats really happening. this has been put off as another amd problem. However Nvidias windows 10 drivers are also having issues just not to the same extant. I have been all over forums and nvidia users who have unlocked their fps also get frame drops when entering sc. now you could say its still amd that because its not as bad that its a natrual decrease. but the truth is the drop is about 50% or more of what your constant fps is. That is not a natural fps drop unless your game is not properly optimised. now What i have seen is that one user in particular has figured out is that there is a thread getting hung up here is he's post ill also leave a link too find all his post about this. He has provided proof and testing for very thing he claims i think he has done more to figure out this problem then even frontire has. https://forums.frontier.co.uk/search.php?searchid=6030033&pp= (Edit: i had to remove the two pic from the quote about because it wouldnt let me post with them there. please go and look at the real post and see them for yourself.) https://forums.frontier.co.uk/showthread.php?t=170946&page=57&p=3147719#post3147719 Now im not saying there aren't problems in amds new drivers everyone knows amd always has some problem. However i dont think they should be getting the blame for this if you look at all the evidence its not just amd. the evidance show that yes amds new drivers have exacerbate the problem, but that the problem was already there. It is so obivious that this is poor optimazation. and yes there is a work around for some people by rolling back to 15.6 or earlier drivers. or just getting of windows 10. but for people who have made the update and are running a fury or a 300 graphics card they are stuck they can do either. yes they could go back to windows 7 but what about people getting know computers. they are completely stuck with out spending money to get windows 7 or 8.1. My point is Frontier just sits there not warning new buyers or even trying to fix this themselfs. they just point at amd every time someone mentions it. im not saying the games bad its a great game but is unplayble with these issues. sc is a huge part of the game. This is the end of my post. I highly suggest you look at the form link i posted and look at what this one user has had to do in is free time instead of playing this game. this guy has done alot and he deserves the attention. but more then that i think we shouldn't let he's hard work go to waste. we need to let everyone know its not an amd problem. It is a god damn frontire problem. so many still think its just amd. Im not saying i want this post to go viral. hell i doubt it will happen but if you read this and you found it informative please please share it. we need this to get out there. we need someone with a voice to find this info and run with it. because just me making this post wont make frontire realise their problem. they need a fire lit under their asses. but that wont happen unless enough poeple start realising that is not amd and that it is them. heres the link to the form post that open my eyes to the truth. i realy suggest you read from page 50 up. https://forums.frontier.co.uk/showthread.php?t=170946. Have a great day to all who read this.
