  1. Since I am not booting with the raid 0 samsung pros, it will not affect the boot time right? Not very familiar with PCIE based options, how do I choose a good PCIE SSD? other than read/ write speeds
  2. My setup : 2 x Samsung 850 Pro SSD giving me a total of 500 GB - I install my OS and games on it. I have try to accomplish 2 things 1. More storage space - Games are getting bigger these days and I want to avoid having to uninstall / reinstall games 2. Faster boot time - I notice that my PC is taking longer to boot than my Alienware laptop, which is running on a 250GB SSD and a single GTX 980m, despite running the same version of windows. Question: what would be a good upgrade option? should I get a PCIE based SSD for OS/ work related softwares and use my 850 Pros to house all my games? I reckon I need another 500 GB for the time being.
  3. Thanks SirCallow. Really good value for money.
  4. Hi LTT, what's the best gaming laptop that I can get for $1300? preferably with 250GB SSD. Need one so that I can play lan with my girl.
  5. Anyone knows a good site where I can find 1440p and 4k wallpapers? I've been using the same few wallpapers for a year now.
  6. What speakers do you recommend for $300?
  7. I have a pair of Edifier 2.1 speakers. Can't remember what the model name was but it cost me about $50. Am looking to upgrade my Audio set up. Have a budget of about $300, I'm stuck between getting a new set of speakers, a DAC or both. Mine is a X99-A motherboard, which I heard is suppose to deliver better quality sound.
  8. Blue doesn't come with 4TB storage, do they?
  9. I'm choosing between the 2 for my 4 TB storage. What specs should I be looking out for when choosing a storage drive? WD black seems to be priced a lot more than seagate.
  10. I really like Portal 2.. Completed the both single player and co-op mode. There isn't a lot of replay value though, once you have all the solutions. Besides, I don't think her on-board graphic can run portal 2. Will give this a try! is this an RPG game?
  11. Hi, Am looking for good Co-op games suitable for couples. Nothing too graphically intensive, must be something that a a Intel HD4400 can manage. Any suggestions? I tried Left 4 dead but it just isn't her type of game.. meaning no FPS/ shooters.
  12. That's a fine build. Also, I like your own personal rig =)
  13. What is the price performance sweet spot for a PC for non gamer ? I have a thread on a build guide sub forum but I don't even know how much I should be spending to begin with. I am not familiar with the lower end product cuz I've never use them before.
  14. I like your build, but is 4GB sufficient for an APU? I'm using 4GB / 16GB of ram now as I am typing this and I only have Google chrome open. How about this? http://pcpartpicker.com/p/Qt4NCJ
  15. Hi all, Am building a PC for my GF and family. I don't know what is the price performance sweet spot for such a PC, I am thinking of a budget of just around hkd $3000 ($380), including monitor, hopefully 1080p is achievable with this tight budget, and a set of keyboard and mouse. OS is not required. I see that a lot of AMD chips are priced quite competitively, but I am not familiar with their naming conventions. I have built about 6 - 7 PCs for my family / friends in the last 2 - 3 years but I have never build an AMD PC. Aim : The PC is shared between my Girlfriend and her parents. Will be use to run Microsoft Office Applications, web browsing and watching dramas/movies. There is no need to build a PC for gaming since I will be building her another one when she move over to my house.
  16. In what scenario does your PC uses that much ram?
  17. @ Oshino Don't think I'll ever need 64GB though, not in the near future. 32GB is more than adequate for future proofing. Since there are no difference in performance, think i'm going w 8 dimms of 4GB ram then. It really does make the rig looks a lot better.
  18. Is there a difference? I'm going to put 32GB of DDR 4 ram into my system. What are the pros and cons of each option?
  19. I am building a skylake rig and am intending to use a mATX form factor since it's smaller. Are there any cases out there that do no come with any 5.25 inch drive bay and at most 1 x 3.5 inch expansion? Am thinking of bit fenix pandora if there isn't a more affordable alternative.
  20. I want to everyone for the response.. I am really impressed at the kind of things I can get with just $1,000 budget. I have been so busy with work (many late nights) that I don't really have time to be looking and comparing prices. Thank you all so much for the effort. Will be shipping the parts in, hopefully build this 6600k rig by end october =)
  21. 1. Budget & Location Amazon.com since I am buying most of the parts online. I am residing in Singapore. 2. Aim General use + gaming will be about 250GB SSD for OS and 1TB for storage. 3. Monitors Single 1080p monitor 4. Peripherals no peripherals needed. 5. Why are you upgrading? Not upgrading, building one for a friend.
  22. This 6 years old laptop belongs to a friend of mine. Specs Intel core 2 duo p8800 @ 2.6 Ghz ( 2 cores, no hyperthreads) 3 GB of ram 500GB of hard disk; GT 210M Don't have the detailed specs now but I'm thinking of replacing the hard disk with an SSD. Not sure if it's worth the money.
  23. Am looking for a mini tower with good air flow to house a GTX 950 and a mATX motherboard. Don't need to have so many drive cages.. 1-2 SSD and 1 3.5 inch drive cage will suffice. Want to have room for radiators if possible. Any recommendations? Edit: no cubes please.
