Ah, I see. Well I thank you very greatly for your reassurance! I definitely feel a lot better about it from what you have told me and what the scan results have given me.

I'd recommend getting the 9700K over the 8700K (if it fits in your budget), especially since you're regardless going to go for a Z390 chipset motherboard.
Also, about the cooler, your old one isn't going to work with your motherboard because it's an entirely different socket. I think you should look into compatible mounting brackets or getting a new one altogether.

EDIT: Nevermind, your cooler is compatible with your motherboard's socket, my bad.

Well, you are completely right. It is called lazy reading on my part. Sorry.
    If you have a 1070 a 9700k is a great match.

    Comparing the 8700k with 6c/12t with the 9700k 8c/8t.
The 8700k is slightly faster in multi threaded workloads and the 9700k has slightly higher single core performance but no hyper threading (first i7 without it). For just gaming I would recommend the 9700k if the 8700k is not significantly cheaper to buy (sometimes you get a nice sale offer).

If you want to OC maybe consider a slightly higher tier Motherboard. The Pro4 is a great value but considering you have a d14 you might want a decent amount of overclocking and a board with better vrms. Someone else in the forum might be better suited to say more about vrm quality / power design of the current z390 generation.

What gpu do you own? Do you already have a ssd? Country is the US I assume?

If you don't need hyperthreading a 9700k might also be a great choice. Also you could get a bit faster ram. Maybe 2666 MHz but that is no must have

Thanks! The RAM I had on there originally is actually $108 from Newegg but for an extra buck why not improve the speed! It doesn't look that aesthetic, but I think I gave up on those when I bought a 1070 with a freaking yellow and silver backplate in a red and black build, ehe.

not to be a dick but.. maybe accept the fact that you're a child and rely on your parents. if they dont buy you something then you dont get it. consider yourself lucky that you have what you already have and dont be spoiled.

that being said, if its actually your money(not just money they gave you or money you think they owe you), then you should be able to do what you want with it.

From that point, do as others said and lay on the down-low about how you were able to afford it. The more I read this thread the more I want to believe you are in fact spoiled.

Ignorance is bliss, and I'd rather not hear about how your parents sacrificed an oven to help you pay for something that's totally overkill for a PERSONAL computer.

good self care is always important and not exclusive to gaming. lots of people die in the office from overtime or stuff like that yet we don't talk about that because it isn't an outlier. shit happens, everybody dies. not that that takes away that we should monitor it but this probably will get used by some people to shame gaming as a whole.

It's a joke in pretty much every part of the world. Here in British Columbia, Canada, you have to do a knowledge test to get your Learners License. Then you have to get 1 year of driving experience in order to take a road test and get your Novice License. After 2 years of safe driving with your N, you can then take another road test to get your full license. Never liked the road tests because it's really just a box ticking exercise. Especially in Metro Vancouver where everyone (yes Asians and local whites alike) drive like idiots so really need to drive a lot to be able to predict the next dumb move another driver makes whether it's oncoming traffic blasting through a yellow when you're left turning, or an oblivious person straddling two lanes.
