  1. Happened across an old Pentax MG 35mm SLR at a thrift shop last evening for $8... couldn't pass it up for that steal of a deal, I've been wanting a decent film camera to kind of tinker with. I couldn't get it to work correctly in the store but it didn't seem like anything was actually broken, just seized from sitting around or what-have-you, figured a bit of a deep clean would help that along. It's a bit rough in places (battery cap is stripped real bad so that needs to be replaced, leather grip is certainly worn...), but I managed to free up the lens release and film advance and somehow even got the shutter to work once or twice with these mystery-aged batteries while screwing with the film advance. I'm excited see if it's actually working properly once I replace the batteries, then I'll just need to find some half-decent film for a half-decent price.
  2. Hey, if it fits it sits ? Just like those block toys - you can force the square block into the circle hole if you try hard enough.
  3. Rear end grease is absolutely disgusting, though at least I have the luxury of being able to work on it all outside at my home. I've had the misfortune of smelling the stuff multiple times this past summer, all because of seized or otherwise destroyed gears. Found out the rear end housing was actually bent after the 3rd seizure when we found the carrier wouldn't even sit properly in the housing once the bearing caps were tightened. Ruined 3 perfectly fine and very difficult to come by sets of gears. Pinions turn into a half-eaten ice cream cone. ?
  4. No, not anymore. It used to be for sure, and I still make most of my decisions in upgrading it under the presumption that I will be gaming, though I've neither had the time nor the drive to game very much recently. I do still play games, especially on the weekends, but my PC is mostly used for university work and vegging out on YouTube.
  5. Hopefully the fact that I don't use Twitter too much won't matter. @MrAnthology, https://twitter.com/MrAnthology
  6. I've got a Phenom II x6 1090t right now, this would be an amazing upgrade considering I've been thinking about moving to an Intel platform recently anyway. Twitter status, @MrAnthology: https://twitter.com/MrAnthology/status/318140910259023872
