DJ_Deedahx reacted to LogicalDrm in If an HDD fails, what happens to your OS?
With Retail copy, yes. In my knowledge. OEMs are different since they are intended for prebuilds and system builders.

DJ_Deedahx got a reaction from flibberdipper in Having problem with I7-4790k on asus z97 pro
Well, I think that's the problem. Prime95 "overvolts your CPU" <- @tmcclelland455
Therefore, most of us here do not recommend it.

If it was my case, then... no. Adsense is not supported where I am located right now (Haiti). I made the jump and went with Fullscreen, which is coincidentally the network that LinusTechTips is partnered with
Also, my tech channel has 5 subscribers. That's it.

DJ_Deedahx got a reaction from simon253 in What's the difference between all these Xeon E5s? Which is better and why?
Intel Xeon CPUs are not very well overclockable as far as I know...

DJ_Deedahx got a reaction from cesrai in Fm2 and Fm2+
You said that already...
On topic: Linus clearly states FM2+ APUs/CPUs are not backwards compatible with FM2 motherboards, whereas FM2 APUs/CPUs will work just fine with FM2+ motherboards. (Source: AMD Kaveri Build Guide video)

DJ_Deedahx reacted to xToFxREAPER in I am tired of everyone claiming "6 cores do nothing for games," and tired of hearing "you only need 8 gigs of ram."
Man watching everyone try and defend the "you only need 4 cores and 8gb's stance" is pathetic. You can have any opinion you want about what you need and what you dont for gaming these days. That statement is so ignorantly close minded that it disgusts me.
You need to account for background programs.. chrome.. winamp.. other games.. bloatware you might have been stupid enough to install.. anti virus... There are so many factors surrounding that statement of only needing 4 cores and 8gb's of memory.
Myself... I usually have between 5 and 10 pages open in chrome along with winamp and whatever game im running plus whatever programs i left open. You are more then welcome to argue that i would do fine with a 4 core cpu and 8gb's of ram but i know damn well the system would choke considering the kind of settings i push.
@ is very right. So many forum members throw that statement around like its set in stone but when there are so many factors to consider then we have a problem. I know damn well i wouldnt be running the setup i do if i took their advice and bought "whats needed" for gaming these days.

DJ_Deedahx got a reaction from benzeam in AMD Needs to hurry
As an AMD "fanboy" (I started to prefer them over time), if only they could have support for DDR4, get on 22nm, have more power-efficient cores, and also... the FX line is still great but old... also, why not FX2 now.

Same here... Ugh. The YouTube commenters out there are honestly a bunch of trolls!

DJ_Deedahx reacted to samcool55 in can a r9 285 crossfire?
I understand your confusion and it depends on which order they are plugged in, the top pci-e will always run at 16x if there is no other pci-e device, if there is another pci-e device it will run at 8X
The middle one will run at 16X if there is no other pci-e device(read note), run at 4X if there is a pci-e device in the top one, or 4X if there is a pci-e device in the lowest one
the lowest pci-e device will always run at 4X
note: the middle pci-e slot will only run if the slot iself has all the pins of a 16X pci-e slot, it is quite common the middle slot is only wired for 8X. So even if it can run theoretically 16X, there is a chance only 8 laes are wired and the other 8 lanes don't have pins to connect.
So if you have 2 780's in top and middle slot, and a pci-e device in the lowest one. Top 780 runs at 8X, middle 780 at 4X and pci-e device 4X.

CPU: AMD FX 4300 would do very well, though!

RAM: Uhh, do you mean DDR3-1600 or DDR3-1333?
100 posts yay

DJ_Deedahx got a reaction from I/O in This is how it's done !
FIX 1: (0:21) o rly?
FIX 2: (0:39) Did anyone notice how he was handling that AMD CPU?! What the hell was PC Perspective thinking!?
FIX 3: (1:58) INSTALLING A CPU, for crying out loud, SHOULD NOT REQUIRE THAT MUCH PRESSURE! That's the actual proof that not only the sockets, but the CPUs are completely different! Seriously, you could have watched @LinusTech install an AMD A10-6790K (Ultimate AMD Value Build) very carefully into its proper socket, because he knows what he is talking about.
FIX 4: (2:47) *sigh*
FIX 5: (3:17) At least he didn't mess up there.
FIX 6: (3:44) It's just not functioning... at all.
What was PCper thinking...

An ASRock 990FX Killer has USB 3.0 headers.

DJ_Deedahx reacted to Lotus in Clarification on 1st Gen Core i7
Yes. Actually it's recommended to run at least DDR3-1600 because those i7s use BCLK overclocking, which overclocks everything including the memory. It's not hard to hit those speeds with a reasonable overclock.
Remember though that the first generation i7s like the i7-920 are on the X58 platform and so use triple-channel memory, so buy sticks in sets of 3, not 2, and make sure you populate the right slots.

DJ_Deedahx got a reaction from Enderman in AMD's answer to Nvidia's 970 and 980
I personally do not like AMD products (especially graphics cards) because of their TDP. Although they are great for their performance and a good bang for the buck, this would not be the brand for me. I live in a place where power outages are VERY common, and I wouldn't like my parents yelling at me for draining my generator's fuel just because AMD has a crazy TDP.
