  1. Alright guys so I took it to a shop and it turns out the board is fully dead. They told me they would contact HP and get me a price estimate with there "discounts" however they want $99 to diagnose my components which are all working, besides the motherboard lol. I went online again and did some more digging, I found the correct replacement motherboard for $216 however I don't know if the CPU/GPU are soldered to the motherboard. Does anybody know if they are indeed soldered? I'll be buying and fixing it my self regardless but I need to know if I'll have to buy a new CPU/GPU as well as the motherboard. Here's the Model Number: C2M16UA Motherboard Part Number: 682180-501 Computer Model: HP Envy DV6-7245us I found the new board on SpareParts Warehouse.
  2. I actually had the battery pack and the charger out for a good hour while I went to take a shower.
  3. So this system usually idles, if I had to take a guess, around 40F. Right now once a power source is connected the CPU seems to be heating up fairly fast, the air being vented out is much warmer than room temp so I'd guess its around 65-70F. I have no clue why its doing this now, as far as I know the Artic Silver Ceramique 2 is higher quality than the old paste which was also worn away. This is my first time changing thermals since I got this comp 3 years ago. Anybody else have some ideas, let me know. Thanks .
  4. Alright so I just did that ^^ and nothing changes however the if there is any power source going into the system whether it be the battery or charger, the computer starts up in a vegetated state. The CPU runs, the fan runs, and the side power light comes on. I couldn't hear the fans before but they do turn on the second a power source connects.
  5. So I stuck the battery pack in and now the little power light on the side of the system is one constantly. The actual system is off, to my knowledge, the fans are off, no sounds, no other lights etc. Once I plug in the DC Adapter in no longer enables the sound and fans however it just charge the battery. Not sure where else to go from here, I'll try to take the adapter and battery pack off and drain the charge, let you guys know what happens.
  6. Alright, so here's a quick rundown of the current situation: When I would connect my DC Adapter beforehand, I would just get the connection light and nothing would happen. I've disconnected and reconnected the RTC battery and now once the DC Adapter is connected I get a little boot up sound from the motherboard, my connection lights comes on and the fans turn on however it does this instantly even after disconnecting and reconnecting the adapter. Another weird thing is that it appears that either the CPU or GPU is functioning in some form because the air being vented out of the system is being heated up. The power button does not work, I haven't connected the battery yet so this is where I'm at now.
  7. If they decide to go with a 16-core, 24-thread CPU that would still beat Intel's new i7-5960K.
  8. The DC Adapters connection light is on and the fans are actively running.
  9. I'm using just the DC Adapter atm without the battery, what should I do now?
  10. Holy shit, I did the RTC thing and I got sounds and fans running but nothing else.
  11. I found the HP page with all the parts however I cannot find this specific motherboard. Its the AMD A10-4600M+7660G APU. Its not listed on the webpage however. If you look up "HP Envy DV6 Series" an HP .PDF manual loads in the results, its about 130 pages long but the motherboards are on page 3 or 4. I can't find this board listed so I have no idea what the replacement cost is.
  12. I know its not the DC Jack or Adapter because the adapter wasn't plugged in when the arc happened, and now when I plug it in the battery light comes on. This particular laptop has a light that comes on whenever the DC adapter is connected.
  13. Heres two more screens, they were over 2MB's so http://m.imgur.com/RJrHFUv,5b3xs35
  14. I have a Volt-Ohms Meter but its not at my house currently.
  15. The teeth on the keyboard connector are bent down and I was trying to fix them when I accidentally touched the screwdriver to the board. I'm also missing the clasp for the power connector
