SImoHayha got a reaction from da na in Is it worth to buy the SAS adapter to use SAS drives for durability?
I have SAS drives. Though it was by accident and I really couldn't return them and said screw it. You're gonna need a SAS controller, SAS to SATA adapter cables for the SAS controller and of course SAS Drives.

If you're gonna get SAS drives, they generally are "cheaper" for more storage. you can find 4TB SAS drives for 40$, depending on where you shop. So 80$ for 8TB of storage compared for SATA. But of course you need a controller + cables and all that. Especially used SAS drives are even significantly cheaper.

70C is the issue. That CPU is extremely hot + old it's not designed to go above 61C

I would get a aftermarket CPU cooler that can handle 150 TDP OR MORE ASAP!! or at least the 125 TDP. I would currently limit the CPU to 4.0GHZ current to lower the temperature a tad bit more.

they were probably already on the verge of dying and you repasting them didn't really do anything. honestly you running those cards at 80/90s probably accelerated the damage of them.

If you don't have the OG box. Find a box that fits the GPU size/length/cut to length. Add bubble wrap on bottom or foam or whatever, multiple layers here.  Then for the GPU itself, wrap the GPU in bubble wrap. wrap around with some painters tape so it holds it together.

SImoHayha got a reaction from Eigenvektor in Does Textures only affact VRAM or it affects RAM as well
if you run outta VRAM, then some RAM is used.  You can see this in some lower end machines, that RAM is taken up if VRAM is low.

I don't think you need a 1200$ laptop for dentist school. what exactly are you doing with it? You can easily get a 500$ laptop that does the job of a 1200$ and then some than drop 1200$. Personally I go with the classics such as Dell, HP and Lenovo. Each of them provide a pretty solid laptop for 500$ including some sales you can get effective laptops for cheap.

If you're just using it for regular average joe things, such as browsing, some word/office/powerpoint 500$ is pretty acceptable considering today's CPU's.

however AFAIK there isn't android/windows integration for each other. Sure you can use some android apps on windows, but just recently they dropped support for it just recently so that's out of the picture.

In fact there are some sales on HP from what I can see for substantial savings. even for 2 n 1s  which you might benefit from. 2n1's combine the tablet + laptop in one form.

In general for Laptops....Intel wise stick with CPU's that state i3,i5,i7. AMD CPU's stick with Ryzen 3, 5 and 7. 8GB RAM bare minimum if more that's great. and at least 256 GB SSD.

IT's not gonna matter anyway. People already have the source code backed up, and all that jazz. People just gonna "bring out another emulator clone" called like Switcher or something along the lines of Mango Emulator or whatever, and nintendo aint gonna be able to do jack shit about it cause they can't prove anything. Change up a few things, and tada new emulator up and running w/o issue.

    Summary

CNET, once considered one of the major technology-focused news outlets, has been heavily criticized for falling editorial standards since it's acquisition by Red Venture in 2020. After years of dealing with AI-generated articles and other "advertiser-driven" decisions, Wikipedia's editors have had enough and are removing CNET from their list of reliable publishers and are categorizing any article published since November 2022 as unreliable. Some editors are going further and pushing to have content from any outlet owned by Red Venture automatically marked as unreliable

IDK what you're trying to do exactly. But if you're just an average joe....but you already have internet cables hooked up to each room, which is great. I would pour all of the connections into a un-managed switch connect Modem to switch which supports 1000 MBPS (1gig ) to distribute  internet for cheap let the dumb switch do it's thing. Then for WIFI get a router that supports 1GIB internet then, just get a set up a few in main areas. One in the living room. Then one in the hallway/towards bed room areas and call it a day.

1200 SQ feet isn't all that big, and doesn't require a whole lot of expensive gear.

if you search for deals/steals + buy a used switch or a cheapo budget switch that handles 1000 MBPS you're golden, then the same with the routers with ports that can handle/use 1000 MBPS you're good. Maybe in total if you can find deals 300$? Maybe cheaper 200? Or you can go cheaper with the wifi routers and have them support like 500 MBPS or 300 MBPS much cheaper but wifi speeds will be slower.

I understand he asked for "Microsoft/Windows " software but in reality windows allows you to install any software you want/require.  And since you're using Windows, you can just find the software you want/require in this case I listed some software he can use because he's using windows. Simple as that.

just buy a normal cooler like everyone else. Or just if you need to dIY a cooling solution make copy the numerous other cooling fans or something/concepts that exist.

SImoHayha got a reaction from Joshua420 in random speed decreases with tp-link range extender
it depends. Is it hardwired as in it's plugged in with an internet cable Or is it just repeating a wifi signal?

If it's repeating a wifi signal, then it will be slower and speed will decrease because it will repeat the same weak signal and when it's also being in use it will continue to deteriorate further. It's better if it's hardwired.

Sell the RAM and SSDs seperately.

Sell the "body" with CPU and motherboard as well.
Not sure about testing, but just boot it up really and see if it boots and check some settings that's really about it.

You might need to read a manual real quick but it should offer how to boot into the device and all that jazz and set it up.

But honestly sell the DDR4 ram sticks in pairs or singles, make dough like that, SSDs can also be sold individually. Price them approritately like 60 or 70$ a piece or something along those lines.

SImoHayha got a reaction from Eigenvektor in why am i stuck on below 100mb/s?
IT's most likely the current router you have doesn't support gigbit speed. You can check this via googling your model number and checking what the WAN/LAN connections are. if hte LAN connections are just 100 speed then you're stuck at 100MBPS period.

IF you need a new router, you can usually go the used route it'll be cheaper overall.

Add some Decals or stickers + spray paint really. That's all you need.

Two tone paint colors are always a nice touch or, just a solid nice color. Maybe take some inspiration from the PSP festival series, where it was bright expressive colors.

go to your network adapter > properties > configure , and find/adjust the speed of the adapter to full duplex or change the speed in one of the options to 1GB/s or something along those lines or 10/100 or 100/1000  something along that in order to reach max potential speed. It could be the the adapter is configured wrongly

here is an image of what i'm talking about. In your case select the 1.0 GBPS full duplex

you should stick with known manufactures when it comes to USB wifi's like TP-link,Belkin, Linksys, Netgear etc. It sounds like your current wifi card is broken. If anything have you tried plugging it into the back of the motherboard to supply more power? I know some USB wifi cards don't really like being put into extenders unless it's a USB3.0 port which can provide more power.

They have better standards and lack of issues.

according to this means a POST failure. Either CPU, GPU or RAM or PSU is poofed. So try on stick of RAM, if you can, reinstall any GPUs, maybe test the PSU and with another one if you got it and see if it works.

when did it stop working? or was it like this when you got it? When was the last time it was working order?

I would do Pagefile on SSD or NVME. Faster in general, some testing has shown that it has increased low end FPS 1%.  Over HDDs. Remember page file isn't used until all RAM is used up so you won't run into constant write issues. I would just put it on the SSD, cause it's faster over HDD period.
