    Can we please just get phones with basic thinks like a 35mm audio jack, decent battery and such? What if I need to charge my phone and want to listen to my music?

    CPU is socket so can be changed, GPU 1 is soldered onto the MB, GPU 2 sits in what they call their ultra bay so it is an entirely separate unit. Upgrading to one of those instead of a DVD player or HD does mean you also need to upgrade your PSU to a 170W unit Anyhow bit of a headache so nothing done yet.

    Felt at least 1 of the fans going, but the keyboard I guess is cable not fitting properly. However it is german unit so really would not mind replacing that with a qwerty board. For now external keybaord works. Seeing the original owner no longer knew his PW and I cannot be bothered to fight windows 8 atm, I dropped in an old windows 7 drive I had from an BTO unit. So once I get the drivers going I will see if the fans are still not wanting to work. Once that is done and all is fine I will see what sourcing a screen cable and/or screen would cost me. Heck if the screen proves to be fine after all they tend to still be sell able as parts anyway if I end up with 2. Anyhow tomorrow be the day I will work on it again At least I know the GPUs and CPU work so that is the most expensive parts covered

    That be cheaper to fix than the screen itself That said just saw it didn't spin the fans, uch I am starting to regret buying this thing, but it is a good learning experience

    Nope, as I said connect it to an external screen and it is all fine and dandy

    Picture is a bit bad, but you get the idea, this is the screen on a Lenovo Y500. The effects you can see clearly here are still present when it boots to windows where it does show a full screen, but these effects are still present in the background. This model has the SLI GT650, the original MB was fried due the use of an incorrect charger. I brought the Laptop, a refurbished MB and new charger. Installed the new MB (first time for anything I guess) and now I am greeted with this. I opened it up again, I cannot see any visible damage on the cable, but that is not saying much of course. I tested it on an external screen through HDMI and that gives me an OK result, so I fear the screen might have had it. So I am hoping faintly that it might be something else because a screen replacement will push the budget on this little project

    Lawl like there was even a reason left to want to buy this game, at least for sure now their aint. I mean I am not against them trying to get their own store going, steam needs some better competition without question, but they put to many silly restrictions on it. For fucks shake I am paying for the product give me the product and let me use it the way I want for I bloody own it!

    Reuse is always better than recycling for every phone that gets a new lease on life it means an other phone does not have to be produced. While it might seem odd and bashing apple is a favorite past time of many including myself, but this is a sensible move, I just wish they would do it in more places. Until than I use this argument a lot at work when I find things in the recycling bins I can use or fix up, that way I can take it home for free and make sure it gets used again. Anyhow still would not buy an Iphone ever, cannot work with apple devices they drive me nuts.

    I really don't have a problem with the idea of paid mods, the point lies as others have noted where the money goes to, At least 50-60% should go to the creator the rest the platform and publisher can fight over. As for which mods deserve money and which don't let the market sort it out, if people see value they can pay, if they don't they can pass.

    Normal work day my one plus last me easily landing me at 60% at the end of the day. Heavy use day, I sure need that powerbank I got from them cause I can run my phone dry twice. Frankly perhaps I should just get the old nokia's from the drawer and forget this smartphone stuff until they can make something proper. The only thing I would really miss would be my deezer for music streaming.

    I don't get all the fear over AI, it is still based on logic and 1 and 0 nothing that can truly compare to the human brain. As for Androids I don't see them as a bad thing or scary as long as if they would truly be intelligent we treat them as such, most of the science fiction AI rebellions are due the same reasons humans rebel: Oppression.

    I do think it is past due that this so called press get's reeled on this so called news on the lives of individuals. I will however miss Jalopnik and it's attached things, but as always things will move on one way or the other. I just hope this is a fair warning to all, next you want to gets tapes out go after the government or big business for example, they do a lot more wrong stuff which we should care about.

    Toying with this GTX 980 (EVGA SC nvidia style cooler), bugger is at 76.4, but awfully unstable, but I am not sure how much I want to push voltage just yet, there has to be more to this card I say. Nice thing about these 980s is that they stay nice and cool at 52C with +120 core, +100mem atm not to bad .

    Vote with your wallet, money is the only damn thing companies care about, don't like them, don't give them your hard earned cash and just tell them to stick it where the sun don't shine.

    Welp might have to push my CPU past it's max volts and past 95C to get it running on 5.0Ghz for this one again (3770k under water)

    Pretty much and if they can produce and sell Hynix still gets money cause they developed the stuff. Beside before the new gen cards are widely available it will be Q4 earliest looking at past launches and also the fact that these cards promise a lot and if they deliver demand will be high.

    Old news this, been the case with so many finger print sensors, as soon as you can lift a decent enough print you can touch it up, print it out and use it.

    Nope, hence I am asking if it could be anything else. The card is still under warranty, but a defective HDMI port is not a big deal seeing DVI works just as fine on 1080p 60.

    As I said DVI works just peachy Works just fine on HMDI, was using that while waiting for the 980 to arrive Perhaps explain which control panel and which settings. We have the monitor itself, windows stuff and I bet Nvidia has something hidden in their mess of a driver to. Cause you know just because we know things it does not mean we know everything, unless you encountered a problem before there is no sense in believing one should know how to fix it.

    Only got 1, but as I said it was working just fine less then 10 hours ago with the Fury-x before I took it out.

    Did not touch the monitor settings at all, but did put them back to factory, however if it was an issue on the monitor it should show up regardless of which input I use iirc.

    Jep full game ready package straight from Nvidia with a clean install even though I killed all other drivers

    Just wondering I just got my delivery of the GTX 980 I traded for my Fury-x (got some cash to of course). However when I plug my monitor in through HDMI the colors are all washed out, black is just grey etc. When I plug in my DVI everything is just peachy. HMDI cable should be fine as I used it with my Fury-X without issue, could it be the HDMI port on the card is busted or could it be something else?
