Nobody bashes CCleaner. Because there's nothing to bash. it just does its job. It's not like antivirus software where it nags you that your Free Trial is About to Expire! Upgrade to Premium Now! It just finds errors in your registry, chews them up, spits them out, and goes about its day. Doesn't get in the way and there's no flashy nonsense. You can even use it to zero out mounted drives. 99% of the problems people have with their computers even after deleting malicious programs come from the gobs of errors that are left behind in the registry.

The issue your having with 100% disk activity actually relates to the upgrade from 8.0 to 8.1 and was a known problem affecting quite a few users on launch.
And yes disabling the page file when you have enough ram is good. It quickens up the whole responsiveness of your computer.
You just recently reinstalled windows correct? The best action then would be to straight install 8.1 instead of 8.0 and then upgrade to 8.1 as you will not be able to encounter that error. If you would like to try and fix it generally that error is due to drivers that are incompatible with 8.1 and are still being used after the upgrade. you might be able to find out a bit more with a bit of research. From what ive seen though there is no 100% definitive fix for it.

There are tangible benefits to running with no page file. The main one being that windows doesnt throw programs it deems to be idle on disk even though you have more than enough ram free. Basically it improves the responsiveness of your system.
Win 8 is only optimized when it copmes to RAID, TRIM,and defraging. Heck Win7 Sp1 is almost as good if thats all you interested in. This was mainly gained when support for UEFI was added at the OS level. Win8 does do a better job though as it has tighter UEFI integration.

Dont know just read what I wrote above and keep an eye on your disk activity VS what is actually going on like the transfer rate.

Oh you didn't mention it was causing it to hang Yea disabling the page file is a bad idea, you'll note in that list they say to off-load it to a HDD not disable it completely even so its an unnecessary step that was thought up in the early days of SSDs.
I think these days if your windows is up-to-date you shouldn't have to do any optimisations for SSDs as the updates have taken care of that, only back when 32GB drives cost $200 was manual intervention necessary.

Something like that really shouldn't be needed.
When a GPU is not being used it automatically goes into a low power idle state.
I would honestly be shocked if the difference over a year between having your GPU be disabled when you are away vs letting it idle was more and a couple bucks, and I feel I'm being very generous with that even.

An AVR power plug is just a pass-through, it does nothing to the power. Same with a surge protector.
If your home has inconsistent power, you should immediately get that fixed by an electrician or you could have a fire hazard.

A UPS will 100% solve the problem though, if you want to take that route. I still recommend getting your electrical system inspected ASAP.

Ummm.... M.2 is only really used for SSDs AFAIK. Your laptop's wifi chip is most likely Mini PCI-E.

The reason the two look similar is that the mini-pci slot is similar to the M.2, but I am not sure 1) they're bios/controller compatible, or 2) they're physically compatible. There have been "M.2" looking slots for a long time, basically just tied in off the PCI or PCIE bus, but until recently no bios supported booting from them (not sure whether it was chipset or bios compatability). I doubt you're going to fry it, but you'll have to get the mini antenna adapters etc...

Monitors will have much lower lag if you are into competitive twitch gaming, but an LED tv could work fine.
    You may want to invest in a smaller monitor (25"-27") for twitch gaming (low lag), and then a second 32"-36" tv for media (lag doesnt matter for media);
Depending on your system and financial capabilities.

Picture quality will be comperable between the two, well, Hisense isnt very well regarded (hint, if you cant find the company mentioned by top reviewers, well, thats
probably your answer on how good it is...), but a movie will look the same on a monitor vs a tv of the same size and resolution.

The difference you are really asking about here is lag.
Personally, you will have this for a long time so I would save an extra $100 and get a good 32" monitor if you can find one, then get a cheapo
set of speakers. You are talking 4-8ms lags on monitors vs 44-100ms lags on tvs, if you are into competitive twitch play you will notice lag that big.

    on the TV side,
Vizio is a great budget LED tv brand. They make budget friendly tvs that are generally pretty good in terms of PQ (picture quality) for the money,
and their 60" E-series even took home CNETS recomendation for best TV of 2013 for its PQ/price value (60" for <$1000).

    Hope this helps,

Check here if your display is one here. Are you using a mous and keyboard to game? Do you play a lot of shooters? If not then anything over 30ms is unacceptable. If you only use a controller then maybe you could get by. Avoid everything with 40ms and over.
I tried my mothers 50" plasma and it was horrible, the input lag was unbearable. Can't find information on it's measured input latency.

    Hello guys,

I'm having a hard time choosing a 4k monitor. Could you link me the best 4k monitor with g-sync or none. I'm not even sure either if I need a g-sync one. They cost about $200-400 more. I also wanna know if I need that G-sync for my rig or if its better to have one even if I don't.

    heres my rig:

Asus Rampage IV Black Edition EATX DDR3 2133 Intel LGA 2011 Motherboard
    Intel Core i7-4930k Processor
    Gigabyte GTX 980 G1 4GB 256-Bit GDDR5

Without the 'Game mode' profile on my 55" TV it's HUGELY noticeable and basically for myself, unplayable. Huge delays (I'm talkin BF3/4 here, accurate shooting/aiming+speed to aim is pretty key to having an enjoyable experience)
But it's pretty bad, with Game mode profile enabled, it's playable, but not overly comfortable (at least on my TV, their all gunna be different to a degree)
I can get by playing most games in Game mode, but not those fast paced shoot em ups.

    Monitor FTW unless watching Media

Think of a wireless mouse, on low batteries, and the delay between action and movement is noticeable, that effect is very similar to what my TV does without Game mode on.
(With game mode on, less of a thing, still can see it though, imagine 250-350ms down to 100ms or something) <-- thats what it feels/looks like.

Windows 10 is in testing at the moment with its technical preview that anyone can download. This preview currently has a key logger bundled with it to help Microsoft improve it. But this also means that, if you were to install it and use it as your main OS, any personal info you typed or bank details that you typed would be sent to Microsoft. That's why at the moment Microsoft is encouraging people to not install it on their main PC but on a test PC or VM.
So, with all that said, your best bet would be to install Windows 8.1 right now until Microsoft Windows 10 is released to the public sometime next year. I hope that this helps you out. Good luck mate!
