  1. Yeah it's very weird, I checked the proxies and nothing's been set. There are 2 DNS IP addresses but I think they're default, it's funny because if it was OS level, wouldn't it affect the virtual machine too. Unless I'm just unlucky that Safari and Chromium aren't working on Internet Explorer is HAHA!!
  2. Hey guys, I'm trying to use a website openlearning.com, however, it doesn't seem to load in any browser (Safari/Chrome) in my MacBook running MacOS Sierra. In desperation, I booted up VMWare fusion with Windows 10 and the website loads fine, so what the heck is going on? OS level setting that needs to be cleared? How is VMWare bypassing this Any leads to the right direction greatly appreciated! Regards, YoshiHDify
  3. Rocking a GTX 970 right now. Honestly I'd just love to try an AMD graphics card, especially an efficient one. Also dx12 might allow dual gpu with my 970 one day hehe.
  4. Thank you for your reply! I ran Furmark with HWMonitor and all motherboard temps that can be detected are normal. It also froze at about 5 minutes. This computer will freeze playing casual games and browsing internet such as YouTube as well. It doesn't freeze as predictably though. All BIOS settings have been restored to factory defaults, this system has been running on them for 3 years with no problems. One other note though, I have run this computer with a different (600W) power supply to power everything and it still freezes. However, when I used my GTX 970 with the 600W power supply in this system (on its CPU, motherboard, ram, etc.) it seems to not freeze. This is getting really confusing for me Regards, YoshiHDify
  5. Hey LTT community! I have got a freezing issue nearly nailed down but would just like a second opinion. Issue: Freezing, this is highly repeatable! Boot up Windows, run Furmark and it'll hard freeze (no sound) between 1 to 3 minutes in. *Another (less repeatable) way is to play Overwatch, it freezes generally between 1 to 2 games. Pressing reset on case reboots computer after a good pause and it will reboot then freeze again anywhere between post to Windows login (Exactly once). But this time it shuts down shortly by itself. This is highly repeatable. Starting up computer again afterwards will successfully boot into Windows. Testing: 1. Graphics card (GTX 680) swapped out with a GTX 970. - Same freezing occurs in Overwatch but Furmark seems to get further (past 12 minutes) 2. Memory ran through 6.5hrs of memtest86 (almost 3 passes) with 0 errors. Also swapped out 4x4GB kit with single 2GB stick. - Same freezing, no difference. 3. Power supply (Corsair 750W) is a newly replace part that is less than half a year old. Swapped out GTX 680 with GTX 970 (lower power consumption) and used a secondary power supply to power 1 of the 6-pins in the 970. (To further reduce load) - Same freezing, no difference. *Insufficient power to a graphics card causes the screen to artefact/freeze but right now it seems to just freeze on the desktop like a screenshot. 4. BIOS had CMOS reset, then later updated to latest BIOS version. - CMOS reset allowed system to run fine ONCE! >40 minutes of Furmark and playing Overwatch for 2 games at the same time. But after restart, went back to freezing. 5. Windows reinstalled with a fresh copy of Windows 10. Computer was running Windows 10 previously before it started freezing. - No difference 6. NVidia drivers (older versions from January 2016) clean reinstalled - No difference Full system details: INTEL i5-3570K Corsair Vengeance 16GB 1600Mhz ASUS Z77 Sabertooth ASUS GTX 680 CORSAIR CM750 Final Note: The system appears to never freeze when running in integrated graphics mode with discrete card removed. My hunch:?? The motherboard is beginning to fail? or (I think highly unlikely power supply). Sorry for long post guys, spent 2 days trying to figure this stupid thing out... Thanks in advance for reading! Regards, YoshiHDify
  6. Okay so the noise stops when I tilt the pc about 15 degrees
  7. HAHA! Well technically the CPU never reached TJmax. I am concerned about having to replace a $150 cooler though
  8. Hey guys, I did something pretty stupid... I ran my PC for a good hour just doing some web surfing WITHOUT a powered H100 pump! (The reason why it's not powered is because I played around with my molex cables whilst trying to work with IDE hard drives.) It was when my PC started feeling slow and I pulled up CoreTemp to my horror to see 103C on all CPU cores I remembered. I quickly plugged in the molex without turning the computer off and the temps plummeted to 40s but then I noticed something... My H100 is making a rattling noise a little bit like a hard drive during seek. Did I destroy my H100 pump by having boiling coolant in it for the hour? Could it be air bubbles or heat damage. Regards, YoshiHDify
  9. Unfortunately not, there is only one PCIe slot in this motherboard. Even tried resetting the BIOS to no avail.
  10. Replaced PSU with Corsair 650W. SAME result. Put GTX970 in HP, boots. Put HD7870 in HP, no boot. Put HD7870 in another PC, boots. What the hell is going on?
  11. Thing is my other PSU is actually in another system, which has all the cables zip tied. I actually moved that entire computer up next to the HP to troubleshoot. That's why I'm reluctant to move everything. That being said I do believe that if the 500W PSU can power everything with a low end card it should hold its own when it's powering no gpu (when I have all the auxiliary pcie power supplied from another PSU) all it had to do was power the pcie lane. I originally was suspecting the PSU and in a way still am. But it seems as though people here are pretty certain that's the fault? If so I will just buy a new PSU and save some hassle.
  12. But when I jumped the power from another PSU to try power the 7870 and it still wont post.
  13. Hi all, I have a computer that suddenly won't post. It had worked for a while already. The computer is an upgraded old HP pavilion desktop that's about 4 years old. The only things that are still stock is the cpu i5-750 the case and the motherboard. All Ram replaced now running 2x4gb + 2x2gb (12gb) total. Gpu replaced to hd7870 Psu replaced to aywun 500w Things I troubleshooted: GPU works in another pc PSU should be sufficient as I jumped the power from another pc to power the 7870 and it still won't post RAM should be fine see below What makes the pc post: Replacing the Gpu with a low end passive nvidia card ... So ram is ok?? These characteristics are repeatable. I'm really confused as to what the issue might be. Any ideas guys? Thanks in advance, Harry
  14. Might be a driver issue now that you mention it, the drive just comes up with "please insert bootable media" error when I try to boot. Thanks for these tips, ill give them all a shot.
  15. Hey guys, I've been trying to clone a HDD with MS-DOS installed on it with no avail. So far I've tried using Clonezilla. I am cloning from a 250GB IDE HDD to a 250GB SATA HDD if that makes any difference. However I am unable to boot off of the cloned disk, the contents appear identical however the space used is slightly off (a few mb at most). I have tried a few different options in clonezilla but all have had no success. Is there anything wrong I'm doing? Some details: - Using some ASUS motherboard with IDE/SATA port(s) so I can get the two drives connected - The original drive boots up MS-DOS with no issues. - I have also tried cloning to a larger size HDD (same result) I'm thinking that there might be some boot files that aren't copying or maybe clonezilla formats the new drive incorrectly, the content should be exact (bit for bit copy) by the space used is different (maybe this is normal). Any help in the right direction is much appreciated, thanks in advance! Regards, YoshiHDify
