I've built on 4 or 5 Z97-A's which, I would assume, are the P's closest cousin depending on the region. All have OC'd exceptionally well. This can be said for just about every Z97 board out there, regardless of the manufacturer, ASUS just has the best UEFI IMO.
 
i7, 970 or 980 (as well as the 280X/290X), are a great combination. There's no point in investing more money into a MOBO beyond the features you need.

i don't think you will need a gtx 980 when your display is 21 or 24 inch...i guess u will play on 1080p resolution the most time...so go with the gtx 970
as for gaming a i5 4690k will be fine
also you should maybe think about adding a SSD to your build
maybe you also want to add a cpu cooler fan (the arctic cooling freezer 7 is a cheap one) because the stock fans are really loud.

Not sure if you need speakers, or if the CPU cooler is even included nowadays...
If that's the case, can replace the SSD with something cheaper I suppose... Or get a monitor that's not IPS

well all i can say is that since patch 1.4 i dont ecperience any buggs, but some server issues from time to time when playing co-op
i also got assassins creed dead kings dlc for free 
 
and i  hit 50-60 fps on ultra with my gtx 970

the red version is the gaming one i think
i bought it and im very happy with it D:
but any gtx970 is beastly so u cant go wrong

144 = 120+24
so its 2x glorious 60fps plus a little cinematic experience
