  1. So I tried all 6 ports. Found out I had a bad sata cable and got rid of it. System now powers on but the drives do not show up in the bios. Says disabled by each port yet "Sata: ENABLED" is turned on. So I'm wondering if I have a bad sata controller.
  2. Power cables are fine. Sata cables are fine I think I tried all 6 ports, I'll make sure to try the bottom ports
  3. So I have big problem. I cannot plug any SATA drives into the SATA ports on my ASUS strix b550-f gaming wifi motherboard. I have 1 NVME drive, but I can't get any of these extra drives (two 1TB SSD's and a 8TB HDD) to work, it acts like there is a short in the board as soon as the sata cable is plugged in. It refuses to turn on. This board is a pain to get at the SATA ports as they sit right behind my monster of a GPU. So I have to keep pulling the card out to test ports, and let me say that gets tiring real quick. I don't know if it is a setting in the bios i need to change, or just buy a pci-e sata card. I'm lost as this is far from what I know. My only other option is to return it to the company I bought it from which is ibuypower.
  4. Alright. I'll just do a fresh install on a day when I have time I can set aside to do it. Thanks all.
  5. So I'm rebuilding my old PC by just changing the motherboard, cpu and ram. I've been told I can easily pop my drives in without having to reinstall windows, and that all I need to do is remove chipset drivers. Is this the safest option? I can reinstall windows if I have to but due to lack of time I'd prefer not too. Is there anything else I need to do with windows before swapping hardware? Any registry settings? Things I should uninstall? I've done "dirty" installs of windows in the past, but this is my first doing it with swapping motherboards and cpu's. How does Linus make it look so easy with that m.2 drive with windows on it, plopping it in any random PC for testing?
  6. I don't abuse the system like some people do (like mining or folding). My ambient temp is in the low 70's (it's winter, I'm not keeping the temp in the 60's). i do use a UPS due to random power outages that happen once or twice a month. I did list what's going on in the OP.
  7. So my old 2015 Gaming PC is dying. I need to make it last until I can afford an upgrade. My specs are: OS Windows 10 Pro 64-bit CPU Intel Core i5 4690K @ 3.50GHz RAM 16.0GB Dual-Channel DDR3 @ 799MHz (11-11-11-28) Motherboard ASUSTeK COMPUTER INC. MAXIMUS VII HERO (SOCKET 1150) GPU EVGA NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1060 6GB PSU Some 650 Watt Corsair unit. I don't have the parts list anymore. 3 SSD's for games and 2 1TB HDD's for storage. Symptoms are PC doesn't want to power down, have to turn it off via power switch. System becomes very sluggish after a few days of use without rebooting. I've had the system lock up when doing simple tasks and a program or game updates. CPU will sometimes sit at 50% when sitting on the desktop and only Steam running. What's the best way to make it last? I can't tell if the motherboard is going or the CPU.
  8. I hadn't thought of that. I think I will do that and send back the ones I don't want.
  9. Where I live the only place to try stuff is best buy. never seen them there.
  10. I've been wanting a really great pair of Sennheiser headphones for a long time. Well I finally got around $150 saved up and I just can't decided which pair to get. The main purpose for them is gaming with music listening on the side. I keep looking at this pair of cans, but then I look around some more and I keep eyeing this pair too. And then I see these and then I can't make up my mind. I've been using a pair of HyperX Cloud for over a year, and it finally fell apart when one part broke 3 months ago. Can ya'll provide any input?
  11. I found Linus Tech Tips back in 2011 looking for random unboxing videos. I got hooked with the amount of information given during the unboxings. I would love to win the new PC because I am physically disabled and have a hard time getting friends or family to build one for me, so having one built by Linus would just be all kinds of awesome
