I was scrolling through some of the posts I missed while I was doing some other junk, Lmao at the fact that the complaining about the forum software never ended. I still can't get the forum to change to the dark theme even if I disable all my add-ons. Anyways if some gets a chance can they send me an invite to the discord? I was watching season 2 of SAO and its actually not that bad. I think it probably gets skipped due to the second half of the first season. But in at least the first 14 episodes his sister has a total of like 2min of screen time. Otherwise its kinda fun to watch. Also the first ED is really good.

Doesn't surprise me since it was just posted today. I just happened to stumble upon it by coincidence when I was looking for the guide on how to install Fate Stay/Night with the english patches. But ya I'm probably going to end up playing through Fault in one sitting when it comes out. Assuming of course that its the same length as the others. Probably not. As for discord I have already given many reasons why I don't like it. For instance their business model. They have no way to stay afloat and odds are they will eventually have to start charging a fee or go the windows way of displaying ads absolutely everywhere and selling loads of user data. Its not open and as far as I know you can't host your own instance of it using their API so they will eventually have to do something to recoup the cost.

The earlier episodes had a Lord Of the Rings feel to them and I liked that a lot. Also the OST reminds me a lot of the one from lord of the rings. And then when you actually start thinking about the society they live in things start getting really deep. I'm 10 episodes in and have loved every episode other then the first two which were a bit slow. Other then that I'm not going to be on this forum very often if at all anymore. The rest of the forum is cancer and most of the people I actually cared about in this thread have left. And on top of that its no secret that this whole update made the site into a buggy piece of shit. And this is supposedly a tech site. Ya you just put them both in and install the drivers. Then you use different monitors or different inputs on the same monitor and swap between them. Kinda pointless though. I would rather have the extra $200-300 that you could get from selling one of them.

Yep you could set your own custom CSS or just edit the fonts and colors on the old one. But it looks like you can still switch it back and set a custom CSS if you want.

Wait you weren't using a theme? They took design elements from what looks like the 3 most popular ones and added it to their site. Its nice but I didn't really change at all lol. Random other thought: I don't have comic sans installed so your sig is just my browsers default.

So I reinstalled arch today. Couldn't get gentoo working because I was using the minimal installation img and it doesn't support EFI installs. I could have just done a BIOS install but I didn't really feel like it. Other then that though Gentoo felt awesome. I will definitely be using it on my laptop and may switch my desktop over after using it there. On my new arch install I now have 400 less packages which is pretty awesome. I also decided not to use the proprietary amd drivers and wow, the open source ones have been way better so far. And they take up 0.13mb (40mb with mesa for 3d acceleration): As you can see I still need to fix my sub-pixel rendering on fonts. I don't remember what I changed last time so I will need to search it up. Also sometimes I'm getting tearing while scrolling in firefox where I wasn't before so I need to figure out whats causing that. Its not doing it in anything else and its only happening sometimes so I may have to dig around in about:config.

Just watch the OVA/Movie. It was actually pretty good and the artstyle was awesome. It has different characters and probably different story then the TV series.

That is a really poor reason for it not to be encrypted. I wonder how they justify other apps supporting that feature. Well anyways not only are all chats encrypted in telegram but the secret chat doesn't even leave a trace of the message passing through their servers. And if one of the clients deletes a message it will get deleted on the other client as well. It was just a suggestion anyways. I was just sharing my opinion. I care about my privacy its fine if you guys don't but thats why I refuse to use discord.

I'm not saying its lol. I just choose not to use services provided by company's that I can't fill trust anymore. The ones I'm already engrained in whatever but I have no reason to add more to that list. Like I said though it's my personal choice. Yes but the point is that it's encrypted client side not server side. And they have provided $200 000 worthof incentive for someone to crack it. But its basically impossible. You might be able to brute force giving a year or two and a botnet but its incredibly unlikely.

My freedom to look through the source and change and recompile/remove things or build it for another platform or whatever. Not that I would necessarily do that but I can if I want to. People can and have looked though it to see that it doesn't sell your data. Unlike with discord where you just have to place your trust in some random entity and hope they aren't lying.

No because it isn't encrypted, nor does it respect my freedom. I know some of you will think I'm being paranoid, but its more about the principle of it.

@Crowes (sorry cant tag properly on mobile) Well you can't actually verify that discord is secured because the souce code isnt visible. And I don't see them saying on their site that your chats are encrypted. Plus they dont have a linux app and you cant compile it yourself on other platforms that aren't officially supported. But anyways I won't personally be using discord so whatever.

Question for you discord guys. Can we use telegram instead? Its open source, libre*, supports all platforms, encrypted, and allows the sending files of any size and type. You don't need an account or username and if you don't have one the only way to message you is through an invite link. Basically it's just a better, open sourced discord. *turns out the servers run proprietary software. But the api and the rest of the app are libre. And they swear by the encryption(they are offering $200,000 btc for whoever cracks it) so the proprietary server software shouldn't be a problem.

I'll give that a try tomorrow when I have a chance. I kinda figured it was grub being weird. If it turns out that's the case I will probably replace the kernel again with the one I configured. Gotta stroke my ego somehow ;^)

@BashZeStampeedo Maybe you can help me with this before I go make a forum post elsewhere. Basically I'm having the this kernel panic described here(unknown-block(0,0)).So naturally I assumed I didn't compile the support for the controller into the kernel. I went through and double checked all the options and it looked right so I recompiled it, re-installed the initramfs, and re configured grub. But I was still getting the same panic. I thought that maybe I was just too much of a noob to compile the kernel manually so I went and used the 'genkernel all' tool(which compiles in pretty much everything) and again redid grub and initramfs. But I'm still getting the same error. So now I'm kinda at a loss. Other relevant info: I followed the handbook and only changed a couple things like the fs. My fstab looks pretty standard: /dev/sda2 /boot vfat defaults 0 0 /dev/sda3 / btrfs rw,relatime,ssd 0 0 I am doing a EFI install with grub2 and the vanilla-sources kernel (cause its more up to date). Should I maybe not bother with efi and/or use a different kernel, I guess I could use the git-sources one and actually be somewhat helpful by reporting the inevitable bugs. I could also try messing around with the grub.cfg but I don't think the syntax is the same as the legacy example on that wiki page I linked. Kinda getting a tad annoying because it will only take me like 15 minutes excluding download and compile times to re-configure my WM and other apps after I boot because I have my dotfiles from my arch install.
