  1. Hello all, Currently I have a 240GB SSD as my main drive, with Windows installed, my most used software and some games, and a 2TB HDD as a secondary drive, where I install big programs or games that would take too much space in the small SSD, and store all my data. I'm considering purchasing a 2TB NVMe SSD to subsitute my small SSD and keep the HDD just for file storage, and I was wondering a few things: Should I format the old SSD before installing Windows in the new SSD so that the Windows key is available? Or can I deactivate Windows somehow and install it on the new drive and only afterwards format the old SSD from Disk Management? Can I keep the HDD unformatted and, once Windows is reinstalled and running, delete the installed programs and just keep the files? (I mean, so that I don't need an additional HDD for backup) Any tips on how to proceed with the SSD change and HDD repurposing? I'm not sure if this should be posted in the Storage Devices forum, please move if not correct Thank you very much for your help!
  2. I'm using a VGA cable since it's the only connector my monitor has. Also, back then when I bought the monitor they sold it at a 1440x900 resolution (it's a 16:10 monitor). I have used it for years at that resolution with no issue, and only encountered a problem this time. My guess is it's some kind of software issue, but I don't know how I could try to prove that!
  3. I've had this problem since I reinstalled Windows in my computer, and I don't know what might be the cause or how to solve it. When I set the resolution of my computer to its native resolution, 1440x900, everything looks stretched horizontally and pixels get kind of blurry due to this. It is particularly noticeable in photos (since you see slightly deformed faces) and in MS Paint when painting a 1 pixel line in any direction. I have tried reinstalling the drivers with no results at all. Does anyone know what might be causing this? I had never had this problem before, and I cannot seem to find any information about it on the internet. I have an ASUS VE228D 1440x900 monitor and my computer has an AMD R9 270 graphics card. Thanks!
  4. Unfortunately, since I'm already beyond the limit of my budget I won't be able to change to a faster cooler. I will see how far I can go with the overclock. At least the 4.3 equal to the turboboost won't be too hard, I think, so that all the 6 cores run at that speed.
  5. But is my cooler of choice and psu enough for a not so extreme overclock? Considering turbo boost is 4.3 Ghz, maybe around 4.5 Ghz.
  6. Only that little, really? I was hoping for 4.5 Ghz, considering most people go up to 5 Ghz in this chip!
  7. If they are on my budget and they make sense, yes!
  8. I'm kinda on the limit of my budget really so it will be difficult to fit a better cooler. If I don't aim too high with the overclock, won't it be enough? I don't really know much about CPU coolers. As said on the top, my budget is on the limit. I wish I could get a 1080 or any of the 2 tis!
  9. Hey guys! After a lot of changes in my build, mainly in the CPU since I discovered that the 8th generation existed when I was almost sure of what PC I was going to build, and then deciding what CPU to get among the 8th gen processors and going through some budget increments, I decided the components that I will most likely choose this Black Friday when I purchase my new gaming PC. These are my choices: Componente Precio CPU Intel Core i5-8600K 3.6GHz BOX 289,00 € GPU MSI GeForce GTX 1070 Armor OC 8GB GDDR5 435,00 € MOBO Gigabyte Z370 HD3 132,00 € PSU Corsair CX550 550W 80 Plus Bronze 64,00 € RAM Kingston HyperX Fury DDR4 2133 PC4-17000 8GB 2X4GB 89,00 € Torre Fractal Design Define R5 Blackout Negra 123,00 € SSD Samsung 850 Evo SSD Series 250GB SATA3 96,00 € HDD Seagate BarraCuda 2.5" 2TB SATA3 70,50 € Grabadora CD Asus DRW-24D5MT 18,20 € CPU fan Cooler Master Hyper 212X 31,00 € Monitor Asus VG248QE 24" LED 3D 144Hz 279,00 € Total 1.347,70 € Total + Monitor 1.626,70 € My plan is to overclock the processor and GPU, but not to an extreme level, I don't want to experiment too much nor have a lot of risk. What do you think about it? Any comment about it will be welcomed Cheers!
  10. Every second that goes by is pushing me towards the 8600K hahaha
  11. I will buy it during this black friday, since the overall cost of the build will be much less than if I wait for a non overclocking board
  12. As I said previously, in terms of cost it's the same in my country. Also, since there are only Z370 motherboards available at the moment, motherboard cost is basically the same in both cases.
  13. In the game benchmarks in that post I can see the 8400 overpasses the 8350K only when the latest is not overclocked, in most cases. This is so difficult
  14. I plan on mostly gaming on a 144 hz monitor.
  15. So in this situation, what would be your choice and why?
