1. I have been using a samsung 850 pro as my primary drive but also have two 4tb WD Reds in the system. I am using windows 8.1 and i'm curious what the best way to copy the data from the ssd to one of the hdd.?Every now and then the ssd becomes undetectable and i'm forced into the UEFI and computer will not boot into windows. I would like to have the abilitiy to boot from the HDD when this happens. How can I clone everything from the SSD to the HDD?
2. I heard the owner had some issues and read some articles in February about frozencpu going down. Does anybody have and update on whats going on or when they will be up and running again? It's a bummer I got all my water cooling stuff from them..
3. I would want to use all new parts and as small as possible dimensions. Enough power to play games at average details at 1080p,quad core cpu, 8gb ram,1tb hdd. How cheap could I go for something like that?
4. I know I know.It bugs the shit out of me too but I wanted the PC up and running ASAP and that section of tubing is getting redone anyway. I have both the waterblocks and the backplates now so I will be fixing that this weekend. I will be posting pics of the finished build soon.
5. That looks really nice. Great build! How is the long term durability of the plasti dip for the backplates you think? Is everything still looking good now? It would be a stencil like design, would the plasti dip be good still if I had to peel painters tape off the backplate? I'm slightly worried that it might not give clean edges or pull the paint off when I remove the tape. Thanks for the help.
6. Besides it's use on cars I'm not that familiar with plasti dip. I would think the heat would damage the rubberish material but if it has been used on a 290 backplate I think it would be fine for this application. I'll look into it more. Thanks for the help!
7. I wouldn't be spraying the whole thing, I would just lay down some painters tape to get some angled white lines and peel the tape. I have a white and black build and I think if the design came out nice it would really look good. I just don't want to mess up.
8. I just got my two EK 980 backplates and i'm pretty disappointed with them. For $30 dollars each I wish they had some design to them. I am considering painting them but I don't if I should use some high heat paint or if I would be ok with just regular spray paint. What do you guys think?
9. My build is coming to and end. The next step is to install the two EK 980 water blocks and backplates which I will do in the next couple days. However the final piece I need to order is the case lighting. I will be using at least two 12" led light strips inside the carbide 540 case but need some help deciding what color. Should I go white or UV for the case lighting? White would fit in with the build but I think the UV would add some color and make the white acrylic tubing and sleeved cables stand out. What do you think?
10. I would be concerned that the white light produced buy RGB wouldn't be of high quality. In some of the RGB products I have had their white light is more of a light blue.
11. I got one that might qualify...http://linustechtips.com/main/topic/251046-project-acanthoscurria-5960x-gtx980-sli-ax1200i-850-pro-1tb-acrylic-primochill-tubing-ddr4-2400mhz-alphacool/page-4
12. My build is finally coming to an end. Even though it has been up and running for a couple months it's still not "complete". I have my two 980 water blocks and backplates in hand which were one of the last things I needed. However the final piece to this build would be the case lighting, which I'm having trouble deciding. So I figured I would turn to the forum to see what you guys think would look the best. I will be getting at least two 12" led strips (top/bottom) or possibly 4 (all sides). Should I go white (which fits with the rest of the build) ? Or should I go UV? ( would add some color and bring out the white sleeving and piping)? Also in some of the pictures the light coming from the fans looks blue but it is actually a white light. 13. Ugh, I'll take your word for it. It makes sense since they charge so much more for their backplates compared to the competitors.
14. Are you saying that ek block and evga backplate are not compatible? With such a large variance in price if they both fit, I don't see why anybody would be buying the EK backplates.
15. I'm going to be getting a two 980 water blocks from EK and I would like to get a back plates too. The problem is that the EK back plates are $40 while the standard EVGA backplates are $20. I was wondering if I get the EK water block if the standard EVGA back plate would work?
16. I can't decide between these two blocks? I like how the nickel one covers the entire pcb but I rather have acetal than acrylic.
17. This is the block I am talking about. <imgsrc="http://i.imgur.com/IWwqaKJ.jpg?1" title="source: imgur.com" />
18. I'm considering purchasing an acrylic 980 gpu block from EK and the description said there's holes for two 3mm diodes. I was curious if anybody had pictures of a build using an acrylic EK gpu block with led lighting?
19. I will try to get it to boot but i'm not sure if it will. I just downloaded the magician software so I will give it a try, thanks for the advice.
20. Keep my posted if you find a solution. I reloaded the BIOS (1103) and that solved the problem. However I have tried to help opther people by giving them this solution and it didn't work but I would try it if you haven't already.
21. I would be doing it because of aesthetics, I figure if there is a space between the two blocks (980, space, 980) the three way ridged connector would look normal/better. I also don't like in two way sli having the exposed gold connectors on top of the pcb.
22. I'm currently getting ready to order the final pieces to complete my build, two gtx 980 water blocks. If your interested in the build search "Acanthoscurria" or it should be in my profile as well. Anyway the build has been made with solid white acrylic tubing throughout the loop. I went a solid color because I thought it would be the best for long term reliability/mainenance because the less light that contacts the water the better in terms of algae growth. I also have a silver coil in the reservoir. Anyway frozencpu.com is out of the black 980 water blocks and only has the acrylic versions. So i'm curious if my concerns of algae and increased maintenance is valid if going with an acrylic water block? Does anybody have experience with algae even though you use a silver coil? The acrylic blocks are also nickle plated, besides looks are there any advantages/disadvantage in the nickle plating? (I heard somewhere that it's possible it will flake off)
