  1. No probs, glad you're up and running
  2. Ok depending on your motherboard though you may have to enter the BIOS and turn on the SATA port.
  3. What kind of desktop is it? Some Dell and other prebuilt machines you have to go into the BIOS and turn on the SATA port.
  4. Hi, after installing Windows 7 on a metric butt ton of machines in the last couple months I can confirm the 'Searching for updates' will take a very long time (in some cases 36 hours). There is an update that fixes this but unfortunately you have to wait for the update to install. There are several ways to 'fix' the issue downloading some updates and installing them manually but none have worked for me (and I've tried many of them on many different PCs). The solution always seems to be: wait. Click 'Check for updates' and leave is searching overnight, over the weekend, it'll eventually grab them and install I promise.
  5. Possible simple fix that you may have already tried: switch the SATA port on the motherboard that the drive is connected to. I've dealt with this problem in the past and that fixed it. You could also try booting with the drive unplugged, shut down then boot with it plugged in. Just a few things to try.
  6. ZBox for a console killer running SteamOS that looks sexy in my living room!
  7. I would love a bear claw...and this NUC but I also want a bear claw now maybe banana bread flavour.
  8. According to scamadviser.com and some comments there it is not legit, or at least very suspect. http://www.scamadviser.com/check-website/www.ozsoftlicense.com
  9. Following all the steps in the Windows Repair program from tweaking.com has fixed this error many times for me. http://www.tweaking.com/content/page/windows_repair_all_in_one.html It will walk you through step by step doing sfc, running MalwareBytes' then finally backing up the registry and running the fixes. I'd say try running that see what it turns up. EDIT just re-read your original post, I am sorry its a fresh install, this won't likely be much help. Did you remember to activate Windows?
  10. Hard to pick a fav. The case looks great, PSU is sexy as heck. I really do love the look of the fans too! The whole kit is going to look amazballs. But if you force me to pick my fav that PSU is it.

  12. I've had this problem before. You can try a couple things. In some BIOSes (not familiar with yours sorry) under 'integrated peripherals' there is an option to allow USB keyboard at boot up. If not try a PS/2 if you have one handy. You could also try mashing the F8 key after POST and selecting 'Last known good configuration'. That may clear the resume. Another thing to try would be as you suggested clearing the CMOS.
  13. Combofix is not yet compatible with Windows 8. I have seen similar issues when using Windows 8 start menu programs (I'm assuming you're using one based on the 7 style start button). Try updating that (if its from iobit here). If that doesn't work, as other have suggested I'd try MalwareBytes', If that doesn't work try 'Refresh' in PC Settings under 'Update and Recovery' Failing that, unfortunately a full reinstall may be in order.
  14. This is my first post, its not to win any contest but it is to say thanks. I am a PC builder and repair tech and I find your videos fun and informative about new products. I've been subscribed since the good old days of the quiet shy Linus reviewing water cooling parts in grany videos right up to the high quality videos we see today. You take subject matter that, while important, can be a little boring and you make it fun. I get my daily dose of tech and usually a laugh or two as well. So again I say from all of us: Thank you to all the Linus media personnel (and never forget your wife, supporting you through these years).
