Well i can now confirm that these do NOT work on red leds, they fail to provide any colour change whatsoever, (tested with yellow and orange filters) They do work quite nicely to soften the light glowing around the keys, making it look a lot more uniform. Oh well, was always prepared for them to be ineffective, hopefully my experience can warn a others from attempting this.
-
So I've just picked up a bunch of these and was wondering if anyone has had any experience with using them on red Leds? I understand the differences between mixing light and mixing things like paint, but I'm thinking that a tint from red (default Corsair K70 leds) to orange should be achievable, I have picked up a full set of yellow filters and a pack of 10 orange ones just to see if they come out any better. They weren't too expensive so I'm not going to be too bummed if the end result is not worth it, would be nice to have my keyboard go with the rest of my build plan though. Once they arrive I'll take a few snaps of them pre/post the filters and put them up here for you guys to see.

no firmware issues whatsoever with my k70 over here. Out of interest, what are these issues that i should be looking out for?
-
I am likely going to get my head ripped off for saying this but i find the sound quality on the razer tiamat 7.1 headset to be very acceptable. It does takes a lot of tweaking to get it balanced and it really improves the soundstage plugging them into a decent sound card. They are a smidge over your budget but i thought I'd chip in my 2 pence anyway, plus shop around and I'm sure that you could pick them up at a hefty discount. The are by no means a 'new' product.

I actually just got mine in the post yesterday so haven't had a massive amount of time to play around with it. I will say that the software is great, was using a razer Lachesis previously and the software that came with that is almost unuseable compared to this. I tend to favour a fingertip grip but have been playing around with styles on this mouse. It seems to support all 3 major grips very well with the only issue i can find being the DPI-shift / G-switch button being a little close to my thumb and easy to accidentally press when holding it in a palm grip. The sensor is indeed fantastic and the tuning utility actually makes a tangible difference in how your mouse tracks. (tested on a Razer Goliathus mouse mat and a gloss, wood-grain desk.

You are a legend. +1 Internets to you good sir! I will certainly be using this when i mod my mouse along with my next case mod project, Also seems like you used orange leds. orange and black is the scheme i will be going for with this too. Yeah I was interested to see how this works, just got my g502 in the post yesterday and it looks like this would be worth a try certainly, the smoked plastic is a clear white, there is no blue tint on in. Also thinking about a similar way to mod my corsair k70, the leds on it are currently red but I'm thinking if i take a yellow sharpie to the underside of the key-caps, i might be able to get a nice orange glow from the lettering on the keys.
-
This is an idea that i will likely try out. Just picked up a g502 for a nice cheap price. If no one has given this a try yet, does anyone at least have any idea how much of a bell end these things are to crack open? If the soldered on led is too tough to de-solder and replace it may be worth blacking that one out and just putting in a new led that is connected to the power input line.

tbh the 9 series cards are the first nvidia cards that are really turning my head, plus i need to try sli now that i have tried cf and see if its any less of a pain in the arse.

Oooh boy, this has to be one of the hottest builds i have ever seen. Looking forward to seeing what happens with that parvum. Sububububed!
-
Wow...Just, wow dude...This build is going to be beautiful. Subbed!
